    "Caution!"
This thread is about an upcoming part of a Plants vs. Zombies game. Many spoilers may be revealed, and things may change over time. Read at your own risk!

So far we know nothing on 5.1 except:

    - The levelling data has been applied to all plants except Magnet-shroom and Imitater

    - There are upcoming Pinata Parties celebrating worldwide release of PvZH

    - Aloe and Kiwi Beast

But anyway, this thread is for discussing the other things that will go along the way aswell.

    • Which plant will come out first: Aloe or Kiwibeast? I think Aloe.

    • Couldn't we just have speculated about 5.1 in that thread? Why go through all the trouble to create another one? It's just busy work to follow all these threads just for discussing one game. Bleh

    • So when does the heroes event start? And is summer nights really going to end in August?

    • So Lily said that NCS was doing the Epic Quest for Gold Bloom while he was playing Frostbite Caves. That is because he ditched the PvZ series for two years altogether. I wonder when he will start playing GW again.

Also GollddMAN, Starfruity meant that they deleted dialogues from the Brain Buster levels following the original Brain Buster level. Anybody remember the dialogue in Wild West where Penny made Crazy Dave look somewhere but it was only a joke? That was funny. But they deleted that in the 1.7 update. THAT'S what he meant.

    • I still don't get how the Heroes parties will work, maybe we will have i, Zombie as a party?

That's possible because there are 3 parties types, 1 with SuperBraiz which can be for the i, Zombie minigame, 1 for Green Shadow which can be for normal parties and the last one is Zombot 1000 full body I am not sure what will this do.

Finally Aloe will be out, the costumes aren't very good but meh.

Kiwibeast looks cool! But I expected red eyes not pink. But I guess we have to wait for it for 2 or 3 months as aloe

Someone should check the new RSB textures maybe there are more costumes for Potato Mine, Chomper and the zombies. I will try to do it.

There is also a weird zombie head picture in the pinatas part I am not sure how will it work, maybe an icon for i,Zombie parties?

    • What about Apple Mortar?

    • There are textures for zombies heroes and they look cool! The new lawn is cool too. But why are Electric Boogaloo & Super Brainz missing their hair, why doesn't Rust Bolt have Octo body style, why is The Smash carrying Impfinity instead of science Imp, and why does Electric Boogaloo use another style?? Seriously PopCap...

EDIT: I've noticed that all zombies use different styles. Maybe Those zombies are fans as well as plants?

I don't know. That was just an idea. Maybe those pinatas come randomly or maybe they are in the place of horses pinatas and the zombot one it for senor pinata?

According to Ernesto, yes. He linked to pastbin of its coding and it seems to be an attacking plant. 150 sun cost, mediocre recharge, appears in Beghouled, and has projectiles.

Actually, we don't know if he appears in Beghouled or not. Almost every plant in the game has a Beghouled Cost, including ones not in Beghouled.

      - They finally got rid of World Key gift from Zack Scott!

      - They supposedly added... two new Zen Garden boosts?

      - Unlike all other Pinata Parties where their backgrounds are temporary... "HeroesStage" has got its own properties and all that stuff! That's kinda strange, as if it was another world or what?

      - Now all of levels with choosen plants have data near them that states their Level (yes the Levelling Data stuff). I guess they are really preparing for it!

      - There is no more outro dialogue for PS and WW - Day 8

      - New Epic Quest for Aloe coming THIS update! In code it's called "Hello Aloe"

      - That epic quest takes place in this stage "LostCityNightsStage"

      - Some of the PvZ Heroes parties are celebrating "Lead Up" and "Post Launch" of PvZH

      - They added new layer of costumes called "custom_thingsandstuff"

      - Seasonal Costumes in live_config have been turned ON

      - Skip Main Menu entity in live_config has been REMOVED

      - Entites "EnableInfluxDB" and "GrantWorldKeys" have been ADDED

      - PlantLevelling is still turned OFF

      - New PREMIUM plant Apple Mortar with its Levelling Data already added

      - New HERO! Presenting - Barrel Roller! (there is new zombie called "hero_barrelroller" added in this build)

    • Something is not alright. Every Travel Log quest related to winning a World Key and defeating a Gargantuar has been changed to only defeat the Gargs.

