PvZ1HDWallNut

Wall-nut is a recurring character within the Plants vs. Zombies franchise. They're defensive plants that can't attack back (except in Wall-nut Bowling and Wall-nut Bowling 2), but instead block off zombies with their huge amounts of health.

As of Plants vs. Zombies 3, Wall-nut has appeared in every game in the Plants vs. Zombies franchise.

Origins

NutSeed

Juglans regia

Wall-nut is based on the edible walnut seed, specifically the Juglans regia. The name is a portmanteau of "walnut" and "wall," befitting Wall-nut's ability to absorb attacks from zombies.

History

Wall-nut1

In the original Plants vs. Zombies game, as well as all Chinese spin-off games based on it, Wall-nut is the fourth plant unlocked, obtained after beating Level 1-3. They defend plants behind it from the zombies with their high health.

Wall-nut is also the star of the Wall-nut Bowling mini-games, having two variations in those sets of mini-games, and has a higher health counterpart in Tall-nut in the main game.

There is a ZomBotany zombie based on him, the Wall-nut Zombie, who is like a Buckethead Zombie, but can't have their armor removed by Magnet-shroom.

Wall-nut made a reappearance in PopCap's ill-fated Facebook game Plants vs. Zombies Adventures, having the same abilities as its Plants vs. Zombies counterpart. Unlike most plants, it couldn't be revived if eaten by the zombies.

It had a VIP variant, the Hard-nut, who was like the Tall-nut, except zombies like the Mall Cop Zombie could jump right over them, just like Wall-nut.

Wall-nut2

Wall-nut next appears in Plants vs. Zombies 2, this time as the third obtained plant rather than the fourth. His ability is exactly like the first game and is a member of the Reinforce-mint family, who gives him an additional 8,000 health when on the field and instantly activates his Plant Food effect.

He now has a Primal variant which withstands more Gargantuar smashes and can be planted faster, and Tall-nut also returns in this game with the same ability.

Garden Warfare series and Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville

Wall-nut has appeared in the Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare series in multiple occasions. However, his direct appearances are never called Wall-nut. There is a map named after him called Wall-nut Hills that appears in both Garden Warfare games.

Nut based plants are included as Cactus' abilities in the Garden Warfare series. Both of these abilities are based on defending other plants such as Cactus from damage, with Tallnut Battlement being longer while Iron Maiden has more health.

Bling Maiden official

In Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, the Iron Maiden has a bling variant called the Bling Maiden which is simply a reskinned Iron Maiden.

Tallnuts

Despite their name, Tallnuts resemble Wall-nuts closer. These nuts are fired out of Tallnut Cannons in the Wall-nut Hills map at the final objective. These Tallnuts instantly vanquish any unlucky person they touch, plant or zombie.

BfN Landed Wall-nut

These type of nuts reappear in Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville during the Balloon Buffoons quest at the Town Center and in the final objective of the Peachy District map. Once again, they are launched out of cannons, this time called Wall-nut Cannons, deal massive damage to zombies who are hit by them, and can be destroyed in advance. This game has them correctly called Wall-nuts.

Wall-nut2

Wall-nut next appeared in the Chinese-exclusive turn-based game Plants vs. Zombies: All Stars as the first plant in the Nut line, evolving into Tall-nut and then into Holographic Tall-nut. He was a melee attacker who rammed himself into the first enemy ahead of him, though he primarily was meant to protect plants behind him.

His active ability was Armored Assault, which removed negative effects from himself and created a protective shield for the team that lasted 5 turns.

His soulmates were members of the Ice Pea line or members of both the Chrysanthemum line and Pepper lines for a defense boost and members of the Bomb line for a health boost.

Wall-Nut also appears in the turn-based mobile card game Plants vs. Zombies Heroes as a 1SunPvZH/6HeartPvZH Nut plant with Team-Up in the PvZH Guardian IconGuardian class. He is a very simple plant whose sole purpose is to be used to defend other plants.

Along with this, the PvZH Guardian IconGuardian/PvZH Solar IconSolar Plant hero Wall-Knight is also based off Wall-Nut.

Wall-Nut3

Wall-Nut's most recent appearance is in Plants vs. Zombies 3, where he reprises his role as a defensive plant, more specifically, a Wall. He is one of the three plants given at the start of the game, joined by Peashooter and Bonk Choy and as a main character. Similarly to Wall-Knight's depiction in Plants vs. Zombies 2 events, he isn't that bright but means well.

His Plant Food ability is Shell Shove, an ability that lets him push zombies back and stun them for a limited time while his Tacobility is Jugger-Nut, which works like his Plant Food ability did in Plants vs. Zombies 2.

Trivia

  • He appears in the most Achievements icons in Plants vs. Zombies, appearing in 5 of them, 6 if one assumes the eyes in the Blind Faith achievement are from a Wall-nut.
    • He also technically appeared in the most Achievement icons in Plants vs. Zombies 2 before the 1.7 update, appearing in both the King Nut and Shell on Wheels achievements, getting replaced by a Mummified Gargantuar in the King Nut icon after the 1.7 update.
  • Theres a very small chance a wall-nut could kill a zombie. If a zombie starts eating a wall-nut itโ€™s face may get bloated and it may die.
