Shadow Vanilla (暗影荚兰: ànyǐng jiálán) is a shadow plant in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2 first introduced in the 2.5.4 update. It was the winner of the Player Plant Creation Contest.

Shadow Vanilla attacks by lobbing a shadow projectile at zombies. When powered by Moonflower, Shadow Vanilla's petals light up each time it attacks, and when all five of its petals light up, Shadow Vanilla releases a shadow mist cloud that slows down all zombies in its lane and allows zombies to take extra damage from plant attacks.

Shadow Vanilla is based on Fanilla, who in turn is based on the flat-leaved vanilla (Vanilla planifolia).

Its body is based on Shadow Peashooter, while it's powered petals are based on Nightshade.

    In English:

Shadow Vanilla can put zombies in a "vulnerable" state by charging its leaves while in its shadow form.

    Plant feature: yellow plant

"Freak!" "Monster!" "Desperate hodgepodge!" Shadow Vanilla is always full of these voices of self doubt, but never pays them any mind, because it knows the value of its existence in the world, and doesn't need to prove anything, "Every plant has its own purpose" Shadow Vanilla says under its breath.
