Zen Cactus is a Super Rare variant of Cactus in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2. It was first seen in a reveal video on the Facebook page of Plants vs. Zombies. Its "special ability" is that the less ammo it has, the more damage it deals, and the more splash damage it has, however, all players can see the current amount of ammo the Zen Cactus has by looking at the orbs that are circling around it. This is the only Cactus variant unlockable in the beta.

Description

"Most people don't know this, but all five of Zen Cactus' mystic orbs are named after types of tacos. Which ones, you ask? Well that's a closely guarded secret..."

Strategies

The Zen Cactus has an ammo capacity of 5 Mystic Orbs. It shoots slower than most Cacti and has a lower reload speed (faster than the Camo Cactus). It deals 35 points of damage with direct hits for the first shot. Every orb fired increases the damage done by 10 points, dealing 75 points of damage for the final orb. Its projectile speed is slightly slower than that of the regular cactus.

The Zen Cactus is best used defensively at medium-longe range distances as your pink coloration and glowing orbs will give away your position and make you into a high priority target for the enemy team. To counter this, plant a Heal Flower in a nearby flower pot or have another player heal you as a Sunflower.

Your high damage output and splash damage will allow you to easily deal with imps (and possibly their mechs).

The Zen Cactus is a risky character to use, as players, both plant and zombie, are able to see how much ammo you have left. The less ammo you have, the more chance you are a target, as zombies will try to vanquish you, especially if you miss zombies attacking you at melee range.

Trivia

  • It uses two gestures in its trailer.
    • The first is similar to a "wake up stretch." However the audio used is the first game's gesture "Yes". Its name is based on the former.
    • The second is "The Robot" gesture from the first game, sped up instead of normal speed.
  • Zen Cactus's Mystic Orbs sparkle mystic shapes that is smilar to Mystic Flower's sparkles.
  • Only Zen Cactus has flying objects surrounding it.
  • Its hood appears to be a reference to the hood Raven from the Teen Titans series wears.
    • This is odd, since Raven is riddled with negative energy, while the Zen Cactus is blessed with positive energy.
