Plant's rarities was introduced in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2. This colored border represents how useful the plant is.
However, Plant rarity is split into 5 different rarities:
- Common, which are basic, has a probability of 100% - 80% of obtaining it, and how basic it is, which the border color is white.
- Uncommon, which are decent, has a probability of 80% - 50% of obtaining it, which plants are good, but not that much, which the border color is green
- Rare, which are great, sometimes powerful, has a probability of 50% - 30% of obtaining it, which have pretty good abilities, and they will appear in VIP events, and other events, which the border color is blue
- Super Rare or Epic, which are excellent, has a probability of 30% - 20% of obtaining it, excellent abilities, and they will appear in VIP events, and other events, which the border color is violet. However, they also appear in Penny's Lottery which requires to spend a ticket to get the jackpot plant.
- Legendary, which are ideal, polished, and a bit powerful If you level up to Tier 5, has a probability of 20% - 1% of obtaining it, superior abilities, and they always appear in VIP events, and other events, which the border color is gold. However, they also appear in Penny's Lottery which requires to spend a ticket to get the jackpot plant.
All of the rarities expect common rarity, appeared in Weekly Gacha, which you can spend some gems to get the old Legendary-rarity plant.
There is a red rarity, but it is unused but ONLY to test some plants before obtaining it. Examples are Spikerock & Dandelion which are trial plants that you can plant.

- Rarities also appeared in Plants vs. Zombies Heroes, but the banners are drastically different.
