Plants vs. Zombies iOS (Formerly known as Plants vs. Zombies iPhone OS) was a version of Plants vs. Zombies for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. The iPad version was called Plants vs. Zombies HD. Since there was a limited space for titles to be shown on the iOS Home Screen, the game was called "PvZ" or "PvZ HD" (depending on the version).
It was released on February 15, 2010 for iPhone and iPod Touch and April 1, 2010 on iPad. Since November 3rd, 2017 (or August 18, 2017), Plants vs. Zombies FREE has taken its place, and the original apps have been removed from the App Store due to stability and game issues relating to iOS 11.
However the game can still be played if you are using a device with the game still installed on it or if you download it off a family member using family sharing. While 32-bit apps cannot be downloaded or played on iOS 11 or later, this app can be played still due to 64-bit support updates prior to discontinuation.
For one, the seed packets are on the left of the screen instead of the top. They do not show the name "Bloom and Doom Seed Co." The zombies' heads are slightly bigger, but their design is different.

Buttered Popcorn is a mini-game exclusive to this version. The menus and backgrounds have a new graphical design, due to the game graphics being redone for Retina Display.

The player can only buy nine seed slots, much like the Nintendo DS version. All the plants and zombies are in HD, giving them a new look. The player can buy all or some of the mini-games with coins (iPhone and iPad respectively). On a related note, the currency is called "Coins", rather than "Money".
There is now a Quick Play mode, allowing the player to play old adventure levels at any time. The player gets the Crazy Dave's Twiddydinkies earlier in the game (Level 2-2) to buy mini-games, so Level 3-4 gives the player bacon, which Crazy Dave trades for $1000.

There were a total of 47 achievements (48 on the iPad version). On February 15, 2010, there was 12 achievements for iPhone. On April 3, 2010, there was 17 achievements for iPad. On April 5, 2010, one extra achievement was added to the iPhone version, making it thirteen achievements. On July 27, 2010, 12 extra achievements were added to the iPhone and iPad making it 25 (29 in the iPad version) achievements.
On February 20, 2011, one achievement was added and one removed. On June 15, 2011, 6 extra achievements were added to both iPhone and iPad versions, making it 31 (35 in the iPad version) achievements. On September 11, 2011, one extra achievement was added, making it 32 (36 in the iPad version) achievements.
On September 17, 2011, 3 extra achievements were added, making it 35 (39 in the iPad version) achievements. On September 21, 2011, one extra achievement was added, making it 36 (40 in the iPad version) achievements. On December 16, 2011, two extra achievements were added, making it 38 (42 in the iPad version) achievements.

When the Dancing Zombie loses its arm, the entire arm disappears, including the top part. It also leaves no rip or tear in the shirt, as if it did not even have an arm hole.
When the Backup Dancer loses its arm, there is no bone showing.
The graphics in the Zen Garden were very buggy in a previous version. However, they have been fixed.
The Watering Can switched colors after being given to a plant (e.g. green became golden, golden became green). The color change did not affect its range, so the Golden Watering Can still watered up to four plants.
The fertilizer bag immediately disappeared after the bag was opened, so the powder appeared out of nowhere.
The Bug Spray had the Fertilizer animation playing behind it.
Stinky the Snail's animations were completely messed up. His body was arranged strangely, and he had an accurately arranged duplicate next to him.
The app sometimes crashes when Adventure Mode is selected.
The app freezes temporarily when the Suburban Almanac is selected.

Playing Beghouled and checking the Suburban Almanac will change the prices shown on the seed packets.
Beghouled glitch
Purchasing a Puzzle game pack in the Puzzle menu and switching to a different tab before the new levels appear will cause the game pack of the selected tab to temporarily unlock. For example, purchasing the I, Zombie game pack and switching to the Last Stand tab will cause the Last Stand game pack to unlock temporarily. The pack will re-lock when the player leaves the tab, or when one of the levels is played.
In a previous version, the game did not save a level when the player exited it. This meant that endless modes could only be played until the player got boring and bored or had their brain eaten. This has been fixed in newer version.
