The following below is a list of strategies for Arena in Plants vs. Zombies 2. Any strategy for Arena that you have in mind is welcome here. Feel free to add your own strategy that is not written here.

Note that if Plants on this page have level marks on them, you do not need that level, it is just recommended.

Note that any strategy that you can use in both international and Chinese version should be placed here. Others that involve plants and/or zombies from the Chinese version should be placed here instead.

A Strategy For When You're in a Pickle![]

Try to focus all your attacks on one lane if your defenses cannot hold up. That way, as your opponents (hopefully) suffer, you can at least scrape up some points.

General Strategies[]

Zombie Chicken Strategy[]

You can easily deal these threats, as long as you have a Lightning Reed on the board. Lightning Reeds will not do any damage if the Buffz & Bruisez feature says the Fila-mint family is ineffective. So use Spikeweed and/or Spikerocks instead.

Jester Zombie strategy[]

If there are Jester Zombies on the lawn, then don't bring in some shooting plants or lobbed-shot plants just so it can deflect them back to your defenses. In order to keep the Jesters from making you keep up with your opponent, you'll need to bring in some plants that will not throw any projectiles at all. The following plants are weaknesses of Jester Zombie:

  • Laser Bean2
  • Guacodile2
  • Squash2
  • Parsnip2
  • Phat Beet2
  • Iceberg Lettuce2(keeps it from deflecting back projectiles)
  • Dusk Lobber2(splash damage only)
  • Shadow-shroom2
  • Shrinking Violet2
  • Shadow Peashooter2(powered)
  • Grimrose2
  • Fume-shroom2
  • Caulipower2

For more, see Jester Zombie

  • You can use any of the following plants to defeat this zombie.

Note: Avoid using Bloomerang due to the fact that he can't defeat Jester Zombies and can't be destroyed by them.

Stunion2 is also an ideal way to take out these troublesome zombies, as they allow you to have powerful shooting plants while not having your defenses wiped out by a single Jester. However, if there is a large number of these zombies on multiple lanes, use the aforementioned strategy, as using stunions would require Plant Food.

Primal Potato Mine Strategy[]

Using Primal Potato Mine in Arena is a pretty good call, due to his fast arming time and damage. You can learn how to make a Primal Potato Mine Strategy here.

Required plants:Primal Potato Mine2Tile Turnip2Power Lily2

Instructions: Plant a Primal Potato Mine on the lawn, then place a Tile Turnip underneath. Keep doing so until you have at least three or more Primal Potato Mines on Power Tiles. Use Power Lily to feed Plant Food to the potatoes, making them multiply, dealing damage to lots of zombies. This strategy works better, if you have an upgraded Primal Potato Mine and/or an upgraded Bombard-mint, as it'll cause a bigger explosion dealing more damage per shot. Warning: Avoid using this strategy if the Buffz & Bruisez feature says it'll get an ineffective buff.

Blover Strategy[]

Now, you may know that Blover is restricted from most tournaments, but there are some tournaments where Blover can be used. For example, the first Gold Bloom Garden Party Tournament. Using Blover in Arena is really good since he will blow away all airborne zombies on the board. Blover can also blow away zombies when they are in mid-air. This, however requires critical timing. The following plants can make ground zombies be affected by Blover:

  • Chard Guard2
  • Primal Peashooter2
  • Reinforce-mint2
  • Holly Barrier2 (Berries)
  • Stallia2 (Level 5 or higher only)
  • Kiwibeast2 (Knocks back zombies when growing)
  • Imitater2 (Depends on one of the imitated plants above)

The best plant out of these is the Reinforce-mint. Planting him at the exact time Blover is on the board will wipe out all zombies on the lawn, giving the player heaps of points. Only you can use this strategy if Blover is not restricted in the following tournament. Dinosaurs can also affect zombies. For example, if a Raptor/Stegosaurus kicks/flings a zombie into mid-air while Blover is on the board, he will blow the zombie(s) away. Works better with an upgraded Blover. Keep in mind that when the Contain-mint family is bruised, Blover will not blow away all zombies, unless it reaches Mastery 100 or higher.

Specific Arena Tournaments[]

The following below is a list of strategies you can use in any of the Arena tournaments. Feel free to add a strategy to any of these tournaments below.

Electrici-tea’s Shocking tournament[]

Strategy 1

Made by CoolDude87

Required:

  • Fila-mint2
  • Lightning Reed2
  • Fire Peashooter2
  • Imitater2 (As Electrici-tea)
  • Moonflower2

As not everyone has access to the Imitater and Fila-mint, this strategy will be limited in use, but will grant many points for those who do use it.

Your layout should look like this:

MF MF LR

MF MF LR

MC MC MC MC MC MC (etc.)

MF MF LR

MF MF LR

MF=Moonflower, LR=Lightning Reed and MC=Mold colony

As the game develops, you should try to place more Lightning Reeds, and move the Fire Peashooters to the front lane in order to resist the Hunter Zombies, which have greatly increased speed, eating rate and snowball throwing rate in this tournament. Electrici-tea and Imitater Eletrici-tea should be used with caution, as its normal attack is weaker than a Phat Beet or Kiwibeast, which will be better suited for the job if you want to counter the Mold colonies. Be careful as on the middle row, highly armored enemies might appear, so whenever you see them place an Electrici-tea on the row, as the top square in unoccupied. Using Fila-mint in an Arena match is usually not recommended, but in this tournament Electrici-tea, its Imitater form and Lightning Reed will all get a buff. As a bonus, the mass amounts of zombies usually means that all the lightning shot by planting will bounce onto several more, causing a significant dent into the crowd.

