    • So...continuing on for talk about the leaks, what zombie do you guys like the most. I actually like the Imp Porter because well...for starters, it isn't a clone like the other 2 non-zombots... and well, I'm going to bet there's a s*** ton of Gold Tiles in part 2 because of him.

      The template was outdated. Should also say that "Continuation threads will be created when thread exceeds 300-500 replies" as per rules instead of the 500 on that template.

    • I had an idea, Relic Hunter is most likely an Indiana Jones reference and will probably arrive to the lawn swinging in some sort of whip, so there's a chance that it could use said whip to attack plants after landing, dealing more damage or attacking multiple plants at once. Thoughts?

    • Well, I always use the "Reset button" to skips Gargantuars and the combo of Fisherman and Octo Zombies in BWB. In some worlds the Gargantuars are impossible.

      Endurian: Ripped straight from PvZ Online

      Stallia: Stunion/FBC Iceberg Lettuce Clone

      Gold Leaf: Tile Turnip Clone

      Lost Pilot: Swashbuckler Clone

      Excavator: Screen Door Clone

      Parasol: Pretty much a more fair Surfer.

      Bug: Jetpack clone

      Relic Hunter: Swashbuckler Clone

      Crystal Skull: Ra/Magnifying Grass clone

      Imp Porter: Original, it seems.

      Zomboss: I'm unsure how he functions.

      Overall, like Frostbite Caves, this world is chock full of clones. And why, in my opinion, they should stop adding worlds, and end the game already.

It also has around 7GB internal memory but it does have the option to add an SD card, and I really have no problem with it.

      My tablet, 10.1 inch, 1,4 Quad Core, android 4.2.2 has no problem with PvZ2 either, and it costs around 125$

    • So the zomboss fight may have sun. Imp porter could establish tents on trap tiles, but there's turquoise skull zombie. Maybe he can shoot without sun or it'll be regular level like intelectual games' hacked zomboss fights. It's definitely not last stand cause sun doesn't fall from the sky there. Eventually it's sun delivery or something :> Anyway I'm glad that they used lost pilots there. Also sand bags are refered as projectiles.

      I have three ideas:

      1. Some are already on the lawn.

      2. Gold Leaf is a plant in the boss battle

      3. Gold Tiles could come via conveyer-belt, like Far Future, but that defeats the point of Gold Leaf.

      Those are actually pretty good choices. Laser Bean affects all lanes. Snapdragon has an AOE attack. And Cherry Bomb WOULD definitely help in BWB - Day 16. Melon-pult is good too.

      To be honest, BWB - Day 16 is the only level in PvZ2 I actually despise, not because of BB (should be buffed), but because of the lack of AOE plants and Low Tides (I've said it before).You have a point, Cherry Bomb should be there.

      Back on topic, am I the only who noticed it's the first time we see Dr. Zomboss without his evil smile since Level 5 - 10 as seen in the trailer.

      Akee is still the same concept as Bloomerang and Laser Bean, just a lobbed version of them. Stallia slows down zombies, and functions almost exactly like the iceberg lettuce in Frostbite Caves. Parasol is a surfer clone because it blocks Lobbed shots, like the surfer. Jetpacks also have a huge weakness: Blover. Turquoise skull's a magnifying grass for zombies. While these all may be original in some ways, they all still have ideas taken from other plants and zombies. It IS proof that popcap is running out of ideas. It's not their fault though. As we know, EA are always the ones to blame.

      But jetpack absorbs 16 NDS, while bug absorbs 18 NDS. Also bug drops a zombie that can even be a buckethead. The only weakness that bug have but jetpack doesn't is butter.

    • This trailer looks weird. PopCap shows all leaked contents clearly. I have a feeling that this one is kinda rushed: too short and no note texts in end of the trailer, only 2 acts.

      Stallia is a defensive plant that can stun like Stunion. However, using the stun ability takes away some of its health. This makes it a great walling plant that can stall threats that would destroy it instantly, like Gargantuars.


      Also, just the word Dahlia makes my skin crawl. Curse you, Ace Attorney series!

    • Man, wouldn't it be really cool if popcap released a PvZ RPG, then we could really get to know the plants and Zombies Personallities better, because it always seems like every time I play PvZ, I'm using mindless plants against mindless zombies with no backround. The Almanac gives them some traits, but I'd love to see more interaction between the plants and zombies. (Sorry seeing that imp poking the toadstool made me think of this idea lol) 


      I find it kind of weird how popcap fails to acknowledge that Toadstool is a mushroom. I mean, h-SHE is the first new mushroom!

      Developers (at least initially) own 100% of the IP for the games they make. However they may negotiate the IP ownership with the publisher so they also have a share of it. We have no way of knowing how much of the IP is owned by the developer vs. the publisher unless they tell us.

      Also game developers don't need publishers at all. PopCap itself is a pretty good example; their original games (the first PvZ included) were all developed and published by PopCap itself.