      Example:

Old: Face the furious Gargantuar of Far Future Day 8 to earn a realm-jumping World Key!

      Old: Win a World Key!

New: Face the furious Gargantuar of Far Future Day 8!

      New: Defeat the Gargantuar!

And it's like that with every other Garg fight aswell.

No. It appears in the beghouled level in the epic quest so that would make no sense.

Also, Kiwibeast might either be a random premium like the old premiums or an epic quest related premium because one of the epic quest levels involving Aloe has Penny mention that they make a good pair.

Salut is Hello in French. Aloe Hello makes no sense.

      I thought it was "bonjour?"

Also, from what I've heard, Aloe and Kiwibeast are in the same update, we can make our own costumes, Gold Leaf and Thyme Warp are STILL restricted from other worlds, There's an official release date for Heroes, There's a new thing called Apple Mortar, the three plants can now have permanent costumes, and whatever the f**k "EnableInfluxDB" and "GrantWorldKeys" means.

So the new account is dead?

He's might not be a Phat Beet clone. We don't know if it attacks in a 3x3 area and costs 50 more sun than Phat Beet with a growing mechanic. It's actually sort of original.

Not to be a party pooper, but Kiwibeast uses Phat Beet's thumping sound.

With that said however, Aloe + Kiwibeast is gonna be OP...

    • Well truer words have never been said by the guy above me. Aloe really got nerfed man. Not only does it start healing only when the plant gets below 50% health, but doesn't even heal it back to full health, only by little. This means, once Aloe has done healing a plant (let's say a defensive plant) that's about to die to about 50% health (ignoring the fact that the plant may die from zombies anyway), it will stop healing since it reaches that threshold and Aloe deactivates. So not only does it has a sucky range but also doesn't do its job properly. You know what? Rather than wasting my sun on a garbage like this, I'd rather use Wall-nut First Aid for my share of healing, thank you very much. Man, I was so hyped for this plant and they had to ruin it.

      Dandelion was buffed?

It now attacks faster than it used to and recharges faster after a Blover/Hurrikale is used with it. That's the only real plant buff I've seen added in an update though except for glitches or fixing Blooming Heart.

In case anybody can't tell, that's my opinion on Aloe.

True, I watched two videos of Aloe's gameplay and these are the problems that I immediately noticed:

      • As previously stated, it activates when the health of a plant reaches 50% and if it starts healing a plant it will stop again at that 50% threshold.
      • Doesn't heal fully meaning you won't get your defensive plants to full health using Aloe.
      • That water droplet itself has a timer meaning even at 50% or below health, it won't continously heal. It has to wait between heals for about 3 seconds.
      • That seed packet recharge is also crap meaning you can't even rely on putting "as many as you can" strategy.

Like seriously, GIVE US ONE THING OR THE OTHER!! I hope the people who were complaining about Aloe being a Heavenly Peach clone can now sleep in peace as it is now a weaker and an utterly useless Heavenly Peach which clones aren't usually.

Agreed. I don't get excited for utterly useless pieces of trash masquerading as plants.

      • Doesn't heal fully meaning you won;t get your defensive plants to full health using Aloe.

That, and his heal may as well not exist. It's so f***ing irrelevant this plant may as well be a meat shield.

EDIT: And for those of you wondering, this plant is an easy contender for both my worst plants list and my least favorite list. I may be a little quick to judge here, but form what I've seen this plant is not appetizing.

This plant could have been great and paired with Wall-nut, Tall-nut, Primal Wall-nut, Infi-nut or hell even Pea-nut, this plant could have been awesome. But as it stands now, it's shizz, hands down.

Yeah, I'm definitely too quick to judge, so we'll see what happens on July 7th when the SR comes out and I get my hands on Aloe. Then I can judge for myself if it's really that terrible.

    • That heal doesn't even matter, plant is dead before another water drop.

    • I personally think that Aloe should at least be able to heal 1 degrade with a water drop. (I.E. Regenerating Infi-nut to weakened Infi-nut) Right now it doesn't even do that to Infi-nut, and like I said above it's still regenerating even after Aloe heals it.