Be advised that while Bombard-mint is powerful, its family is heavily nerfed in the tournament. It is not recommended to bring it inside the tournament.

Strategy 2

Also by Cooldude87

Required:

  • Fila-mint2
  • Lightning Reed2
  • Reinforce-mint2
  • Blover2
  • Moonflower2

This strategy is much more ‘accessible’ than the other, and generally scores more points, but be aware that the more durable zombies have a higher chance of reaching your house and Hunter Zombies will greatly nullify your defense.

Your layout should be like this:

MF MF LR

MF MF LR

MC MC MC (etc.)

MF MF LR

MF MF LR

Star.tour

MF:Moonflower2, MC:Mold Colony and LR: Lightning Reed2

Yes, this layout is the same as the other one, but this is what happens-as the game progresses, plant more Lightning Reeds. They will be your only defence. As you hit my recommended, four columns, start planting Electrici-teas in front of them. They will serve as your final line of defence when zombies start to reach you, and can serve as meatshields to counter Hunter Zombie. When you get extra Plant Food, use it to instantly recharge Reinforce-mint, AKA the Blover strategy. To maximize the efficiency, place Blover before Reinforce-mint. When Blover starts to spin his petals, plant Reinforce-mint as he will instantly knock and ‘airify’ the zombies. Remember, Fila-mint will prove a great role in this, as the many Imps will allow the lightning to chain. Also, Lightning Reeds will be greatly buffed, so it can be used as a final resort when zombies tear past your Electrici-teas.

Strategy 3: Plants:

  • Setup:
  • Lr lr lr mg
  • Lr lr mg
  • No plants in lane 3 except maybe Power lily
  • Lr lr mg
  • Lr lr lr mg

Expand your offense whenever possible. Sneak Caulipowers in your offense whenever possible. Plant food is no problem as long as you use it on fila-mint.

Explode-O-Nut's All-Out Tournament[]

Explode-o-Nut's All-Out Tournament

Explode-O-Nut's All-Out Tournament Advertisement

Strategy:

You'll need to require these plants in order for the strategy to work: Shadow Peashooter2, Moonflower2, Explode-O-Nut2 and Bombard-mint2 (Optional). Set it up like this:

MF SP MF SP MF SP EON EON

MF SP MF SP MF SP EON EON

MF SP MF SP MF SP EON EON

MF SP MF SP MF SP EON EON

MF SP MF SP MS SP EON EON

MF = Moonflower. SP = Shadow Peashooter. EON = Explode-O-Nut.

If you haven't obtained Bombard-mint, it is worth to upgrade your Explode-O-Nut2, due to his slow recharge in which is shown at level 1. If you're despite, you can add another row of Explode-o-nuts, for more protection.

Note: A Gargantuar or a Jurassic Rockpuncher can activate the Explode-O-Nus automatically.

This tournament can be pretty hard if you don't have a leveled up Solar Tomato and/or a leveled up Gold Bloom.

Since most of the sun producing plants are restricted in this tournament, leveling up these plants are required:Solar Tomato2 and Gold Bloom2.

Using plant food to recharge these plants are useful. However, if one does not use the Power Lily, there will only be three plant food given per match.

Aloe's Escalating Tournament[]

Aloe's Escalating Tournament

Aloe's Escalating Tournament Advertisement

This Arena match is somewhat easy. You can easily get more sun during the Last Stand setup from the pre-placed Tall-nuts. Place your plants behind the tombstones as the Necromancy Surprise attacks will spawn zombies from the tombstones. Use Grave Buster to destroy the graves quickly. Use Contain-mint to boost Grave Buster. If none of these plans work out, then let the spawned zombies get run over by the lawnmowers.

Holly Barrier's Escalating Tournament[]

HollyBarriersEscalatingTournament

Holly Barrier's Escalating Tournament Advertisement

This tournament can be extremely difficult since the raptor's will kick zombies past your defenses. However, in this tournament, the Blover strategy shines here. You can use Holly Barrier's berries to make the zombies affected by Blover, plus, you'll want to upgrade/Imitate Blover for more wind power. The following plants must be used:

  • Blover2
  • Holly Barrier2
  • Contain-mint2 (Optional)
  • Imitater2

Note that Perfume-shroom is excluded from Arena, although there are dinosaurs in this tournament.

Grapeshot's All-Out Tournament[]

Grapeshot All-Out Tournament

Grapeshot's All-Out Tournament Advertisement

This is one tournament where the player can possibly immediately lose to their opponent at the start of the battle because of the "Parachute Rain!" Luckily, there are some frozen Grapeshot's on the lawn which you can melt to wipe out most of the Lost Pilot Zombies and other zombies.

Remember, Hot Potato is excluded so use a Cherry Bomb instead. It is the fastest way to destroy them. Blover, however, won't come in handy since he'll just make all the zombies drop onto the lawn. Try to destroy them as quickly as possible before they eat any plants you've placed during Last Stand setup. Once that's taken care of, the battle truly begins!

Use:Cherry Bomb2

It'll be better if you have an upgraded Cherry Bomb with a fast recharge.

Strategy:

Moonflower2, Shadow Peashooter2 Reinforce-mint2 and Infi-nut2.