      However in the case of Popcap and EA, this is completely moot because PopCap is a wholly owned subsidiary of EA. This means EA owns 100% of the IP.

      The ratios are 1:4 and 5:32. For a ratio to be correct, you can't use decimals.

      Toadstool- Same story as chomper, the gimmicks may seem tempting, but not AOE and super long chew time, plus minimum sun payoff=not gud.

      I'm sure that even if my idea is correct (which it probably isn't), they had the trailer all ready, and were just waiting for the right time. However, they still use concepts that we've seen in other zombies before, or ones we should've seen by this point. Example to prove my point: Zombies such as the Wizard, Surfer, Football Mech, and Imp Cannon are all completely original zombies that use completely new concepts that we've never seen before. The zombies in Lost City may use some original ideas, but all of their core concepts came from other Zombies. Frostbite caves was worse than Lost City with it's zombies though, seeing as how pretty much every zombie was a complete clone. (Hunter: A zombie that makes plants useless. Just like Wizard and Octo. Dodo: Can float over plants, like Jetpack. Blockhead: Literally a Knight reskin. Troglobite: Original, but uses some concepts from Barrel Roller. Weasel Hoarder: Literally just a tougher Chicken Wrangler) My point is that, like someone else previously said, The worlds are getting worse the longer it goes on. With less original new plants and zombies, and no new brain busters. (And in Lost City's case, removing brain busters. It was originally supposed to be a regular game, released on mobile first, and released to other consoles later.     • For anyone saying that PvZ2 is not as good as PvZ1, remember that PvZ2 has over 200 playable levels! That's a ton compared to PvZ1's 50, even counting minigames and Puzzle levels. For those who are completionists, like me, I really like that it has that much gameplay available. Just keep that in mind.

      If I were as nitpicky as you are, I would say:

      • Camel is a bunch of Shield zombies in a group
      • Pharaoh is a heavily armored zombie like Football zombie
      • Barrel Roller and Pianist crush plants like Zomboni
      • Zombie Parrot steals your plants like Bungee Zombie
      • Prospector Zombie has the special ability to appear in the back row and attack your plants from behind, like Digger Zombie
      • Jetpack floats over your defenses and is vulnerable to Blover like Balloon Zombie (from PvZ1)
      • Surfer Zombie (which you said is original) is speedy on the water but slower on land, like Dolphin Rider
      • Football Mech Zombie (another original zombie in your list) is basically a reverse Qigong Zombie
      • Imp Cannon (which you also claimed is original) is immobile and attacks plants in the back like Catapult Zombie

      And so on. This is a very basic tower defense game which can only have so much variety. Some zombies will have weaknesses against certain plants and immunity against others. Some zombies will benefit from certain environmental modifiers. The basic speed/health stats can be tweaked. That's about it. You can't do a whole lot.

      • .BNK files: These are WWise Soundbanks, and contain audio information
      • .PTX files: I believe these are texture files. Possibly derived from ImgTec's PVR texture format
      • .PAM files: I believe these define animations. Probably a proprietary PopCap format

      There's no guarantee that you'll get a counter for Excavator early, now that the amount of plants is rather high. I had to wait until level 18 until I can get Pepper-pult, level 22 till Fire Peashooter, and might have got Infi-nut if weasels + wind did not ruin my defense in level 25.

And I think he really got it done very well - the later themes are just amazing. But they keeped Laura's theme for AE because it was fit - AE is a world with a slower progress of levels, more PvZish, while the rest of the worlds have a PvZ2ish way of progress. I like to think to AE as a PvZ1-PvZ2 transition.

      He unpacked \ATLASES\UI_SEEDPACKETS_XXXX_00.PTX and loaded the texture. Pretty much this (the one below is from 3.6.1):

      The difference is he's using the right parameters to load the texture, and I'm not. I think it's very silly to put that watermark there, specially considering someone else (see File:Untitleduwqtwd.png) has already unpacked those seed packets.

      I really don't think so, just let's make a list of how complex each world is:

      AE-PS-WW They were great worlds, very PvZish, but really I couldn't see anything amazing there. The concepts were good, but not extraordinary - graves as obstacles, planks (well, maybe this one was a bit interesting), minecarts

      FF - The amazing Far Future world, now in color. This was exciting, especially because of all those bright colors (spacey lawn, power tiles, colored palnts - green, orange, blue, all with interesting futuristic details, mecha-nized zombies - that really looked amazing and perfect), and the great music (I call it Blasting&Blitzkrieg for a reason). Sun bomb and power tiles where great, and everybody goes crazy 'bout them cause they were inovative. Great world.

      DA - This world was the one that really turned me from an ocasional player to a daily player. The amount of excitement was great, I remember having leaked gameplay pics all over my facebook, background of all devices, and when part 1 it came - I played it 3 times in a stand...it was something both amazing and challenging. But it still was short. Part 2 had a couple of hard (insane for the skills I had then) levels, but I got through them. The features were amazing, the music - fantastic, and the medieval excitement - over anything previously existing. I mean, night setting, medieval zombies, fanvorites mushrooms.

