Introducing the Zomboni - the coolest undead on wheels! Caution: Not your typical ice resurfacer. We repeat, NOT a Zamboni® brand ice resurfacing machine! This frozen fiend from the north will turn your lawn into a slippery slope of doom faster than you can say "brain freeze!"

Zomboni is a zombie in Plants vs. Zombies 2 added in the 10.8.1 update and introduced in the 11.0.1 update. It retains its abilities from the original Plants vs. Zombies, slowly advancing down the lane, crushing all plants it runs over, and generating a trail of ice behind it. The ice trail it creates will also summon Zombie Bobsled Teams.

Overview

Zomboni absorbs 1350 damage and its appearance changes upon absorbing 450 and 900 damage before dying at 1350 damage. It can instantly kill plants on the collision, but the following plants cannot be crushed: all instant-use plants, Sundew Tangler, Nightcap, Ghost Pepper without vine plants or Pumpkin on top of her, Lily Pad without plants on top of it, and some plants during their Plant Food effect.

Zomboni will be broken if meeting with Spikeweed, Spikerock, Cactus, or Iceweed (Spikeweed, Cactus, and non-Plant-Food-fed Iceweed will be removed in this case, while others losing their one spike). It is also vulnerable to armed Potato Mine / Primal Potato Mine and Chili Bean. It is immune to butter, freezing, chilling, knockback, stun effects from gas clouds, gummed, and sticked. Zomboni deals 4000 damage per second to shields from Infi-nut and Moonflower. For some reason, Zomboni cannot be hypnotized and it deals no damage to hypnotized zombies while they can still attack Zomboni.

Strategies

This zombie can be dangerous if you do not prepare. Defensive plants such as Wall-nuts or Tall-nuts, regardless of level do not stop the Zomboni from proceeding further and can instantly crush them and Zombonis are immune to chill from plants that have an ice attack such as Snow Peas or Winter Melons. On the other hand, Spikeweeds, Spikerocks, or even Iceweeds can instantly destroy Zombonis in one hit. Although the Zomboni will leave an ice trail that nothing can be planted on, the Jalapeno can be used to melt the ice trail and kill the Zomboni simultaneously. Occasionally, a Zombie Bobsled Team may appear regardless of the ice trail length if you did not destroy the Zomboni, making the level where Zombonis appear a bit more difficult. Besides Spikeweed and Spikerock, it is recommended to use the Jalapeno. This means to choose the Jalapeno and its Imitater version. Additionally, using explosive defensive plants such as Explode-O-Nut and Hot Date (despite being unable to stop the Zomboni from proceeding) against the Zomboni can also trigger their explosion to destroy them easily.

Trivia

• The part of Zomboni's almanac description where it references the Zamboni brand ice machine is a reference to its description in Plants vs. Zombies.
• He can be enlightened by Solar Sage even thought he's technically in a machine.
• He can't be instantly killed by Bamboo Spartan, unlike other zombies with similar mechanics (crushing plants).
• He is the third (or fifth) zombie to return from the original Plants vs. Zombies as an event-exclusive zombie, the first being Ducky Tube and its variants and second being Catapult Zombie.