Arma-mint's Garden Party Tournament[]

Arma-mint's Garden Party Tournament

Arma-mint's Garden Party Tournament Advertisement

For this tournament, the player can see that the top and bottom lanes are covered in mold colonies. In order to destroy zombies on those lanes, you'll need to use the following plants:

  • Dandelion2
  • Rotobaga2
  • Starfruit2
  • Sweet Potato2 Hot Date2 (Attracts zombie into it's lane)
  • Threepeater2
  • Apple Mortar2
  • Homing Thistle2
  • Phat Beet2 Kiwibeast2 (3x3 area)
  • Bombard-mint2 (Members of this family)
  • Blover2 (If there are any airborne zombies in those lanes)
  • Banana Launcher2 Missile Toe2 Holly Barrier2
  • Imitater2 (Imitates plants from above)

Using these plants will do damage to the zombies in the lanes above or beneath them. Dusk Lobber, however, will need to be powered by a Moonflower in order to attack in three lanes. Place explosive plants up close to the zombies entering the lawn to destroy them quickly. Works better if they're leveled up and/or powered by a Bombard-mint. You can use Arma-mint2 to boost Apple Mortar's attacks.

Escape Root's Blitz Tournament[]

Escape Root's Blitz Tournament

Escape Root's Blitz Tournament Advertisement

Since the time in this tournament goes a lot faster, it is important to defeat as much zombies as you can before time runs out. There are 8 pre-placed Sun-shrooms on the lawn and 7 are frozen, so use an explosive plant to thaw it. Sun-producing plants are restricted, making the pre-placed Sun-Shrooms the only plants to give you sun throughout the battle. So it is worth leveling up your Sun-Shroom. If you DON'T have Sun-shroom, then you can use the following plants to gain more sun, when fed with Plant Food:

  • Sun-shroom2
  • Power Lily2
  • Tile Turnip2
  • Imitater2 (Depends on imitated plant)

Remember: You can use Escape Root to swap places with other plants if your Sun-shrooms are in danger.

The Primal Potato Mine Strategy shines here, as well as help from Squash and Cherry Bomb.

Snow Pea's All-Out Tournament[]

Snow Pea's All-Out Tournament

Snow Pea's All-Out Tournament Advertisement

There is a strategy that can either give you a low score or get you past 10 million depending on luck with King Zombies. Magnet-shrooms were allowed, meaning that if you keep a Peasant Zombie alive with a King Zombie near, Magnet-shroom can take the knight helms and rack up more points for the more knight helms that are collected. Sometimes, a King Zombie can take too long to show up, hurting this strategy. Required plants:Magnet-shroom2Power Lily2Snow Pea2(Slows down zombies)Imitater2

Contain-mint's Tournament[]

Contain-mint's Tournament

Contain-mint's Tournament Advertisement

As the first tournament to have the Buffz & Bruisez feature in it, Contain-mint's Tournament could be tough. First of all, the tournament contains three of the worst zombies in the game:

Poncho Zombie2 May come with a metal grate underneath poncho, Jester Zombie2 will fling back projectiles launched by projectile plants and Rodeo Legend Zombie2 will launch flying Imp near the house, causing him to drop fewer points when defeated.

Since there are evil potions on the lawn, Contain-mint family plants are required to slow them down. The following plants can be used against these troublesome zombies:

Magnet-shroom2 will get rid of metal grate, Stunion2 and Chili Bean2 will prevent zombies from moving, and Tall-nut2, Infi-nut2 and Moonflower2 will block the flying imp. Infi-nut and Moonflower will only do so if one uses Plant Food.

Time will go fast, so defeat as much zombies as you can to win.

Strategy 2[]

Plants: Moonflower2, Grimrose2, Primal Potato Mine2, Tile Turnip2 and Power Lily2.

Start putting a line of Moonflowers in the second row and two of Grimrose next to the Moonflowers and use the empty place for Primal Potato Mines. Put some Tile Turnips under the Primals Potato Mines.

Shadow Peashooter's Tournament[]

Shadow Peashooter's Tournament

Shadow Peashooter's Tournament Advertisement

There is a simple strategy for this tournament as long as you have obtained the following plants: Moonflower2 Dusk Lobber2 Nightshade2 Shadow Peashooter2 and Lightning Reed2

Plant the strategy like this:

NS/SP MF NS/SP/DS LR

DL MF LR NS/SP/DS MF

NS/SP MF NS/SP/DS LR

DL MF LR NS/SP/DS MF

NS/SP MF NS/SP/DS LR

*The rest of the lawn is free for you to plant wherever you want.

NS = Nightshade. LR = Lightning Reed. SP = Shadow Peashooter. DS = Dusk Lobber. MF = Moonflower:

It does not matter if the Fila-mint family is weak in this tournament as they'll keep doing the same damage to Zombie Chicken2. Fila-mint2 shines in this tournament as he'll take out most of the Zombie Chickens.

Parsnip's Tournament[]

Parsnip's Tournament

Parsnip's Tournament Advertisement

For Parsnip's Tournament, you can see that the whole lawn is covered in sun tombstones. There is no starting sun since the entire lawn is covered. Also, the Buffz & Bruisez feature will give the Spear-mint Plant Family a strong buff, whereas giving the Enforce-mint family a weak buff. So using plants, such as Grave Buster and Laser Bean are required.

