Ah, I bet you guys never thought you'd see me here again.

Well, I'm popping in to give my thoughts on the level system in PvZ 2. I dreaded it for a while, but now that its finally here, it's not too bad.

Now, I don't know what the maximum level for each plant is, nor do I know what the upgrades for each of them does. I've noticed that projectiles shot by most plants are smaller now, but I can't tell if any of the plants have actually been made weaker in their default states.

Since I don't care much for PvZ 2 anymore and rarely play it, I decided to upgrade plants on my main profile. The thing is, upgrading is extremely tedious. It seems that Travel Log quests only show up every 4 hours, and for me, I only get 3 quests every time. And, I only get Modern Day quests. The problem I have is that each Piñata you get from quests only gives you 3 seed packets for 2 plants, and from what I can tell most plants need a total of around 500+ seed packets to fully upgrade them.

So, the only way to upgrade your plants without it being a tedious, boring chore is to buy gems and then buy the bigger pinatas in the store. Luckily, I had around a thousand gems and bought 5 of the big pinatas (1 modern day, 1 ancient egypt, 1 big wave beach, 2 neon mixtape tour), but yet my highest level plant is the Spore-shroom at level 3.

My problem with buying Pinatas is that there seems to only be 4 kinds you can buy at the moment, and that I don't think they give you enough seed packets for their price.

My biggest problem with this, though, is that you can only get premium plant seed packets as occasional bonuses in pinatas. So, if I want to level up my most-used plants (Starfruit, Hurricane, Cold Snapdragon), I'm just going to have to try and get as many pinatas as I can and hope I get lucky. Was it really that hard for them to implement some sort of premium piñata that you can get from certain quests? I've spent over a hundred dollars on the plants in this game, I at least expect the ones I paid for to not be a pain to level up.

Now, I know that I complained about what could happen to the balance of the game if the level-up system was implemented, but I myself don't really care about this game as much as I used to so it's not that much of an issue to me anymore. Plus, it looks like the plants won't be too overpowered, judging from the ad I saw in the game urging me to level up my plants "before it's too late!" that showed several new zombies (which just looked like stronger versions of existing ones). I'm assuming that the ad is teasing the additional levels being added after the boss battles in each world, which I believe was something that started to show up in the code around the time I left this place.

Overall, I think thus level-up system has tons of flaws. But perhaps it'll be polished better in future updates... But as it right now, I don't like it. Plus, unless any of the plants were actually made weaker at base level, I have no incentive to actually upgrade my plants (As I can't even see a difference in the performance of the ones I did upgrade anyways).
