Plants vs. Zombies Wiki
Plants vs. Zombies Wiki

I did this a year ago, but looking back, it was terrible.

Not only it had a MASSIVE TON of grammar issues, but like 90% of the words were capitalized for some reason which made it hell to read.

Additionally, my opinion on most of the worlds has changed, so here is my new top:

11.- Jurassic Marsh

By far, the worst world. The difficulty is straight up bullshit and it's not fun to play at all, it doesn't even feel hard in a good way, it's just utterly stressing and enraging. Additionally this world only has 3 regular level themes as opposed to the usual 4, and since most of the levels have 3 or 4 flags you'll have the same themes play over and over again which makes the experience even worse. If that wasn't enough, the dinosaurs are a terrible concept, why do they even help zombies? This is never explained and is clearly just there so they can make the world more bullshit, most of them aren't even original; Raptor is a breakdancer, Stego and T-Rex are the only original ones, Ptero is a prospector and ankylo is a mecha football and an extremely op breakdancer fused together. AND if all that wasn't enough, the world only has 1 new zombie, which isn't even all that innovative since it's only immune to the effect of a single plant that you most likely won't use since the predominating strategy in this world is Magnifying Grass barrage, the world tries to make up its lack of zombies with the dinos but it doesn't work.

10.- Ancient Egypt

This is a problem i have with most of the tutorial worlds in the games, they are so generic and boring... And although i appreciate them for going for an original thematic for the first world, it just isn't enough and it's extremely boring. This world also gets worse with every update since they keep destroying the consistency it has with the other 25 day worlds (For example, the Gargantuar battle is at day 6 instead of day 8, or, all the 25 day worlds only have levels of 1 and 2 flags, no levels with 3 or 4 flags) and they also removed the mummy memory minigame for some reason. And one of the replacement levels (Especifically day 23) has a Gargantuar outside of a boss battle, which is something that didn't happen up until wild west.

9.- Neon Mixtape Tour

Yeah, this is a really hot take but hear me out. This world is extremely overrated, if you ask someone why they think this is their favorite world, you can bet they'll say "It's because the music is so GOOOOOD!!!!!!!". Ok, and? This isn't a rhythm or music-based game, so music is just a side aspect, everything else in this world apart from the music and designs sucks. The gimmick is stupid, the zombies are unoriginal and most of the plants are useless, those are the most important aspects, not the music, duh.

8.- Pirate Seas

This world kind of suffers the same problem as Ancient Egypt, it's just too generic and boring, although it's much better since at least there is a gimmick, the zombies are more interesting and the levels are more entertaining since it isn't the tutorial world. It would be higher if it wasn't because they removed the Coconut Cannon minigame, which was one of the saving graces of the minigames. Seriously PopCap, why the fuck do you keep doing this!? Why do you feel the need to keep ruining and destroying your game!? Things like this are the reason i stopped playing the game in its current state and downloaded an older version (Especifically, the Modern Day Part 2 update)

7.- Big Wave Beach

This world... I like the music, the plants and the designs, but the difficulty, oh boy, the difficulty. From day 13 onwards, the Big Wave of Difficulty attacks, an insane amount of zombie spam, extremely annoying zombies such as octo, surfer or fisherman, really difficult goals for the levels and tidal waves, in some days like 25 or 30 you have literally NO margin for error, and if you do anything wrong you just lose. This world is just waaay too hard to be enjoyable, and it's so bad the Wave 1 (Level starts) theme just gives me a sense of disatisfaction everytime i hear it because i'd usually hear it after i lost a level and had to restart, which is a real shame since the theme is good. Something similar happens with the deep sea gargantuar, it just provokes a deep anger within me.

6.- Modern Day

I think this world is descent. Unlike Big Wave Beach and Jurassic Marsh it manages to be hard while still being fun, so that's something to praise. Additionally i really like the Shadow Plants and i think they are a really nice concept. The Zombies could be better since the selection is defininitely a meh (Especially Newspaper, it's so bullshit and unoriginal since Pharaoh Zombie already does the same thing) but i also think they could have used more of the gimmicks of the other worlds, since they are barely used. The main reason it's here and not is the huge dissapointment that finale was, it's just plain terrible and it doesn't even look like they tried, seriously, imagine if they had made some sort of combination of all the Zombots in the game along with the PvZ 1 Zombot, but no. All we get is 3 levels with reused Zombots with plants from the next world (That aren't even from the next world anymore since the new world order destroyed it all)