Strategy:

Use Grave Buster2 Laser Bean2 Bombard-mint2 Gold Bloom2.

Once the battle begins, plant a Grave Buster on one of the five Tombstones closes to the house. next, plant a Gold Bloom where the Tombstone was. This'll give you some starting sun to plant some laser Beans. The Laser Bean will destroy the other eight Tombstones in front of it, giving 800 sun in total. Once the lawn is clear, you can start planting.

Another way you can do this is if you destroy a Tombstone further away from the house, then plant a Bombard-mint, which'll do damage to lots of Tombstones around it. Works better if you have an upgraded Bombard-mint as it'll make more explosions.

Avoid using Parsnip, since the family he's in has a weak buff in the tournament.

WARNING: NOT USING GRAVE BUSTER WILL HURT YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING THE MATCH AS YOU'LL BE DEFENSLESS WITHOUT HIM. KEEP THAT IN MIND.

Homing Thistle's Tournament[]

Homing Thistle's Tournament

Homing Thistle's Tournament Advertisement

As the first tournament to introduce the Zombie Hamsterball, it could make this tournament very difficult. Since the Slider tiles will make the zombies go in any direction, it's important to use plants that'll attack here and next door. Spear-mint can be a good plant to use as the Spikerocks that are spawned can break the hamster balls instantly, just breaking off a large spike. Use Spear-mint2, Spikerock2 and/or Imitater2 to destroy the Zombie Hamsterballs. Spikeweeds, however, will have no effect on the Zombie Hamsterball at all.

Starfruit's Tournament[]

Starfruit's Tournament

Starfruit's Tournament Advertisement

Members of Fila-mint's family will get an ineffective buff in the tournament. The Spear-mint family and the Appease-mint family, however, will get a strong buff. Like Homing Thistle's tournament, you should use Spikerocks and Spear-mint's in order to destroy the Zombie Hamsterball's. Dinosaurs are also present, so put any plant that'll attack from behind in the second tile closet to the house. Shadow Peashooter shines here as he will instantly drag the dinosaur carried zombies to the ground. Grimrose, however, won't come as the perfect option as it will take three zombies down to the ground to expire. Perfume-shroom is excluded so don't bother tying to bring it in.

Cactus' Tournament[]

Ghost Pepper's Tournament[]

Ghost Pepper's Tournament

Ghost Pepper's Tournament Advertisement

This Arena appears so many powerful zombies, like Excavator Zombie and Wizard Zombie. Take plants that can attack or kill the Excavator Zombie quickly because if you don’t kill him, he will destroy your defenses if you are careless.

Wizard Zombie can be a problem too because can transform plants into sheep and disables them, so kill them quickly too. Arcade Zombie is already present and if you don’t destroy his machine it will create lots of zombies and destroy your plants so use plants like Cherry Bomb.

Dinosaurs also are present like Ankylosaurus so be carefully. Fortunately, they don’t appear since 500,000 more or less. Avoid using Spear-Mint because Excavator Zombie and Arcade Zombie will kill Spikerocks. Avoid using Fila-Mint plants too because they are weak against zombies. Using fire plants are a good idea because they are stronger in this Arena.

Strategy 1.

Use these particular plants: Moonflower2 Shadow Peashooter2 Pepper-mint2 Ghost Pepper2. You should set up your strategy like this:

MF SP MF SP MF SP MF SP PM

MF SP MF SP MF SP MF SP GP

MF SP MF SP MF SP MF SP GP

MF SP MF SP MF SP MF SP GP

MF SP MF SP MF SP MF SP GP

MF = Moonflower. SP = Shadow Peashooter. GP = Ghost Pepper. PM = Pepper-mint.

Strategy 2.

Involves Reinforce-mint2, Infi-nut2, Spear-mint2, Moonflower2 and Shadow Peashooter2. You should set it up like this:

MF SP MF SP MF SP MF IN

MF SP MF SP MF SP MF RM

MF SP MF SP MF SP MF IN

MF SP MF SP MF SP MF SM

MF SP MF SP MF SP MF IN

MF = Moonflower. SP = Shadow Peashooter. IN = Infi-nut. RM = Reinforce-mint. SM = Spear-mint.

Reinforce-mint will boost the Infi-nut2's as well as allowing them to generate a force field to block all five lanes. In case the zombies break in, use Ghost Pepper2 wisely.

Jack O' Lantern's Tournament[]

Jack O' Lantern's Tournament

Jack O' Lantern's Tournament Advertisement

There are five Plant Food Tombstones on the Lawn, which are so strong that it'll take 30000 damage to destroy them. With the absence of Grave Buster in this Tournament, it makes the graves difficult to destroy. The best way to destroy swarms of zombies is to spam the Jack O' Lanterns, by putting ALL your fingers on each one. They'll soon burn the zombies, as well as doing repetitive damage to the Tombstones.

Strategy:

Plants needed: Jack O' Lantern2 Moonflower2 Shadow Peashooter2 Fire Peashooter2. Set up the strategy like so:

FP MF SP JOL JOL JOL JOL

FP MF SP JOL JOL JOL JOL

FP MF SP JOL JOL JOL JOL

FP MF SP JOL JOL JOL JOL

FP MF SP JOL JOL JOL JOL

JOL = Jack O' Lantern. MF = Moonflower. SP = Shadow Peashooter FP = Fire Peashooter

Hot Date's Tournament[]

Hot Date's Tournament Advertisement

Strategy 1:

Made by I’mYourFatherxD

Plants: Lava Guava2/Squash2, Split Pea2, Homing Thistle2, Spear-mint2 and Celery Stalker2.

