      Me? Well...

Primal Potato Mine 2/5 - The lack of Team-Up defeats the purpose of protection. Now there are things such as Quickdraw Con Man and Planetary Gladiator that can survive and then some.

Grave Mistake 3/5 - It's actually still good. Some Gravestones are still relevant, such as Teleportation Zombie. You can also determine the zombie in the gravestone based on how many brains the hero used (and the hero's rank), and predict their actions the next turn.

Kernel-Pult 3/5 - With Arm Wrestler out of the meta, this can safely disable or kill zombies in the first few turns. It's one of the few solar cards that can actually control early game. Additionally, it can be used as just a Team-Up shield for an important plant, again one of the few things Solar doesn't have much of. Finally, it can be fodder for Evolution, especially since it has Team-Up, although Solar Winds may be better for this.

Also, I find that you praise Solar Winds way too much. It's a decent environment sure, but it really loses value in the late game. (plus the zombie hero can play an environment or Beam Me Up to counter it.)

PPM is okay at best. Its a viable sidegrade to regular PM. Its better early game, on turns 1-2, because you can control more Zombies like Headstone Carver and Gargologist than you could otherwise with regular PM. It sucks late game, because of the lack of team-up. Galacta-Cactus is still better than both.

GM either is good at cycling through your deck while keeping Gravestones at bay, or otherwise like Grave Buster is a dead card in your hand, eliminating those benefits. There are more Gravestones since I posted that review, but a lot of zombies heroes find it more safer to run less Gravestones, which weakens the card in the meta.

I feel like the thing with Kernal-Pult is that you have to have the Zombie played on Heights so you would have to be SF or Chomp so that they play around Scorched Earth. Then you can take advantage of KP with Fireweed or VM on turn 2. Its an alright card, just not as reliable for the other two heroes, Rose and Wall-Knight.

Solar Winds wasn't that good when Set 2 released because of Medulla Nebula costing 2 and it always overwriting it. Now, with it nerfed to 3 cost, there isn't any reason to not play a Zombie on turn 2, since otherwise you lost a lot of tempo. Even if its blocked by Summoning or BMU, that still doesn't change how much value it gives otherwise. I know that it has some counters, but those counters are few and far between.

You can't tell how many brains they used; just how many they could've used. Still kind of realistic to guess what they'll use by that and the Hero used. My only question is how the rank has anything to do with what they're gonna put down, or at least makes any kind of predictable pattern.

The zombie doesn't have to be played on heights (but if it is then it's a bonus). This is all my opinion, and since I use it in a Rose control deck, I personally find it very useful, not just for early game kills but also mid-to-late game fodder.

I feel its usefulness dwindles with Solar Flare and Chompzilla because their playstyle is more agressive rather than control, so there's that.

By the tricks phase, after you bounce a single gravestone, you can see the brain counter drop. It happens with all gravestones.

Rank doesn't give you guaranteed information, but when was the last time you saw an ultimate leaguer played a Smelly Zombie ever? You can mostly rule out the bad cards available to them as an option, since in order to get that high of a rank, you need to have better cards than Smelly Zombie.

      Finally

I had finally beaten the Taco Gate Guard. Knowing the massive power of my F2P Control Boogaloo deck, she concedes. (I have no idea what her deck is. It's probably a mushroom rush deck)

Speaking of which, I wish you could view recent ganes you have done and save the replay. You could pause it and it would have no pauses besides the pop-ups (Zombie Tricks, Fight, etc.). It won't show the players thinking and they play almost instantly. The game can be sped up and turns could be skipped.

He put a Tricarrotops on Spikeweed Sector and kept boosting it, then put Spikeweeds on every ground lane, so with all of Impo’s glass cannon zombies, I couldn’t deal with it and it one-shotted me.

Cards with stars mean they have special abilities (for example, Threepeater attacks in three lanes and Dark Matter Dragonfruit increases the cost of Zombie tricks by 6).

I think the fact that it is a 3/3 with Gravestone control and basically powercreeps Vanilla is good enough.

Speaking of balance, a way to nerf Briar Rose is by keeping everything the same except it only triggers when a zombie hurts another Flower

In the current meta, we need all the firepower we can get.

    • Definitely Beastly. Aside from a few shining examples such as Octo Zombie, or the Gargantuars, it's hard to do the boosting it's supposed to do. They often start very weak, leaving them vulnerable to getting walled by Mirror-Nut, picked off by Whack-a-Zombie, or blasted to death by Splash Damage, and if they do end up getting very far, they're left susceptible to Doom-Shroom. Again, there are some good cards but other than that there's not much you can really do with it.

