Not to be confused with Plants vs. Zombies 2: Guardian

Plants vs. Zombies 2: Guard (also known as Plants vs. Zombies 2 M in the Tieba Baidu version, 植物大战僵尸2守护: zhíwù dàzhàn jiāngshī 2 shǒuhù) is a QQ and WeChat mini-program released by Tencent. It is a spin-off game of Plants vs. Zombies 2. In order to play the game, one must have either the Tencent QQ, WeChat, Douyin, or Baidu Tieba mobile application and a registered account for the respective platform depending on the app. It was also released as an HTML5 game on the 4399 game store.

Gameplay[]

In this game, zombies constantly appear from the top of the screen, moving down. Plants on the row of five flower pots fire straight forward in their lane, damaging the closet zombie to the bottom in said lane, however you can also change the direction all plants aim in by pointing at the desired spot. When any zombie reaches the bottom, all of them are instantly defeated, but with their dropped sun being put in the piggy bank, where you can spend gems or watch an ad to open it and receive the sun.

When a zombie is defeated, it releases sun. Sun is used to buy new plants. Periodically, a chest appears in the player's inventory, which contains a plant. The player can have 5 plants at max at the same time on the field, and 10 plants/chests in their inventory.

Plants of the same type can be fused together to transform them into a plant with increased strength (2 plants of level x transform into 1 plant of level (x+1)). The higher the level of the plant, the higher is its damage dealt to zombies. All plants in this game have ranged attacks, and only differ in damage output.

The player can promote the league they are in. Promoting the league can allow the chest to give plants that are a level higher and also receive a league chest whenever getting promoted. The player will also receive a discount in plants' price and some gems. However, the zombies will also get tougher. A player can demote their league by watching an ad.

The player can watch an ad to enter a boss level. Boss levels contain several boss zombies, which must be defeated before they reach bottom of the screen for them to be completed. Rewards for beating boss levels are gems, the paid currency in this game. There are 50 boss levels in this game.

Strategy[]

Due to the lack of diversity in gameplay style, not many specific strategies have been developed. The generic strategies mainly centers around the Plant and Zombie Power.

If the Zombie Power is way less than the Plant Power, no strategies are required except for putting the highest-leveled plants on the flower pots.

If the Zombie Power is approximately the same as the Plant Power, the player should not merge all of their plants into one strong plant as the one single plant is lack in group damage compared to multiple slightly weaker plants.