Last Stand: in the middle row put Celery Stalker2 in the 3, 4 and 5 square and the rest of the line (from the 3 Celery Stalker2 since the slider tile) put Split Pea2. At the beginning, spend all Plant foods for instant recharging Spear-mint2 and the rest of tiles put Homing Thistle2 but in the middle row in the second or first tile put the Lava Guava2/Squash2 all the time and sometimes Hot Date2.

Fire Peashooter's Tournament[]

FirePeaAllOutMainPage

Fire Peashooter's Tournament Advertisement

This strategy was created by: I'mYourFatherxD

This is a free strategy with the exception of one plant. The plants are: Shadow Peashooter2, Moonflower2, Primal Potato Mine2, Tile Turnip2 and Pepper-mint2. You should put the plants like this:

FP FP SP MF SP MF PPM PPM PPM

FP FP SP MF SP MF PPM PPM PPM

FP FP SP MF SP MF PPM PPM PPM

FP FP SP MF SP MF PPM PPM PPM

FP FP SP MF SP MF PPM PPM PPM

FP = Fire Peashooter. SP = Shadow Peashooter. MF = Moonflower. PPM = Primal Potato Mine.

When the Imp Dragon Zombie blocks are melted, place the Fire Peashooters when they are defeated. When a Primal Potato Mine explodes, try to put another there. Put two or three Tile Turnips and then place Shadow Peashooters on the Power Tiles.. Use Pepper-mint as soon as possible, but be careful and don’t use it when the Jester Zombies are free.

Sling Pea's Tournament[]

Sling Pea's Tournament

Sling Pea's Tournament Advertisement

Plants: Moonflower2, Dusk Lobber2, Laser Bean2/Shadow Peashooter2, Snapdragon2 and Pepper-mint2.

This strategy was created by: I'mYourFatherxD.

You should put the plants like this:

LB/SHP DL MF SP

LB/SHP MF DL SP SNP

LB/SHP DL MF SP

LB/SHP MF DL SP SNP

LB/SHP DL MF SP

LB = Laser Bean. SHP = Shadow Peashooter. DL = Dusk Lobber. MF = Moonflower. SP = Sling Pea. SNP = Snapdragon.

First, in the Last Stand moment, place the Moonflowers. Then, put four Dusk Lobbers, and finally, put the Shadow Peashooters or the Laser Beans. In the case you use Laser Beans put them in the first four lines and when you get enough suns, put the final Laser Bean. Next, put the Dusk Lobber of the middle and start putting the Snapdragons and then the Sling Peas. When the Buckethead Zombies appear, start putting Pepper-mints and use the Plant Food to use Pepper-mint again.

Strategy 2

In the case where you don’t have the Shadow Peashooter or Pepper Mint, use this strategy. However, this strategy gets you less points, so its best to use the first strategy if you have the plants. You may need Gold Bloom. This averages at around 275k to 315k.

Plants: Laser Bean2, Gold Bloom2(Sunflower2 if you lack it), Primal Wall-nut2 (Not necessary but helps as support), Puff-shroom2 (Support, also not necessary)

Your layout should look like this (Replace 1st row of PS with Sunflower2 if you lack Gold Bloom2):

LB LB PS PS PWN

LB LB PS PS PWN

LB LB PS PS PWN

LB LB PS PS PWN

LB LB PS PS PWN

LB = Laser Bean, PS = Puff Shroom, PWN = Primal Wall-Nut, GB = Gold Bloom, SF = Sunflower

When you’re asked to plan the defense, place 5 LBs on the first column, 3 LBs on the 2nd column (It doesn’t matter where you put the LBs here, as you’ll eventually fill the 2nd column.), and a PWN on the 5th column. After pressing “Let’s Rock!”, immediately place GB to get some sun, then try your best to copy the layout above. Use your plant food on the LBs in lanes where there’s only Zombies or Conehead Zombies. Make sure you don’t let any Bucketheads make it to your LB lines, otherwise this strategy will not work out.

If you lack GB, in the defense planning portion, do the exact thing as above, but do not place the PWN on the 5th column, and instead place a SF on the 3rd column. Now follow the strategy above this one, but instead of using GB, place as many SF as you can in the 3rd column. The PWNs aren’t really that important, so make sure you get the LBs out first and then place the PWNs.

THIS STRATEGY IS HEAVILY RELIANT ON THE TIMING AND PLACEMENT OF THE PLANT FOOD. KEEP THAT IN MIND.

Power Lily's Tournament (Buffz & Bruisez)[]

PowerLilysTournament

Power Lily's Tournament Advertisement

Unlike the first Tournament, Winter-mint's Family will be given a buff as well as there being Zombie Hamsterballs and different zombies than the Tournament before. Power Lily is the key to having more Plant Food.

Strategy 1:

This is a good strategy that can be used, in which it requires: Power Lily2, Bombard-mint2 and Spear-mint2.

Using Power Lily will help you generate more plant food in which you can use to instantly recharge your Power mints. Using Bombard-mint repeatedly will set off more explosions while using Spear-mint repeatedly will generate more Spikerock2's on the board.