The thing is, Guardian is too slow for this meta. It can't defend against Fossilhead and Con Man. Smarty is probably 3rd-Strongest plant class, with Guardian being 4th, and Mega-Grow dead last. Mega Grow has the worst matchup with Fossilhead and Con Man at all..

        Loading editor
    • Solar is definitely the strongest, because...well, we all know.

I'd say that Kabloom and Smarty are tied for second best, Kabloom for hard-hitting cards and neat tricks like Cherry Bomb and Kernel Corn, Smarty because recent updates have really done it justice with DMD, Lima-Pleurodon + Astro-Shroom/ANB + PotG, Tricorn, etc.(and those freaking Freeze decks.)

Guardian's lost a lot of steam. Really, it's not very useful now that stuff like Jurassic Fossilhead and Quickdraw Conman(both have high health, and Guardians typically don't have high strength, and you can't even Doom-Shroom/WNB/Shamrocket Fossilhead), but other than that it can function well in a Control/Healing deck.

Mega-Grow, on the other hand, has absolutely nothing going for it anymore. Its Bonus Attacks are completely nullified by Bonus Track Buckethead, and are quickly used against it by Gargantuar Mime, its reliance on Tricks is ruined by Defensive End, its card draw is royally jacked up by Con Man, it has weak plants(seriously, a lot of the Mega-Grows don't even have Strength over 3 by default) meaning that it's going to take multiple sacrificed plants to take him down(now, I know Smarty has the same excuse, but you can still bounce/freeze it so long as it's not protected by Z-Mech/Professor Brainstorm), its Pea decks are one-route and easy to counter, it has fairly sucky Legendaries(the only ones that don't suck are Captain Cucumber and Bananasaurus rex), and in general is outdone by literally everybody else. Ironic how Grass Knuckles somehow manages to put this to good use, meanwhile all the other Mega-Grow heroes are mid-low tier now.

    • Speaking of balance, I'm thinking about doing a blog about balance, but more specifically about Superpowers. However, there are some ideas I need feedback on:

Sunburn Option 1: Do 2 damage. You get +1 Sun from the 5th turn onwards

Sunburn Option 2: Do 2 damage. You get +1 Sun for the next 2 turns.

Whirlwind/Dolpinado Option 1: Bounce a zombie/plant with the highest health.

      Whirlwind/Dolpinado Option 2: Bounce a random zombie/plant. It costs 1 or 2 more to re-play.

There's also gonna be talk about being able to swap Superpowers, but at a cost. I know that's a touchy subject, but I at least want to talk about it.

Option 1: Non-native Superpowers cost 1 more. (1 Sun/Brain to use instantly, 2 when in your hand)

Option 2: Non-native Superpowers cost 1 more to use instantly (they cost 1 Sun/Brain whether drawn that turn or in your hand)

Option 3: Non-native Superpowers cannot be played instantly

Other superpowers changed include More Spore, Dance Off, Cut Down to Size, In-Crypted, maybe Evaporate, maaybe Mush-boom, maaybe Witch's Familiar, and eeehh...uhh...maaaybe Terror-Former 10,000 (slightly)

Does Corn Dog move in front of Team-Up plants or behind them?

      Something that is set 4-related:

What do you will happen if I play a Zombie Chicken/Fire Rooster/Space Pirate in Hunting Grounds and give it Hunt? Which do you think will take priority, the trait or the ability?

Powercreeps.... Vanilla? What? In general, powercreep only matters when comparing it to other viable options for its cost. Vanilla was never a viable option. If anything, you should be comparing it to Sportacus.

You are correct however in saying that Cool Bean is a powerful card that does not need a buff. When up against a Gravestone, Cool Bean gets a free hit in, and when played in another lane, he lets you check what you're up against much risk. Cool Bean was one of the cards that drove Neptuna Gravestone decks out of style. Gravestone decks used to be popular for countering Freeze decks, and Cool Bean ended that. His stats are average, but his ability is spectacular.

    • Alright, first things first. I instantly made up a HG mustache deck with 4x imposters, frosty 'staches, waxers and duckstaches. And this is so cool, man! My first fight was literally me playing a pool shark and duckstache on a medulla, then replacing medulla with ice moon, thus making my duckstache give 2 cards per attack (one for plant and one for hero behind), and BOTH CARDS WERE WARLORDS!!! Needless to say, I won that match. Now, my latest match had me gain 2 Headhunters with no other dancing stuff. I didn't know how to play around them until I placed a medulla, so then I literally made one headhunter get evolved by another (also that triggered headhunter's ability). Plant hero was left with 2 health and full block meter, then she put cards around in a way I was about to die, but PSYCHE! Portal technician on the left turned into a cosmic dancer, making headhunter finish off the hero! And yes, I am still using medulla. It's much weaker than before, but it's still viable. Nerfing Leprechaun Imp was unnecessary, though. Also rip epic HG turn 4 plank walker ramps, I will miss them.

