Upcoming plants

Chili Bean

Chili Bean is a plant that was in the 2021 and 2022 soft-launch of PvZ3, but for some reason it is not yet available in the current version of PvZ3, although there are mentions of him in the game codes of the current version. Costing 2 sun, when the zombie kills him, the zombie dies and those behind him are stunned for a while.

  • Description: Wipes out the first zombie to take a bite, stunning any zombies behind. Flatulent!

Silversword

Silversword is a plant that was in the 2022 soft-launch of PvZ3, but for some reason it is not yet available in the current version of PvZ 3, although there are mentions of it in the game codes of the current version. Costing 4 sun, it attacks zombies in a 3X3 area.

  • Description: Covers a 3x3 area with a spinning attack. Revolutionary!

Chomper

Chomper is a plant that was in the soft-launch of PvZ3 in 2020, its seed pack, sprites and 3D model was found in the game files. She also appeared in the April 2022 preview video, where we see that she cost 4 sun. Currently, she only appears in a promotion for boosts. She devours any approaching zombie, but remains vulnerable until she swallow it.

  • Description: Swallows zombies whole, then chews them. Ravenous!

Starfruit

Starfruit is a plant that was in the soft-launch of PvZ3 in 2020, its seed packet was found in the game files. He fires stars in five different directions: north, south, north-east, south-east, and west.

  • Description: Shoots stars in five directions, including backwards. Star-studded!

Kernel-Pult

Kernel-Pult is a plant that was in the soft-launch of PvZ3 in 2020, its seed packet was found in the game files. He throws corn at the zombies, with a chance to throw a butter that stuns the zombie for a while, being able to hit flying zombies.

  • Description: Lobs corn kernels, with a chance to lob butter that stuns zombies. Corny!

Melon-Pult

Melon-Pult is a plant that was in the soft-launch of PvZ3 in 2020, its seed packet was found in the game files. He throws watermelon at zombies, dealing massive damage and causing minor damage in a 3X3 area, being able to hit flying zombies.

  • Description: Lobs melons that explode for heavy damage in a 3x3 area. Can hit flying zombies. Pulpy!

Pine Needler

Pine Needler is a plant that was in the soft-launch of PvZ3 in 2020, her concept art was found in the game files. She fires pine needles that pierce multiple zombies.

  • Description: Flings pine needles that pierce through multiple zombies. Pine-scented!

Cobra Lily

Cobra Lily is a new plant, its concept art and animations was found in the game files, it also appeared in the first teaser of the "Pick-a-Plant" feature in the May Monthly Update[1]. Costing 5 suns, it attacks the zombies in its lane and in the adjacent lanes, when the zombie gets too close to it, it gives it a poisonous bite.

  • Description: Cobra Lily attacks zombies in her lane and adjacent lanes, but when a zombie threatens her from the front, she retreats to deliver a venomous bite!

Scream Beans

Scream Beans is a new plant, its concept art was found in the game files. When she is attacked, she screams, stunning the zombie.

  • Description: Chills out, then lets out a stunning yell after being hit. Ear-Piercing!

Arrowheads

Arrowheads is a new plant, its concept art and possibly concepts of your abilities was found in the game files. She shoots arrows, but when a zombie gets close, she hides, activating a defense mode.

  • Description: Arrowheads are fierce fighters who hurl powerful projectiles! But if zombies get too close, they'll hide behind their sturdy shield until it's safe.

Coconut Cannon

Coconut Cannon is a plant that returns from Plants vs. Zombies 2, his seed packet and the texture of his projectile was found in the game files, but because his textures resembles PvZ3's 2020 Pre-Alpha art style, we don't know if he will actually arrive, or is in development, or whatever Pop Cap is planning with him. When you click on him, he launches a mega coconut that causes massive area damage, but then needs to recharge after that.

  • Description: Coconut Cannons fire down a single lane, causing a medium explosion on impact.

Shuffle Truffle

Shuffle Truffle is a plant that was in the soft-launch of PvZ3 in 2020, its sprites was found in the game files. When the zombie bumps into her, she pushes him back into an adjacent lane, having to recharge after that.

  • Description: Bounces a zombie back into an adjacent lane, then has to recharge. Adoratruffle!

Spikeweed

Spikeweed is a plant that was in the soft-launch of PvZ3 in 2020, he was only mentioned in the game files. He causes damage to all zombies that step on him, because he is on the ground, he cannot be devoured. Any obstacle that touches him is destroyed, alongside himself in the process. He's presumably a counter to Rock-N-Rollin' Imp.

  • Description: Hurts all zombies that walk over it. Does heavy damage to pushed Obstacles. Prickly!

Sawgrass

Sawgrass is a plant that was in the soft-launch of PvZ3 in 2020, she was only mentioned in the game files. She deals massive damage to zombies that touch it, requiring reloading, until then, zombies will just walk over her.

  • Description: Saws zombies on its tile for heavy damage, then has to recharge. Serrated!

Ginger Zap

Ginger Zap is a plant planned for soft-launch of PvZ3 in 2020. He was only mentioned in the game files. He fires short ranged lightning bolts in four diagonal directions that are able to chain between other zombies, being able to hit flying zombies.

  • Description: Shoots close-range chain lightning in 4 diagonal directions. Can hit flying zombies. Zip-zap-zappy!

Upcoming zombies

Deadlift Zombie

Deadlift Zombie is a planned zombie for PvZ3’s 2020 soft-launch, who was found in the files in the game's code. He picks up a close by zombie and throws them down the lane ahead of him.

  • Description: Throws zombies farther down his lane. Ripped!

Hiker Zombie

Hiker Zombie is an upcoming zombie found in the game's code. Nothing else is known about this zombie.

