Not to be confused with Twopeater.

Repeater is a recurring character within the Plants vs. Zombies franchise. Repeater is effectively two Peashooters in one, costing the same amount as two Peashooters and firing two peas at a time rather than just one.

As of Plants vs. Zombies 3, Repeater has appeared in seven games.

Origins

220px-Doperwt rijserwt peulen Pisum sativum

Like most other pea-shooting plants, the Repeater is based on the the pea plant (Pisum sativum).

Repeater's name is related to the term repeating rifle, a rifle that incorporates the reloading and re-cocking actions into a single lever. His name also refers to the fact that he shoots two peas at once, repeating himself. Plus, his name has the word "pea" in it, referring to how he's a peashooting plant.

Repeater repeating his own speech in Plants vs. Zombies 2's Almanac entry is a play on his name and ability of "repeating" his attack.

Reverse Repeater1

In the original Plants vs. Zombies game, as well as all Chinese spin-off games based on it, Repeater is the last Day plant introduced. He is a peashooting plant like Peashooter, costing twice as much as them and firing twice as many peas at a time, making him two Peashooters in one.

In the Beghouled mini-games, they are the upgrade to Peashooter and cost 1000 sun and in the Vasebreaker puzzles, there is a left facing Reverse Repeater which is effectively Split Pea's back head without the ability to fire ahead of him.

He has an upgrade, Gatling Pea, who costs $5000 to obtain from Crazy Dave's Twiddydinkies and 250 Sun to plant. Gatling Pea is effectively four Peashooters in one rather than just two, firing four peas at a time.

Repeater made a reappearance in PopCap's ill-fated Facebook game Plants vs. Zombies Adventures, surprisingly not as Peashooter's VIP counterpart. However, he is still comparable to one, being a straight upgrade to Peashooter, costing the same amount of sun as them and still firing two peas, which deal 40 damage each in this game, making him deal 80 damage per attack.

In Plants vs. Zombies 2, Repeater reprises his role as two Peashooters in one, being unlocked after beating Ancient Egypt - Day 19. Repeater faces competition from Fire Peashooter, who deals the same damage while being 25 Sun cheaper.

He is a member of the Appease-mint family, who lets his peas deal an additional 120 DPS while they're out and his Plant Food ability lets him fire a burst of 90 peas before firing one large pea, dealing 600 damage to the zombie hit by it.

Repeater next appears in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare as the Potted Plant Pea Repeater. Like the mainline games, they are basically two Pea Cannons in one, firing two peas at once. While he is called Pea Repeater when obtained in the Sticker Shop, both the Stickerbook and his when vanquished screen call him Repeater.

Pea Repeater does not return in the other shooter games, likely due to how overly simple they are.

Repeater appeared in the Chinese-exclusive turn-based game Plants vs. Zombies: All Stars, here he was the second plant in the Pea line, evolving from Peashooter and evolved into Gatling Pea. He attacked zombies by firing two peas at them.

His active ability was Pea Barrage, which dealt 480 extra damage to the closest enemy in their lane while his passive ability was Fire Fighter, which let him deal 50% more damage if a plant from the Stump line was present on the lawn.

His soulmates were members of the Nut line for a damage boost, the Bomb line for a critical chance increase, and the Charm and Pepper lines together for a damage boost.

Repeater and the Pea line as a whole also serve as the flagship plant line for Brave type plants, and were one of the first plant lines the player unlocked in the game.

Repeater also appears in the turn-based mobile card game Plants vs. Zombies Heroes, here as a Basic Common plant in the PvZH Mega-Grow IconMega-Grow class. They cost 3SunPvZH, having 2StrengthPvZH/2HeartPvZH stats, are in the Pea tribe and have the DoubleStrikeAltDouble Strike trait. Being a Basic card, Repeater is quite simple and their Double Strike is their most defining feature.

Repeater's most recent appearance is in Plants vs. Zombies 3, where he makes a cameo as Peashooter's Tacobility. Like the other games in the main series, he lets a "Peashooter" fire twice as many peas compared to a normal Peashooter, but Peashooter's Tacobility can be upgraded, letting Repeater fire even more peas.

Trivia

Peashooter20000
  • He looks almost identical to Peashooter, with the differences being the multiple leaves on the back of his head and eyebrows that give off an angry or annoyed appearance.
    • They were intended to look even more similar, as Peashooter's original design had Repeater's set of leaves.
  • Even though the Peashooter from Garden Warfare 2 is supposed to be a reincarnation of the Peashooter from the phone games, he more resembles the Repeater.