Strategy 2:

Plants needed: Moonflower2, Shadow Peashooter2, Infi-nut2, Spear-mint2 and Reinforce-mint2. Plant it out like this:

MF SP MF SP MF SP IF

MF SP MF SP MF SP

MF SP MF SP MF SP IF

MF SP MF SP MF SP

MF SP MF SP MF SP IF

MF = Moonflower. SP = Shadow Peashooter. IF = Infi-nut.

Immediately plant Spear-mint for Spikerocks. Two Spear-mints might be needed as the first five spawned spikerocks will temporarily get crushed by the Zombie King's. The player can do that quickly by instantly recharging Spear-mint.

Optional Plants:

You can bring in some of the following plants for more support if you want: Shrinking Violet2 is considered useful against the Hair Metal Gargantuar2. Laser Bean2's and powered Shadow Peashooter2's will take out swarms of zombies. Plants such as Iceberg Lettuce2 and Winter-mint2 will extinguish Torchlight Zombie2's torch. The Primal Potato Mine Strategy (Reminder: Use Primal Potato Mine2 Tile Turnip2 Power Lily2) shines here as lots of Plant Food will be obtained in the Tournament if one does uses the Power Lily.

Witch Hazel's Tournament[]

WitchHazelsTournament

Witch Hazel's Tournament Advertisement

Spear-mint2 is not the best option as the family will be weak. Spikerock2's will still damage the Zombie Hamsterball's, but will involve the Spikerock being removed temporarily from the lawn as well as the hamsterball not fully destroyed.

Use Reinforce-mint2, Infi-nut2, Moonflower2 and Shadow Peashooter2. You should set it up like this:

MF SP MF SP MF SP MF IN ?

MF SP MF SP MF SP MF RM ?

MF SP MF SP MF SP MF IN ?

MF SP MF SP MF SP MF ? ?

MF SP MF SP MF SP MF IN ?

MF = Moonflower. SP = Shadow Peashooter. IN = Infi-nut. RM = Reinforce-mint. ? = choice.

In the Last Stand put in the second and fourth row the Moonflower and in the third row put two Shadow Peashooters in the second and fourth square and press Let's Rock. When you got enough suns, start putting Shadow Peashooters in the third row and in the first row. In the fifth row, put a line of Dusk Lobbers. In the next row, put two Moonflowers and the put more Dusk Lobbers/Shadow Peashooters. When the Gargantuar appears, put the Enchant-mint next to him and when another appears, spend a Plant Food for Instant Recharge.

Finally it has to look like this:

SP MF SP MF DL DL/SP DL/SP ? ?

SP MF SP MF DL MF DL/SP ? ?

SP MF SP MF DL DL/SP DL/SP ? ?

SP MF SP MF DL MF DL/SP ? ?

SP MF SP MF DL DL/SP DL/SP ? ?

SP= Shadow Peashooter. MF= Moonflower. DL= Dusk Lobber. ?= Whatever you want like: Goo Peashooters, Shrinking Violet and Enchant-mint

Strategy 2:

Use: Sunflower2, Repeater2, Chili Bean2 Iceberg Lettuce2 Wall-nut2, and you should have Goo Peashooter2's (all plants can be any level).

Put Sunflowers in the first column and Goo Peashooters in the second column and you will not have enough sun for the fifth Goo Peashooter so when the zombies come you have to fill that space then use Goo Peashooters, Repeater, Chili Bean, Iceberg Lettuce, and Wall Nut to kill more zombies but it is recommended to use Goo Peashooters up to column five.

It will look like this:

S GP (GP) (GP) (GP)

S GP (GP) (GP) (GP)

S GP (GP) (GP) (GP)

S GP (GP) (GP) (GP)

S GP (GP) (GP) (GP)

S = Sunflower, GP = Goo Peashooter, () = recommended

Strategy 3

This strategy was created by Han0303.

Very reliable strategy, only reasonably levelled-up plants needed:

  • Moonflower (Level doesn't matter)
  • Shadow Peashooter (Lv3 and above)
  • Hurrikale (Level doesn't matter)
  • Puff-shroom (Level 3 or above; ail-mint up makes it very strong and effective in 2 columns)
  • Arma-mint or whatever mint you prefer (Any level)

Setup:

Column of Moonflowers in 2nd column, one Shadow Peashooter first column any lane. 3 Goo Peashooters column 4 any lanes except the lane with SP.

You want to eventually get a setup like this: Shadow Peashooter2 Moonflower2 Shadow Peashooter2 Goo Peashooter2 Goo Peashooter2 Puff-shroom2 Puff-shroom2 for every lane.

Strategy 4

This strategy was created by: I'mYourFatherxD.

The same plants as the first strategy but instead of Enchant-mint put Fume-shroom2. The order is the same but in the three lines of the right put Fume-shroom because is buffed.

Missile Toe's Tournament[]

MissileToe'sTournamentAd

Missile Toe's Tournament Advertisement

This is a very hard Tournament. The Buffz & Bruisez sate that Winter-mint2's family and Reinforce-mint2's families will get a strong buff with the exception of the Enchant-mint2 family (Ineffective).

The pre-placed Sunflower2's on the board are the only sun production plants available as they are banned from the Tournament (except, for example, Sun Bean2).

