Thunder Snapdragon (雷龙草; pinyin: Léi lóng cǎo) is a legendary plant in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2 which was released for the 2.3.95 update. When zombies are four tiles in front of him, he shoots out an electric ball that deals 250 damage directly and 100 damage splash damage in a 3x3 area.

Origins

Much like Cold Snapdragon, Thunder Snapdragon is based on Snapdragon, which is in turn based on the real-life snapdragons, plants from the Antirrhinum genus. This is similar to how Peashooter has ice, fire and electric counterparts.

Strategies

This plant can be very powerful, if used right. He has high damage for low sun cost, and can be used to deal with early zombie waves. Small range should be helped with high-health plants, such as Wall-nut, Wax Guard, or long-range Chest-nut.

This plant is vulnerable to surprise attacks such as "Bot Swarm!" and "Parachute Rain!" as his slow fire rate is easily countered in head-to-head fight. E.M.Peach and Iceberg Lettuce's plant food ability are recommended in such cases. For some reason he does not attack seagull zombies.

At level 2 and higher this plant can be used to briefly paralyze zombots, and a big group of them can effectively lock Zombots out from doing anything. Player is recommended to bring high-damage plants to fasten the fight.

• Thunder Snapdragon's almanac description likely references Thor, the Norse god of thunder and lightning, in several ways including Thunder Snapdragon claiming to be from Asgard (home of the Norse gods) and that he's "The Dragon of Thunder".
• This is the only Snapdragon that uses projectiles as his attack instead of spraying electricity like his fire and ice counterparts.