    • SO in a nutshell, we can agree on the fact that Aloe sucks. A plant that was so hyped for because of it's unique ability to heal others turned out to be utter garbage because of the developers' poor decisions.

      1. It would take half a year to probably beat PvZ2 if it was kept in pre-1.7 design with all the current worlds, as opposed to about a week, which is fine for a mobile game.

      3. You can only blame BWB for it's sixteenth day. Others are rather fair and have their true challenge.

      6. Modern Day can be only blamed for not being well thought when being developed. What it only lacked, was the "actual" five-jalapeno difficulty, and climactic ending.

      EDIT2: Rephrased

      1. Fair point, but I do like a branching path style more than the current linear progression of the game. They could have toned down some aspects about the old system to make it less grindy, but alas.

      2. Big Wave Beach - Day 3 and Big Wave Beach - Day 25 say hello.

      3. Also somewhat fair, but my point for including Modern Day was that it wasn't a good ending to PVZ2 at all.

Except both are unoriginal. Cold Snapdragon is an icy Snapdragon clone and Explode-o-"Nut" is a Cherry Bomb/Wall-nut mix.

However, I just played Explode-o-nut's first pinata party and I must admit, it's pretty funny when the All-Star Zombies charge into their deaths especially because of how annoying they are.

They're overpowered as heck, and can win levels on their own with little to no support. Plus they outclass other plants.

Well... it is a decent plant, but they made it too weak) Now a bit off-topic: I made a teaser for my first PvZ 2 short I'm currently working on.

What's wrong with CS and EoN? They're awesome plants.
They're overpowered as heck, and can win levels on their own with little to no support. Plus they outclass other plants.

EDIT: Yes, Cold Snapdragon is still among my favorite plants. But releasing him as OP as he is was just a mistake.

Well, it's true. But if we talk about bad decisions related to plants, there are other options around there.

Are we talking about function or cost? The main problem I see with all of these is their cost, their functions (except Heart and Berry) are not bad.

Function, and, come on, Pea-nut it's one of the (if not THE) worst premium plants ever.

Technically, if you don't mind the sun cost, it's an upgrade from a normal Wall-nut as its health and recharge is the same as it.

But we do mind the sun cost, and don't use normal Wall-nut. Not to mention the pea ability is so weak against barrel roller and stuff like that, and the plant costs money.

      • Yes, although it takes less time to consume overall, it takes the same time for all types of zombies. The Chomper took different times for different types of zombies in PvZ. It ate faster for weaker zombies which doesn't happen in PvZ 2.
      • Doesn't eat machines.
      • Has an idle animation after planting like most other plants during which it can get eaten instead which didn't happen in PvZ.
      • It has a burping animation after eating during which it can get eaten which never happened in PvZ. Go figure.

Overall it's a waste of money.

Also, don't forget that in the first game the waves were generally more spread and there were less zombies. In this game it's hard to tell the difference between a "huge wave" and a normal spawn wave. That and the sheer amount of insta-killers in this game...

But I still think while Chomper is really bad Blooming heart is absolute garbage (or however you described Bowling Bulb) - not only does it cost so much more than everything else, it has an ability almost identical to Cabbage Pult, which is arguably worse to spend money for than even Chomper.

Aloe is a pun on allo the French word for hello and salut is hi so it's like someone answering the phone and he says:Allo! Salut (in french) or Hello! Hi (in english)

Don't forget that was the case in PvZ1 as well.

    • Why does no one mention Bowling Bulb? Anyways,

Chomper would've been better if it had more health, less chewing time, and not a premium. Then EVERYBODY would like the Chomper a bit more.

Snow Pea is a premium. Daheq?

Squash is a premium also, but not Cherry Bomb. Okay.....

      Jalapeno: ^

      Starfruit: ^^

I don't get why people hate Pea-nut so much. If it had Tall-nut health, WOULD y'all guys be happy?

I honestly don't know why Blooming Heart is awful to most of y'all.

Garlic could've diverted like 10 zombies to make it good.

I don't know why Electric Blueberry is awful either. Maybe its firing rate is slow? I haven't tried those guys.

      - More data related to Apple Mortar has been added

      - Stallia's textures have been updated

      - UI for the World Map has been updated

Stallia's textures got updated? What did they add? Some new costume? A new effect that only appears if it's upgraded?

