Shadow Vanilla (暗影荚兰: ànyǐng jiálán) is a shadow plant in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2 first introduced in the 2.5.4 update. It was the winner of the Player Plant Creation Contest.

Shadow Vanilla attacks by lobbing a shadow projectile at zombies. When powered by Moonflower, Shadow Vanilla's petals light up each time it attacks, and when all five of its petals light up, Shadow Vanilla releases a shadow mist cloud that slows down all zombies in its lane and allows zombies to take extra damage from plant attacks.

Origins

Shadow Vanilla is based on Wind-Blowing Vanilla, who in turn is based on the flat-leaved vanilla (Vanilla planifolia).

Its body is based on Shadow Peashooter, while its powered petals are based on Nightshade.

Plant Food effect

When powered it will shoot 3 tornadoes down the lanes that gives the debuff to all zombies that are hit. When not powered it only shooting one tornado that creates eight others on contact.

Costumed

When powered it will shoot another tornado after the main three that splits in a "+" pattern if it hits a zombie. When not powered at the end of the nine tornadoes, a small explosion will spawn in the middle.

	Shadow Mastery 暗影掌握	Normal Mist of Shadow Viburnum increases Vulnerability of Mist Vortex to 40% and refreshes the duration. If the shadow mist hits the same zombie repeatedly, a small whirlwind will be generated for 4 seconds, causing 1800 points of damage to the zombie per second. The probability of leaving a shadow vortex is increased to 30%, the duration is increased to 9 seconds, and the vulnerability is changed to 55%. 暗影荚兰的普通雾气会提高暗影雾气的易伤效果至40%，并刷新持续时间。若暗影雾气重复命中同一个僵尸，则会生成持续4秒的小型旋风，对僵尸每秒造成1800点伤害。留下暗影旋涡的概率提升至30%，持续时间提升至9秒，易伤变为55%。

Trivia

• Shadow Vanilla is the first (and currently only) shadow plant to be exclusive to the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2.
• Shadow Vanilla was the third plant in the series to be designed by a fan, with the first being Plasma Pea, and the second being Rotten Red.
• It’s impossible for Jester Zombie, Hammer Zombie, Nunchaku Zombie, or Excavator Zombie to avoid being damaged by any of its projectiles.