      I really think DA is the point that defined PvZ2...before it, the game was not much more over the first one as skills and gameplay. It was a colorful and good designed sequel. But after DA, it really turned into an entity of its own - in a good way.

      BWB - Probably the world I was more excited for a long time - the tide gimmiks - completly new and amazing, the zombies - amazing beachy 60s zombies. I personally watched the trailer many times before the soft release (like many many times). The levels of Part 1 were hard but accesible, while Part 2 is still to this day the most challenging (and sometimes impossible) part of the whole PvZ2. But, even if then I was angry about it, now I accept it as beeing so. The music was also one of the greatest ever.

      FC - I think Frostbite Caves is an amazing world, I like it very much for bringing the fun back to PvZ2 - The zombies, amazing prehistoric ones, with features of prehistoric animals as well, the plants - finally, good ones, the gimmicks - great and masterable, the gameplay - fun, the music- same. It was an easier world, but just because we had more counter plants not as much for the zombies but for the enviroment of this world.

      LC - I think this is the most amazing world ever - I doesn't have the best idea for a gimmick (still a good one, though). The lawn, in the first place, is AMAZING. The plants fit extremly well (I dont think we had such a good fiting of plants for a long time), beeing all tropical and stuff. The new extremly fast pace of the game - well, we could consider it a gimmick as well. The amount of excitement - over anything measurable. And I really don't mind the invincible accesories the zombies have, they just add flavor to the game, and limit your choices.

      As for the fewer plants per world - I really think that is a good thing - we already have a great amount of plants from previous worlds, 5/world+2prems is enough for me. But more levels per world - great!!!

      And for the clones - as long as they fit in the world, I am really ok with it. Newer world thind to have much cloned content, but they usually come with their own twist to it and as much new content.

Even though it is old and no more excited when seeing old trailers in 2014, I still think every world after WW is truly amazing and addictive, which is the main reason why I have been seriously loving PvZ2 for years! Moreover, there are tons of plants now. Special-edition plants likely replace the missed numbers of plants in each world after FF, making me love more. The gemium plants are extremely great and helpful.

      I must say PvZ2 is the best game ever for me, and I can't help playing every time.

    • I'd prefer the original Dark Ages over the new Dark Ages. Only 16 levels, at least it is balanced. Also, tell PopCap to stop making new plants for a short period. The most recent returning plant is Tangle Kelp!

      Biggest problem for me with Dark Ages is not interesting zombies. That is why it has only 20 levels, since none of 4 special zombies have fun stuff to work with. Knight and King just for extra toughness, Jester to prevent using strong plants (btw, I don't have problem with that. It's kinda the thing that they have to do) and Wizard "kill it as fast as possible". Small amount of plants is never a problem (for me, at least).

      I agree. But as for clones - they have to be at least a bit different. Relic hunter should swing in on the first swing. Otheres are ok (even blockhead is stronger version of knight, not the same).

      Well, I really like that fragment and I am sad we dont get to listen the whole thing. As for the pace of it, I really think the one by Laura Sighihara is not as fast-paced as the final version and also it is more musical.

    • Off-topic, but IG was acting all pissy in the Youtube comments claiming the packets were his "own work" so he was entitled to putting his watermark on them. When I pointed out the packets were not "his" work; but just PopCap's work that he stole, he backtracked and deleted the comment thread.

      I'll never understand idiots like him. This is like stealing the Mona Lisa and then signing your name on it. It's not your work, you stole it. Don't mess with it.

      Edit the textures: You mean editing them and putting them back in the game? Possible, but too many changes may cause problems.

      Make animations: Sure. But you would need to load them into an external program and then animate them. If you mean changing the game's animations in-game that may prove to be a much harder task.

      Yes, like Flash.

      The animation files are in the OBB and I have already extracted them (obb_resources.7z). But they're in a proprietary PopCap format that I believe will be difficult to reverse engineer.

      No, Wild West and Far Future have a preplanted peashooter first time through the world tutorial.

      Same with Ancient Egypt where they show you the mechanics for Plant Food with a Peashooter. Also, in Far Future Level 1 (the first time), there are Peashooters to demonstrate the Power Tiles.

      But I guess, Boss-inator is speaking about levels that are pre-planted everytime and not just the first time.

      I won't release anything because I don't own the material. But I will modify OBBPatcher to extract the textures from the OBB (the easy part), and I'll explain how you can load them and/or convert them to PNG or whatever... Provided that I can figure out how to load them; this is currently a work in progress (the hard part).

      The audio is in WWise Soundbanks. I have already extracted the *.bnk files but I haven't figured out how to convert them to a more useful format yet. This should be easier than the textures, which is my top priority right now.

For first, we already had an update for this month and it was LC Part 1, for second - there was never once an occasion where first party starts and soft releases are already given, and for third - soft releases always come five days before the main release. Because PopCap usually follows the rule "one updat