      1. Chomper having more health wouldn't make sense. Plus, less chewing time still means nothing in Endless Zones.

      2. No, I hate Pea-nut because it's awfully bad, even in normal levels (I've played with him in other phones). It fires at the same rate of a Peashooter despite, you know, HAVING TWO HEADS. And when damaged enough, his fire rate GETS HALVED. And the worst parts its that it can't be powered by Torchwood because that practically makes his defense useless. For me, Pea-nut it's the worst premium plant of all time. Seriously, a Repeater behind a Primal Wall-nut it's much netter, even if that takes two spaces and costs 125 more sun. Pea-nut it's not worth it.

      3. Electric Blueberry it's bad because she prefers to attack basic zombies even if a Gargantuar it's right in front of her while the zombie she killed it's at the first tile of the lawn.

      THE F*CKING F*CK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Sry that was loud.

Whhhyyyyy?? I'll never ever understand Popcap ever. Why they made the almanac blue? Dunno. Why they removed dialogues that didn't need to be removed? Hell if I know.

Now these Garg statues. Are they just gonna be replaced with hands holding keys like they did with LC and up? Honestly, those are less detailed and menacing than they should be. I can't believe Popcap would remove their own work that they actually put effort into, leaving the lazy stuff behind. This is going to give them a bad reputation for players old and new.

Me? I started playing this game a few days before BWB part 2 came out coincidentally, and I thought everything was fine the way it was at first. Then I found out that a plant called Pea-nut existed and I was like "what". It was then I was beginning to think that Popcap was lazy. After LC came out, I knew there was something wrong: There's no Garg statue! Then I got really pissed when they started releasing premiums again. And I really wanted Toadstool too!!!

I didn't mean to give you my life story, but I just don't frigin get it! Popcap is not only lazy, but is now removing content to make the game seem like it was CREATED lazy! It only got lazy after Far Future, and I really wish it would've been kept that way.

As far as Pea-nut is concerned. I would have liked it to have Tall-nut health since it costs money and its projectiles and fire rate do sh*t against zombies. Also the seed packet recharge sucks.

Aloe's quest has 8 levels, not 10, so reality check on that one. And even if there were 10 levels, it wouldn't all take place in Lost City, so you lose that part of the statement as well. So there is really no use for a night-time Lost City. I admit it does look cool, but in terms of requirement, it's value is zero.

Actually the Epic Quest has 10 levels, they just added the remaining two in the newest beta.

And they also changed some of the levels that used LostCityNightsStage to use LostCityStage now, but in exchange of removing the sun dropper module.

That's so dumb. Why are they removing them? I liked all of them (well, except for the giant hand ones), because they gave some cool artistic-"ness" to the post 1.7 maps.

For starters again, starting from 5.1 you get all 10 World Keys in your hand after beating AE - Day 8.

And that is really, really dumb. Changing the progression system so that you can unlock the worlds in any order was bad enough, but now you can access every world from the beginning?

What with this, Aloe, and how the leveling system appears to be turning out, I may just stop playing this game altogether.

Yeah I'm still ticked at this situation. After this update i'm not trusting Popcap to do anything correctly again. Ever.

No, it's intentional.  Also, I find it funny that you people think the game is automaically ruined because they took away the Gargantuar statues.  There's still the same frickin level, dammit! And I'm fine with being able to access any world ever, because there is no story.  Nothing ties together unless it has the word "taco" in it, so does it really matter?  Plus, most of us have completed the game anyways, so this means nothing to us.

Actually, aesthetics is everything in an animated game like pvz 2. That's why we all hate the plants in the chinese version and in pvzA, and the changing of the map since Lost City. It's not just about the plotline or the gameplay.

That's so dumb. Why are they removing them? I liked all of them (well, except for the giant hand ones), because they gave some cool artistic-"ness" to the post 1.7 maps.

And if they're going to do this, PopCap'd better fix the worlds too so that they all have the same amount of levels.

I don't think they will add new levels or remove any because why? What about the players who already completed all the worlds

      *ahem* (Update 1.7)

    • What are they planning? Are they going to remodel the maps, and the Garg statues are the start. I'm hoping for the return of branching paths where Brain Busters are separated like before 1.7.