All Ice plants are banned from the Tournament (except for the Mistletoe, which you are given it)

Strategy 1

It’s recommended to bring Intensive Carrot2 if a plant was killed. It’s recommended to bring Primal Wall-nut2 because he can receive three or more impacts from the All-Star Zombie2. Blover2 is recommended too because there is “Raiding Party" surprise attack. If you have Reinforce-mint, you can combine it with Blover. You can use Spear-mint2 because there are Pianist Zombies too. Poncho Zombie2 is also present too, but with the pre-placed and frozen Cold Snapdragon are enough to defeat them, and you can use Missile Toe2 if you are in trouble.

Strategy 2

This strategy was created by Han0303.

My strategy scores well over 500k, but never over 1mil: Pea-nut2 Lv5 Primal Wall-nut2 Lv5 Blover2 Lv3 Reinforce-mint2 Lv1 Winter-mint2 Lv1 Setup plan:

Let the swashbucklers be killed by the Lava Guava2's.

Use 1 plant food on sunflower, as you need the sun now to plant blovers and kill swashbucklers.

Plant pea-nuts in the lanes with frozen Sunflower2's.

Primal wall-nuts in front of cold snapdragon.

Fill the other spaces with Pea-nuts. Gameplay:

I noticed that thawing plants are unnecessary. There are no winds and the plants at the start can easily be thawed by the lava guavas.

Use your other plant foods at times you think is good. Use it on your reinforce-mint.

Use blover every raiding party when the third swashbuckler comes forth. This will kill all of them. If you miss it and some slip in, use your missile-toes to kill them. Use missile-toes whenever they're ready. Try and aim for all-stars and pianists.

Some more tips: Let Reinforce-mint naturally recharge once, then use plant food on it to instant recharge, BUT AFTER USING YOUR SECOND ONE ON WINTER-MINT.

Use your SECOND plant food on Winter-mint (first is used on Sunflower) and make sure at least 2 Missile-toes are armed. They will deal incredible damage.

The frozen plants on the lawn are all max-levelled. You can tell from the Winter Melon projectiles - they look ice-covered (sign of golden plant); the Sunflowers - they give 75 sun (max level); and the Snapdragons - they are very effective and deal high damage.

Snow Pea's Tournament (Buffz & Bruisez)[]

Snow Pea's Tournament (Updated)

Snow Pea's Tournamnet

This tournament is EXTREMELY HARD, since nearly ALL Plants are restricted. The only plants that are not banned are the ones obtained in The Player's House, Ancient Egypt, Pirate Seas and Wild West as well as Power mints, few premium plants and some seasonal ones. Coincidentally, all banned plants were introduced after the Far Future update, with the exception of Seasonal Plants, the Power mints, and plants unlocked with Seed Packets (Not including Shadow Peashooter).

Strategy 1

Created by I'mYourFatherxD

Plants: Spear-mint2, Sunflower2, Winter Melon2,Sling Pea2 and Arma-mint2.

In the Last Stand moment, put three lines of Sunflowers on the third, four and fifth rows and Let's Rock. Plant Spear-mint when the first zombie appears. Put in the first two lines Sling Peas, but the three spaces in the first row the three spaces of the middle put Winter Melons. Use the other lines putting Sling Peas and when Gargantuars appears, put Arma-mint and spend the Plants Foods auto-recharging Arma-mints.

Strategy 2

Strategy by Han0303

  • I can only seem to get a score of around 220k, which sucks. Let's see how the bots do. Hopefully not over that.
  • Everything's banned. LolZ
  • So, here's my strategy:

Sling Pea2 Twin Sunflower2 Arma-mint2 Spear-mint2 Winter-mint2

  • 4 Twin Sunflwoers during setup, 3rd or 4th column.
  • As many Sling Peas as you can get. (Mine are Lv4, making them very effective)
  • During the game, get 2 full columns of Sling Peas and 1 of Snow Peas at the back.
  • Use plant food on Twins and Mints, preferably Arma.
  • Replace any Sling Peas that die from imps.
  • Try it if you have the time and tell me your results.

Cold Snapdragon's Tournament[]

Cold Snapdragon's Tournament (Updated)

Strategy by Catmaster707

Needed plants: Cold Snapdragon, Sunflower, Gold bloom

This strategy might fail but it still gives lots of points, to decrease the chance of losing buy cold snapdragon and level it up, I used level 5

Step 1: Plant Cold Snapdragons on the third closest column to the zombies and when the Gargantuar

Step 2: Use Gold bloom and collect all sun then then plant a second column of Cold Snapdragons behind the first

Step 3: Plant Sunflowers on the column closest to the house and replant dead Cold Snapdragons or plant more Cold Snapdragons behind the two columns

This is what the lawn should look like:

S ? ? ? ? ? CS CS ?

S ? ? ? ? ? CS CS ?

S ? ? ? ? ? CS CS ?

S ? ? ? ? ? CS CS ?

S ? ? ? ? ? CS CS ?

S = Sunflower, ? = whatever want, CS = Cold Snapdragon

Electric Peashooter's Tournament[]

Electric Peashooter's Tournament (Updated)

Strategy by I'mYourFatherxD

Plants: Moonflower2, Shadow Peashooter2, Shrinking Violet2, Winter Melon2 and a Power-mint which can attack, like Bomba-mint or Arma-mint.

In the Last Stand put a line of Moonflowers in the second and fourth row and a line of Shadow Peashooters in the third row and Let’s Rock. Start putting Shadow Peashooters and Winter Melons (in the last row) and the empty rows put Electrics Peashooters. When the Cardio Zombie appears, put the Power-mint and when it’s again recharged use it and recharge it instantly again with a Power Food and when is recharged again use the others Powers Foods to recharge the Power-mint.