Maybe a heavy nerf to PoG like costing 3 brains to severly reduce its cost-effectiveness with Dino-Roar. That might be almost as overkill as well, but if Brainy is considered by PopCap to be too strong this is not as bad as it seems.

It seems outclassed by Dinotronic Mechasaur, because the Dinotronic’s ability is much easier to activate, and it can create many good zombies. The problem with Areostatic Gondola is that it can be any zombie, I got a Backup Dancer from it once.

That’s EXACTLY what happened. On Turn 2(I was Nightcap), Immorticia played Cosmic Scientist, but didn’t do anything with the card. Somewhere along the line she Super Blocked and used Summoning, creating Zombie Middle Manager, which conjured another card. Didb’t do anything with that, either.

On Turn 9, I was doing a pretty good job of stalling her, and then SURPRISE! she pulls ZSS on me(THAT was the card Scientist conjured), and then played Fireworks Zombie(conjured by ZMM), killing everybody and shaving half my health off, and then on Turn 10 she Zombot 1000’d me.

Zombies played in Hunting Grounds are boosted there. And I haven't tested chicken yet. I was too busy with a Carrotina nut deck. (I used to think Carrotina wasn't competitive).

Of course yes; it’s damage from a Berry.

And to answer your last question, it probably does count the Dance Floor. Try playing an Evolution Plant on a LotV that’s on Heights.

    • I shall present to you a brief history of the broken characters in this game.

When this game first hit the store, Rustbolt had not yet achieved his status as a Sith Lord yet. The game was placid, people played without worry.

      Then...the Horsemen attacked.

Four characters— Wall-Knight, Solar Flare, Captain Combustible, and Professor Brainstorm— showed ruthless ambition in one goal: to be the most broken heroes of them all. They became so broken, even Popcap had to nerf them so that they wouldn’t be so domineering over the others.

      Thus struck Rustbolt.

He harnessed the power of the ancient deities to wreak havoc on the new meta, backstabbing the rest of the Zombie heroes and taking their place as king of the game.

Nothing his creators could do was able to stop his reign of terror. Every Super-Rare thrown at him was crushed ubder his heel. Every Legendary was shrunken and blasted to oblivion. The Plant Heroes that were designed to counter him so perfectly were driven out of commision.

After a grueling 4 months, Rustbolt finally retreated from the throne, to his lair of darkness, to upgrade himself and become GENERAL GRIEVO-er, the ultimate Zombie Hero. Now he has made a comeback with the Dinotronic Mechasaur at his side, ready to tear apart timelines and flood worlds in devastation(courtesy of his friend Neptuna).

My point being: Rustbolt just started being broken a few months ago, but right when he started being broken he just got worse and never looked back.

      Should've done the Weekly Event.

TBF, getting 2 Mime Gargantuars is a bit unfair. I just open Gargantuar packs for my Gargantuars (1 Supernova, 1 Mime, 2 Smashing (I only needed the 2), and 2 DSG from just 4 of the packs) and Rodeo Garg from the 7 day premium pack.

I don't know what other people though of that, but was it hard for anyone else?

I didn’t win any of these.

Oh yeah, giving only the plant side basically Intergalactic Warlord's effect for the entirety of the match was just so fun.

Rustbolt is the counter for plants in general.

      No.

However, if his attack is reducet to 1 AND his evolution gives +4 health instead of the +2/+2:  let this explain my vote.

      To argue about:

Snowdrop: abode-average stats and includes an ability which boost herself each time you screw your opponent, screwing it even more, is Basic-Common.

Now, this piece of garbage has splash to make himself average stats and has an ability which effect is minimal and the enemy can even use it as a pro, is Premiun-Rare.

I think the most clever option is to swap rarities with Snowdrop.

    • It’s only useful on Brain Freeze and Impfinity rush decks, otherwise it’s useless.

Snowdrop has a TON of possible combos( Han Solo getting added into the game didn’t help), and in general make it insanely hard to progress due to the sheer number of ways it can screw you over. The fact that it’s a Flower and works in Rose Control decks doesn’t help.
