Zombies on Your Lawn is the song featured in the credits of Plants vs. Zombies, and the Plants vs. Zombies 2 Modern Day part 1 trailer and its Modern Day levels, composed and performed by Laura Shigihara, composer of the Plants vs. Zombies score.

The music video, in which the lead singer is a Sunflower, was used as a promotional piece for the game as well as being the credits. In Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network editions, it plays when the player beats the game, video inclusive.

Uraniwa ni Zombies ga ่Š็”Ÿใซใ‚พใƒณใƒ“ใŒ

The song appears as Track 15 on the Plants vs. Zombies Original Soundtrack.

In Japan, it's called Uraniwa ni Zombies ga!, and it's Track 17. Here, it translates to Zombies on Your Backyard!.

Recently, on November 7, 2023, Laura released another version of the song as a short called Himawari Party, also known as Sunflower Dance Party~. The link is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UT1ye4Fm8K0

English lyrics[]

Sunflower: Sunflower!
One, two, three! (Woo)
There's a zombie on your lawn.
There's a zombie on your lawn. (Yeah)
There's a zombie on your lawn.
We don't want zombies on the lawn. (Yeah)
I know your type: tall, dark, and dead,
You want to bite all the petals off of my head
And then eat the brains of the one who planted me here (Homeowner: Nooooooooooo!)
I'm just a sunflower, but see me power an entire infantry
You like the taste of brains, we don't like zombies
Football Zombie: I used to play football
Sunflower: Play football!
Conehead Zombie: Road cones protect my head
Sunflower: Road cone on his head.
Screen Door Zombie: I have a screen-door shield
Sunflower: Screen-door shield!
All zombies: We are the undead!
Sunflower: There's a zombie on your lawn.
There's a zombie on your lawn. (Yeah)
There's a zombie on your lawn.
We don't want zombies on the lawn. (Yeah)
Maybe it's time to reevaluate
I know you have a lot of food on your plate
Brains are quite rich in cholesterol
You're dead so it doesn't matter
Instead, we'll use this solar power
To make a lawn defense at any hour.
Digger Zombie: I like your tricycle
Sunflower: Tricycle.
Buttered Zombie: There's butter on my head
Sunflower: Butter on his head.
Dolphin: (Dolphin sound) I'm gonna eat your brains!
Sunflower: No, no, no, no.
All zombies: We are the undead!
Sunflower: There's a zombie on your lawn.
There's a zombie on your lawn. (Yeah)
There's a zombie on your lawn.
We don't want zombies on the lawn. (Yeah)

Translation of Japanese Lyrics (as if they're the English ones)[]

Sunflower: Sunflower!
Ready, set, go!
The zombies have come.
The zombies have come.
The zombies have come.
The zombies have left.
A zombie is a scary skeleton,
Who wants to bite off all of my petals
And then eat the head (Homeowner: Nooooooooooo!)
I'm just a sunflower
But I am strong!
You like brains,
We hate Zombies!
Football Zombie: I used to play football
Sunflower: Play football!
Conehead Zombie: I used to wear a helmet
Sunflower: Road cone on his head.
Screen Door Zombie: I have a screen door
Sunflower: Screen door shield!
All zombies: We are the zombies, zombies, zombies!
Sunflower: The zombies have come.
The zombies have come.
The zombies have come.
The zombies have left.
I want to go play in the backyard
Please don't eat my head
Brains have a lot of cholesterol
You're dead, but it doesn't matter,
Because we will use this solar power to fight
And to defend the plants.
Digger Zombie: Would you please give me your tricycle?
Sunflower: Tricycle.
Buttered Zombie: I've got butter on my head
Sunflower: Butter on his head.
Dolphin: (Dolphin sound) I'm gonna eat your brains!
Sunflower: No, no, no, no.
All zombies: We are the zombies, zombies, zombies!
Sunflower: The zombies have come.
The zombies have come.
The zombies have come.
The zombies have left.