Starfruit's Tournament[]

In this tournament, don't be fooled when you see the seed selection screen because you'll see there are only basic zombies. But in the battle it is shown that it was another one of Pop Cap's dirty tricks!

Strategy by I’mYourFatherxD

Plants: Moonflower2, Shadow Peashooter2, Bombard-mint2, Shrinking Violet2 and Primal Potato Mine2

At the beginning, start with two lines of Moonflowers in the second and fourth row and a line of Shadow Peashooters in the third row (like in the strategy of the last Tournament) and Let’s Rock. Put all Shadow Peashooters in the first and fifth row and the empty rows put Starfruits. When Gargantuars or Hamster's Ball appears put Bombard-mint and Shrinking Violet. When the Bombard-mint is recharged again, instant recharge it with the Power Foods. When you’re in trouble, put Primal Potato Mines to make a clear.

Electric Blueberry's Tournament[]

Electric Blueberry's Tournament (Updated)

Electric Blueberry's Tournament Advertisement

Strategy made by I’mYourFatherxD

Plants: Moonflower2, Threepeater2, Bowling Bulb2, Shrinking Violet2 and Primal Wall-nut2.

In the Last Stand spend all the sun given putting Moonflowers in the fourth line to the seventh line, but in the seventh line let the middle square empty and Let’s Rock. In the middle row, delete a Moonflower for the Electric Blueberries. In the first line in the second to fourth row put Threepeaters and in the first and fifth row put Bowling Bulbs and in the next row put Threepeaters in the first and fifth row and next them put another Bowling Bulbs but in the middle row put two Bowling Bulbs instead of a Threepeater and a Bowling Bulb. Put the Primal Wall-nuts in the seventh line but in the middle row put it in the sixth line.

Ail-mint's Tournament[]

AilmintsTournament

Ail-mint's Tournament Advertisement

Strategy made by AlexHoskins

Plants: Caulipower2 (level 6), Imitater2 (Caulipower), Primal Wall-nut2, Moonflower2, Primal Potato Mine2

At the beginning, plant at least 7 Caulipower2's, 5 Moonflower2's and 1 Primal Potato Mine2 at near the end of the lawn. As the battle starts, one of the three Gargantuars will cause the Primal Potato Mine2 to explode, taking out several gravestones, before the Caulipower2s hypnotize all three. Likewise, you could use Plant Food on one of your Moonflower2s to gain more sun. When the Hair Metal Gargantuar2 approaches, quickly plant an Primal Wall-nut2 on the lane where that type of Gargantuar at to block out its shockwaves, protecting other plants. When the Caulipower2s are recharging, use Plant Food to instantly recharge it faster, before planting several more. There are Plant Food tombstones in this battle, so the hypnotized Gargantuars will destroy them for you, so you could use it to plant more Caulipower2s and Primal Wall-nut2s. You can use the Coconut Cannon2 to take out more gravestones in order to make room for more plants. However, beware of the attacks from both Gargantuar Prime2 and Octo Zombie2s, as the former can shoot lasers at your defenses, destroying several of your non-defensive plants and the latter can bind your nearby plants with octopi. You can still get rid of octopi with your Coconut Cannon2, though.

Snap pea's Tournament[]

Strategy 1:

Made by I’mYourFatherxD

Plants: Bowling Bulb2, Laser Bean2, Primal Potato Mine2 a Power mint which make a big damage, like Bombard-mint2 and if you have it, Spear-mint2.

Last Stand: one line of Bowling Bulb2 and Laser Bean2 in the last 2 rows and another line of Primal Potato Mine2 in the 2º row and Let’s Rock. Put more Laser Beans and spend the Power Foods auto recharging the Power mint (no Spear-mint).

Strategy 2:

Made by I’mYourFatherxD

Plants: Bowling Bulb2, Primal Peashooter2, Blover2, Primal Potato Mine2 and a Power mint wich can atack like Pepper-mint2.

It’s the same as the above strategy but instead Laser Bean2 put Primal Peashooter2 and put all the time Blover.

Enforce-mint's Tournament[]

In this tournament, don't be fooled when you see the seed selection screen because you'll see there are only basic zombies. But in the battle it is shown that it was another one of Pop Cap's dirty tricks as in the Starfruit's Tournament!

Strategy 1:

Made by I’mYourFatherxD

Plants: Moonflower2, Primal Potato Mine2, Dusk Lobber2/Shadow Peashooter2, an instant-plant (such as Cherry Bomb2) and Bombard-mint2 (recommended but if you don’t have it another Power-mint such as Pepper-mint).

Last Stand: put Moonflower2 in the second row in the first, third and fifth square and make a square around the middle Moonflower with Dusk Lobbers, but if you have Shadow Peashooter, put a line of them in the first line and the rest of the suns spend them in Primal Potato Mines and Let’s Rock. Put more Shadow Peashooters/Dusk Lobbed (be careful if you use Dusk Lobber) and more Primal Potato Mines and spend all the Power Foods instant recharging the Bombard-mint.

Dandelion's Tournament[]

With the amount of flying zombies in this Tournament, use Blover2 when there's a huge amount of them on the screen to earn massive points. Take shadow plants such as Moonflower2 and Shadow Peashooter2. Conceal-mint2 is also an option to give the plants in its family a boost.