Parasol Zombie

Parasol Zombie is a returning zombie, who was found in the files in the game's code. She is able to block all lobbed shot projectiles in an area around herself.

  • Description: Carries a parasol that defends all zombies around her from lobbed shots. Elegant!

Bungee Zombie

Bungee Zombie is an upcoming zombie found in the game's code. He was also featured in the preview video. He signals his decent by firing an arrow with a target on it at a plant on the ground, he will then drop above the targeted plant and steal it upon his ascent. He is presumably countered by Umbrella Leaf.

Slugger Zombie

Slugger Zombie is a returning zombie from PvZ3’s 2020 soft-launch, who was found in the files in the game's code. Once he has appeared on the field, he will stay in place and hit baseball gloves at a random plant in his lane. If there are no more plants on his lane he will act like a Browncoat Zombie, proceeding across the lawn.

  • Description: Stays in place, hitting baseball gloves at random plants in this lane. Semi-professional!

Cell Phone Zombie

Cell Phone Zombie is a returning zombie from PvZ3’s 2020 soft-launch, who was mentioned in some game code. She shields herself with her cell phone. Once her cell phone breaks, she will become enraged and will move and attack faster than before.

  • Description: When her cell phone breaks, she becomes enraged and speeds up. Screen timed!

Firewall Zombie

Firewall Zombie is a returning zombie from PvZ3’s 2020 soft-launch, who was mentioned in some game code. He creates a firewall in front of him that blocks plant attacks.

  • Description: Codes a Firewall, which blocks plant attacks and is immune to both Chilling and Normal damage types! 01011001 01101111 01110101 00100000 01100001 01110010 01100101 00100000 01101100 01101111 01110110 01100101 01100100!

Sunbather Zombie

Sunbather Zombie is a returning zombie from PvZ3’s 2020 soft-launch, who was mentioned in some game code. She steals sun from the player every so often.

  • Description: Every few seconds, steals one sun from you. She gives the sun back when her sun screen is destroyed. Well-tanned!

Balloon Zombie

Balloon Zombie is a returning zombie from PvZ3’s 2020 soft-launch, who was mentioned in some game code. When he appears, he will fly above the ground, avoiding any plant he encounters. When his balloon is popped, he will walk normally.

  • Description: When his balloon is destroyed, he stops flying and acts like a normal zombie. Popping!

Upcoming characters

Penny

Penny is an upcoming story NPC, we don't know anything about her other than her appearance in the Cliff lawn and her textures being found in the game files, returning from the 2020 soft-launcher.

Douglas Fir

Douglas Fir is an upcoming story NPC. Douglas is Crazy Dave's cousin and, based on his shirt and appearance, works at the Neighborville Conservation Academy. Douglas loves nature and animals. He spends the majority of his time at the Campground, where he regularly takes hikes and talks to his forest friends (which are animals). He only appeared in the 2nd Soft-Launch Re-release Beta and hasn't been seen since, we don't know if he was discarded or just saved for the future.

Summer

Summer is a future story NPC with talking sprites found in the game files, but we don't know anything beyond that.

Upcoming areas

Mt. Quesogrande

Mt. Quesogrande is an area that was in the 2021 and 2022 soft-launch of PvZ3, but for some reason it is not yet available in the current version of PvZ 3, although there are mentions of he in the game codes of the current version. Mt. Quesogrande’s gimmick was elevated slopes. This was the only location to have fully unique music instead of reusing or remixing music from the pre-2021/2022 soft launch.

Tropical Cave-In

Tropical Cave-In is an area found in the game files, and was shown in the April 2022 preview video[2]. Tropical Cave-In's gimmick are moss tiles, which cover a part of the lawn and can be destroyed by specific zombies, such as the Landscaper, preventing plants from being planted on it, we do not know if they regenerate.

Steam-Pot Sewers

Steam-Pot Sewers is an area found in the game files, We don't know anything other than the blurred lawn texture found in the game files.

Cliff

Cliff is an area found in the game files, We don't know anything other than the lawn texture found in the game files. The "Demo" in its file name suggests this may be a placeholder image.

Beach

Beach is an area found in the game files, We don't know anything besides a mention of it in the game codes.

Upcoming Gimmick

Volcano Eruption

Volcano Eruption is Mt. Quesogrande’s surprise attack, wherein several meteors would fall onto random tiles, leaving behind craters which prevented plants from being planted on that tile, these craters would disappear after 15 seconds, and plants occupying targeted tiles would be destroyed. It is not known if Volcano Eruption will return, especially since it does not have its icon on level param, but if Mt. Quesogrande returns, it is very likely that Volcano Eruption will return.

Lightning Strike

Lightning Strike is a future gimmick found in the game files. Nothing but textures of the icon on level param and an illustrative image have been found about this gimmick.

Plant Food

Plant Food is a returning game mechanic from PvZ2 and PvZ3's pre-2021 version. Its texture is in the game files, but we don't know how it will work in the current PvZ3.

Battle Pass

Battle Pass is a game mechanic that we don't know how it will work, we just have a lot of textures, along with textures of lunchbox levels.

VS Mode

Arena is a common mode in the franchise. In PvZ3’s 2020 soft-launch, there was an Arena mode, but the Arena mode was removed in PvZ3's 2021 soft-launch, but there are files that indicate a possible "VS" mode in the game. We do not know if it will be the same as in PvZ2 or PvZ3's 2020 soft-launch, or something new. In addition, there are profile picture textures in the codes, which would only make sense with an online mode.

Clubs

Clubs is a game mechanic from PvZ3's pre-2021 version. There are lines of text indicating your return.
