  • I've noticed that, apparently, Zombie King and Fisherman Zombie are both capable of killing other zombies of the same type should they attempt to spawn on a pre-existing zombie, since there can only be one zombie of those types on a tile at a time, and only on the rightmost column. Need proof? Here you go:

    • Endless Zones can hand over Plant Food for free, without even needing to kill the zombie in question.
    • I hear popping sounds from the zombies in question dying, but I don't see any death animations.
    • Today, I had a Travel Log quest which told me "kill 180 Fishermen!" which I initially thought was utterly suspicious and a result of developer oblivion. However, I played Tiki Torch-er with Deep Sea Gargantuars, Surfer Zombies, Fisherman Zombies, boosted Infi-nut, and a few power-ups at the final wave. There was no way I would have killed more than 20 Fishermen, but guess what? It considered me to have killed 87 Fishermen. I don't even...

I therefore conclude that this occurs. I wanted to make a note of this for documentation purposes.

    • What? O_o Can you double check? If it turns out the same as this, put it in the triva.

    • Does the old one play its death animation and the new one appear with its spawning animation? Or do they sort of instantly replace each other without a visible difference?

      I wouldn't have posted this if I wasn't sure.

Neither. It's like the latter, but the old one remains, it seems.

    • Cavia porcellus told me that they respawn on top of each other when they're alive, not kill each other. It's not like Imp Cannon, which can stack.

Can't tell if that's good or bad O_o

You're kind of contradicting yourself there. It sounds like you're saying they can stack but can't stack.

Zombie Kings and Fisherman Zombies cannot stack. Imp Cannons can stack.

Suspiciously, I noticed that final waves can do this even if there aren't any tile zombies on-screen. Perhaps they overlap each other?

    • I wasn't saying it as a fact. It was just my interpretation based on this thread. I don't play Big Wave Beach, so I don't keep an eye on what goes on there.

If they can't stack, how do they respawn on top of each other like you said?

Simple: they end up crushing each other. The kings try to respawn where a King already is, but cannot.

So the new one that spawns instantly dies, or they both kill each other?

      The new one instantly dies.

    • Well its true. When I edited LC day 2 to them to come from Parachute Rains, they all took damage.

      Thanks for that.

    • They do not crush or kill or stack each other. The unnecessary of them are outside of the lawn. I believe PopCap has installed a system that makes all non-speed zombies instantly die if they are unable to spawn at the 9th column. In Endless Zones, there are a lot of zombies spawned at very far columns, not the 10th column like we usually think. It is possible that the Zombie Kings and Fisherman Zombies are spawned there, but because they are impossible to defeat, they are made to instantly die. If someone notices closely, there will be Zombie Kings' dying head on the rightmost screen. If EZ existed in Chinese version, this would be explained very clearly.

For some reason, I think they act like "plants", which means they takes space of a tile. If they were "plantable" on each other like Tile Turnip, then the weird dying would never exist.

Now I need to go delve into Arthur's Challenge again and look into this...

    • Uselessguy wrote that such deaths occur due to the zombies in question spawning where they cannot legally spawn

      That actually makes sense.

    • It might just be popcap being lazy and repeating the same code as imp cannon, but instead of being able to stack, if two or more happen to spawn at the same time, only one can stay.

That's a great theory. PopCap is just unaware of what they make.

    • Put this in the glitch page

    • Thís is not a glitch. It is the system that is used to instantly kill all non-speed zombies when they are outside the lawn.

Only one non-speed zombie can be on one tile on the final column. But it is possible that they can be spawned on other tiles. There is no laziness from this, and Imp Cannon is a very different non-speed zombie. It still does move, so it can be stacked. But for Zombie King and Fisherman, they do not move at all and they are like "plants", they take whole tile. There can't be more than 5 zombies on one column, but there can be if these spawn in various columns. Spore-shroom is also a great example, as he can't spawn new clones on the tile that is being taken.

It's really more of an oversight than a glitch, what with the death animation and sound effects still playing when those zombies really shouldn't even be there. They may count enough to add it to the glitches page, but I'm not sure.