This game is being constantly ruined by crap like this. We were excited about getting an arcade machine with minigames, but now it might not ever be a thing. Popcap keeps removing things we like about the game, leaving behind the lazy stuff. It's like they're making the game bad on purpose. It would take about a month to list everything wrong with this game as it is.

And those poor artists too! They put time and effort into those statues until the LC one, but they still put some effort into it. To bad all their hard work will be erased now. All this game needs is optimizations and bug fixes and at least a little love. Love is something this game hasn't been developed with since FF.

Don't you care that we players, and the artists of this game are getting ripped off? Don't you think the game is hitting the crapper and should be completely abandoned at this point? Popcap can't seem to do anything right anymore. They're dead to me now.

The statues don't affect the gameplay.  Yes, they're nice to look at, but ultimately don't affect the gameplay. The same artist probably did the Zomboss podiums too, and those are stayong in the game. (They did the plants and zombies, too, I'll bet).

I personally never cared about the arcade machine, but I do want the jukebox.

    • I don't mind the statue removal; if anything it gives the game more consistency, something it REALLY needs right now. However, I'm not happy about getting all 10 World Keys at once... But at least ZackScott's Key is FINALLY gone, so you actually get some experience before being allowed to go to Modern Day... However, now player's are encouraged even more so to go to Modern Day FIRST...

This makes no sense. PopCap can't seem to grasp their progression system ever. Originally worlds had to be traveled to in order, but then they changed that. Yet they continued to make the story follow from world to world. Then they allow players to unlock EVERY WORLD all at once, meaning they will NOT go in order in the slightest, and Modern Day, the only world with a hint of proper story line, will end up making no sense since it can be accessed immediately! WHY!?

        Loading editor
    • Everything I've wanted to say has more or less already been passed. But still, what is the point of this? It serves 0 purpose to remove them. If the concern was the world keys, they could have just edited the sprites to remove the keys. Then we could at least still have the statues.

      1. Sure because effort was put into them somewhat. The best worlds were those up to FF simply because everything had an original concept and were really fun to play overall. JM sucked because it forced you to be ready for anything in all lanes on the first wave at times, which didn't allow you to cruise through any of the levels smoothly, and overall it just ruined the whole experience.

      2. I hope so. I think it's just about time to move on, if not now.

      3. Again, I care because the artist(s) is getting ripped off in some way, unless they actually agreed to it, which I doubt. Popcap is not only being mean to us, but also to their own employees.

      4. See? Even you wanted something that very well could not ever be in the game ever because for some reason Popcap doesn't like good ideas, and are removing those that are already in the game, purposfully making the game seem like it was created lazily. This is giving them a bad reputation.

That's not so much laziness anymore since it was already created, but...why? I don't understand, and I don't like it. I'd only be happy if a real endless zone or new world was created, but that's a long shot.

Ah yes. And I still stand by that. Sure, removing the Garg statues doesn't affect the gameplay, but it's a pointless f***ing decision. The Garg statues and boss podiums were the only good things about the post 1.7. maps, and now the Garg statues are being removed. Hopefully they see how stupid this decision is and either not implement it, or re-implement it after they get massive backlash (and we know they will). But, I fear that being able to access all worlds from the beginning is something that will stay. Which also makes me angry.

What is the point? They have the ability of updating sprite sheets.

How about since it is a boss battle, keep the statue to signify it as such and just remove the world keys from their hands to just make it look like a garg statue (just without the key)? It is a boss battle level but now other than that small skull on the level, there is nothing else to signify that. That's the point.

Well in Ancient Egypt, you get world keys for beating it, so it's significant. Elsewhere, it makes sense. Gargantuar levels don't have much significance now anyways; the Gargantuar is always encountered before the level.

Ideally, I would like them to include the statues, but redo them all, so that they don't have inconsistencies or inaccuracies. Remove the World Keys from all of them, and either make them all full statues or just hands. However, if they're just gonna remove the keys and leave the rest as is, I'd honestly rather get rid of them completely.

Instead of removing how about just edit the textures and remove the keys from their hands? PopCap won't change the hands to the full-body statues, so at least we would have something instead of just a blank space.