Trivia[]

  • Sunflower's parts are sung by Laura Shigihara, both in the English and Japanese versions. The Zombies' parts are sung by the creator of Plants vs. Zombies, George Fan, in the English version.
  • Musically, it is written in key of G minor.
  • The Japanese Zombies' part of this song is sung by Laura's father to match the funny lyrics of this song by having him imitate an energetic and kindhearted, but jealous and overzealous Japanese game-show host.
    • In the Japanese version, the "football" word's pronounced as "ใƒ•ใƒˆใƒœใƒผใƒซ" (futobลru), but in the lyrics, it is pronounced as "ใ‚ฝใƒ•ใƒˆใƒœใƒผใƒซ" (sofutobลru), which means "softball." However, in the official lyrics, it's corrected as "ใƒ•ใƒˆใƒœใƒผใƒซ" (futobลru), which means "football", as football and softball are two different ball-related sports. And in addition, softball is a direct descendant of baseball.
      • Lastly, in addition, most of the websites with the lyrics of the Japanese version of the song have greatly neglected to add the parts of Sunflower sung by Laura after her father sung the Zombies' parts, which are "้Šใณใพใ—ใ‚‡ใ†" (Asobimashou), "ใƒ˜ใƒซใƒกใƒƒใƒˆ" (Herumetto), "ๆŒใฃใŸใ‚พ" (Motta zo), "ไธ‰่ผช่ปŠ" (Sanrinsha), "ใƒใ‚ฟใƒผ้ ญใซ" (Batฤ atama ni) and "่„ณใฟใ" (Nลmiso). The only website to have them is the link, which you can find here.
  • The Football Zombie says "I used to play football", but the Suburban Almanac states the Football Zombie has no idea what a football is, implying that he either actually didn't play football or forgot what it is after his death, though the latter is more likely.
  • Shigihara used part of the Pool's daytime music to compose the tune for this song, as heard in the original soundtrack.
  • As the lyrics are displayed on the bottom of the screen, a brain functions as the bouncing ball pointer, indicating which word is being sung.
  • The brain is off sync and synchronizes with the word being sung.
  • At the end of the video, a picture of the Cattail appears next to Laura Shigihara's name. It was added because that it is her favorite plant.
  • The end of the video says the song was produced by "Bloom and Doom Records", named similarly after Bloom and Doom Seed Co., the company that makes the seed packets.
  • Crazy Dave still has his pot on his head when held by a Bungee Zombie in the music video, despite the fact that it fell off when the Bungee Zombie kidnapped him on Level 5-10.
  • The Sunflower's movement in the song is much faster than that of an in-game Sunflower.
    • The same thing happens to the Zombie when it is entering the house and eat the player's brain while dancing.
  • This video suggests that the fog in Fog levels comes from a fog machine.
  • When the Sound FX volume is muted, the "NOOOO!" part after Sunflower sings "And then eat the brains of the one who planted me here." and the dolphin sound before the dolphin says "I'm gonna eat your brains" can't be heard.
  • In the MMORPG World of Warcraft, exists a Quest, which, after the player has beaten a Plants vs. Zombies-like mini-game, rewards him or her with a pet, which looks exactly like the Sunflower and sings sometimes. The song is a small collection of lyrics taken from this song.
  • The music video is mentioned in Sunflower's Almanac entry in Plants vs. Zombies 2.
    • Furthermore, this song was used again in the Modern Day Part 1 trailer and as an instrumental remix in Modern Day's final wave music.
  • This song is unusually absent from free versions of iOS and Android versions, although the player still receives a note from zombies to view credits after beating Dr. Zomboss.
  • The song is used in Apple Mortar's tournament in Arena as the background music, due to that tournament being released after Plants vs. Zombies' 10th anniversary.
  • In the Nintendo DS version, it uses a direct video rip from the original version. Also, it has some additional pan and zoom animation after "One, Two, Three!", "And then eat the brains of the one who planted me here.", "We are the Undead" and in the outro.
  • Each Game Trailer uses this song in Different Genres.