5.- Frostbite Caves

While i ranked this as my favorite world in the original tierlist it isn't actually all that good. The main reason because i thought this was the best world in the last tierlist is that the soundtrack was really good, which not only comes out as hypocritical with my rant about NMT but it's also wrong. I mean, the regular level themes are fine, but they aren't the big thing either, not sure why i used to like them so much. And the Ultimate Battle and Demostration Minigame are horrendous and the worst ones by far, Ultimate Battle abuses Dark Ages' kazoo that isn't even used in any part of the original music of Frostbite Caves and it also feels terribly unfitting with the atmosphere (Not only that, but it also doesn't have some especial jingles that ALL the other Ultimate Battles have except this one, Lost City and PvZ 1's, which makes them sound really lame) and Demostration Minigame is just a plain cheap copy of Dark Ages' except they replace the best parts. The Zombie selection isn't that neat either, i must say. It only has 4 special zombies and 2 of them are copycats of other zombies (Weasel Horder and Troglobite) which means it only has 2 new zombies, one of them (The Dodo) that isn't really all that special, so it does end up being kinda lame. Day 7 and 14 are super fun though.

4.- Wild West

Here is where we start with the worlds i like. I think this is a really underrated world, the plants are great and the zombies too. The gimmick is pretty good and overall it has a good level design. I just wish it was harder but then again it's the third world of the game. I don't treally have much to say but i just like everything about this world, it's not higher because it's just too easy.

3.- Dark Ages

In the last tier list i put Dark Ages much lower, but now i think it's actually a really good world. It all comes to the level design, it's just really good, the goals for the levels (specially on part 2) are all executed in a really good way that reminds me of mods like Reflourished bringing some plants like Magnet-Shroom Grave Buster, Sun Bean or Bonk Choy to their full potential. With 20 levels and 3 special zombies, it's somehow much more fun that worlds like Jurassic Marsh. The plant selection is also great since all the plants except Magnet-Shroom are really useful, and yes that includes Sun Bean. Sun Bean is really useful in Jurassic Marsh to maximize the amount of sun production you get from Fossilhead spam and it's also useful in Modern Day to get income from any really tanky zombie that spawns in the middle of your defenses from the portals, and this world also has my favorite Zombot! Overall this world is really good and on top of that the Ultimate Battle and Demostration Minigames are just awesome, especially the Ultimate Battle that is probably the best one in the game. However i do have one bad thing to say; Wizard can go burn in hell.

2.- Far Future

This world is fantastic, they absolutely knocked it out of the ballpark with this one in (almost) every possible aspect. The zombies and plants are all great, they did their absolute bests with these plants and zombies, i think the plants from this world are the best andw hile the zombies are nto as good since they have some weak ones they are still really descent. The power tiles are also a good gimmick and the Ultimate Battle and Demostration Minigames rock, i'd go as far to say the Demostration Minigame is the best one in the game. The only reason it's not top 1 is because the level design is kinda bland, they had a lot of stuff they could do with these plants and zombies but they mostly just don't do anything much, and also because outside of robots it doesn't really dive further into its future thematic, they could have added more things such as like the high gravity lawn from PvZ 1, orbs that increase or decrease the attack or toughness of the plants and zombies or tiles that make plants switch positions with other plants. Overall a REALLY good world.

1.- Lost City

Fun little history: When i first played Lost City which was around early 2016, i thought it would be a terrible and extremely boring world. And here i am ranking it a top 1, pretty ironic, isn't it? Anyways, i really like this world mainly because of the Plants, they all have so much personality and are really useful, it's really rare seeing a world where all the plants are useful. While the Zombies are not really that original, they are still pretty good, specially the zombies from part 1. I really really like the level design, since it's more fast paced than any other world in the game, which makes it always fun to replay and mixes pretty well with the intense music. This world is just really good in both difficulty and mechanics. I specially like the use of the trap tiles and i wish they appeared a lot more. The only complain i can have is that the Ultimate Battle sounds really lame, since it overuses a lame-sounding piano that isn't even present on the original Lost City soundtracks and it also lacks the extra jingles at some parts just like Frostbite Caves' ultimate battle. But eh, everything else in the world just makes up for it. I love this world.