I think I'll make some mock-up art of what the Gargantuar statues would look like in my ideal style...

Instead of removing how about just edit the textures and remove the keys from their hands? PopCap won't change the hands to the full-body statues, so at least we would have something instead of just a blank space.

Now be honest, whether it makes sense or not (I know it does), do you really like how the map looks now or what it becomes next? Do you really like the bland and bleak map we are getting next update? Are you really okay with that from an artistic POV?

I honestly don't get why everybody's making such a fuss about this. Nobody gave a damn every time they changed something relating to core gameplay, which they've done a thousand times, but now that they remove an insignificant bit of artwork, that while cool to look at doesn't affect gameplay whatsoever, everybody freaks out!

We have complained about gameplay before. We hate the Imp-triggers-next-wave thing. We hate that BWB is harder than MD. We hate that Jurrasic Bully doesn't have a proper ability. This Garg statue situation is just as bad as those. They don't care about how we play or what we look at anymore. They just do what they want because... reasons. Also the artist(s) is getting ripped off, unless they agreed to it, which I highly doubt.

      I made a relevant meme.

Well honestly it's a matter of personal perspective. I don't care how they make the gameplay as long as it still stays true to its strategic approach to levels (and more or less so far they have). However, visually it makes the game look more blank than what it was before to me and when a game looks bad, I usually don't even play to care about gameplay. To me presentation has to be a part of the package. As for freaking out, a large part of the community feaked out when they changed the system back in v1.7. The reason mostly no one us that much worried because other than just giving us 10 keys, the game progression still hasn't changed that much. If anything it just messes up the story (which surprisingly you are the most vocal about which no one else seems to mind and care). So both parties are even.

One more thing, some players here might not mind but a majority has stated that they dislike this change (and they have over the course of the game updates but you seem to disregard that). Overall, it's a matter of different opinions. Memes (which is funny), honestly won't make you look any more smart than us.

I'm not trying to look smarter than you; don't take that meme the wrong way. It was just something that popped into my head as I was typing the last paragraph in my last post.

Yes, there have been both supporters and opposers of both gameplay changes and artwork changes, but I always feel like I'm in the minority no matter which side I happen to be on for that issue. Whatever, it doesn't even matter. I've learned from experience that PopCap doesn't care when we don't like something; they always do it anyways.

    • I mean, I don't really care too much that they removed the Garg statues, but...why? Was there a reason? Yeah, maybe they won't give world keys but at least the statues looked good, and signified an "ultimate battle" point. Now the Garg battle is just another level, just with a skull (for the most part Garg levels are easier than non-garg levels. BWB Day 16, and maybe NMT's are really the only exception)

The people on this wiki aren't too large of an audience. Perhaps they are listening to a larger audience clamoring for things like more premium plants, more "simple" designs, "balance" (such as the GL/TW situation), etc.

Really? All I've heard from the "larger audience" is the same complaints or asking for more worlds.

    • I'm not really a big fan of the removal of some really cool artwork or the upcoming levelling system or the world keys being given to players all at once or the absence of gemiums and constant premiums but I know I'm still going to enjoy the game. Hopefully there will be more worlds after this as they are the best thing about the game, if they have a good idea there really is no reason for them to not make that world. I'm hoping for ancient greece.

It was kind of sarcastic. No matter how large the audience is PopCap is making us feel left out.

I really want Ancient Greece (or Rome) too. But all we can do is dream. Ancient Greece will come out when we get another Gemium.

    • I'm just sick of this game now. I'm just playing PvZ Heroes and GW2 now. They just seem in a much better situation right now.

    • Look, personally, I didn't really like the statue removal, but frankly, it's just statues after all, at least it doesn't change the gameplay (but one them need tho, lol).

If it were me, I would agree with Starfruity on one thing, they could re-add the Garg statues, but with edited textures. I would see it as some sort of a partial remodeling, in any case, hoping they change the map again as a cross between pre-1.7 and post-1.7.

With that being said, I think most people are overreacting to this change. I get that it is dissapointing, but, truth to be told, it could've been worse. I know many things we can overly react to, statue removal in not one thing. I mean, come on, it's just a game.
