Plants are living organisms that belong to the Plantae kingdom. They obtain most of their energy from sunlight in a process called photosynthesis. However, not all plants absorb energy via photosynthesis. They are the protagonists of Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2 and the player's main defense against the undead assailants.

The Chinese version includes a lot of plants from the international counterpart. It also features many new plants in China-exclusive worlds and monthly special plants.

There is a total of 191 plants.

  • All plants can be otherwise obtained with ten Puzzle Pieces, besides Grave Buster, which only requires one puzzle piece.
  • Red packets are dropped by the God of Wealth.
  • As of the 1.9.0 update, all plants are now obtainable via puzzle pieces.


Ancient Egypt

Description: Sunflowers are essential for you to produce extra sun. Try planting as many as you can!
Unlocked: At the beginning
Plant Food effect: Gives 150 sun.
Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: Gives either 1 Gold coin and 175 sun or 2 gold coins and 150 sun.
Sun cost: 50 Recharge: Fast Rarity: Common
Level 2: Gives 25 sun when removed. Level 3: Gives 75 sun when removed.
Level 5: Sunflower will leave an explosive seed behind once she is eaten, when a zombie approaches this seed, the seed will explode and deal damage relative of 10% of the maximum health of the zombie that approaches it in a 1x1 area.

Peashooter
Description: Peashooters are your first line of defense. They shoot peas at attacking zombies.
Unlocked: At the beginning
Plant Food effect: Turns it into a fast-shooting Gatling Pea shooting 60 peas for three seconds.
Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: Shoots three giant peas that deal 30 damage each, dealing a total of 90 damage.
Sun cost: 100 Recharge: Fast Rarity: Common
Level 2: It has a 35% chance to do the Pea Combo which shoots five peas at a time. Level 3: Doubles the chance of doing the Pea Combo (70% of initial).
Level 5: It'll now shoot plasma peas that deal extreme damage.

Description: Wall-nuts have hard shells which you can use to protect other plants.
Unlocked: At the beginning
Plant Food effect: Gives it a hard armor shell for an additional 160 bites of health.
Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: Gives it crystal armor, which has 320 health points and resistance to one Gargantuar smash.

Level 2: A destroyed wall-nut has a 50% chance to explode in a one-by-three area, pushing back zombies but dealing no damage. Level 3: A destroyed wall-nut now always explode in a one-by-three area, pushing back zombies but dealing no damage.

Bloomerang
Description: Bloomerangs can hit up to three targets in their lane, twice!
Unlocked: Collecting 10 Bloomerang Puzzle Pieces.

Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: It now hurls ten giant boomerangs in a cross-shape pattern that deals more damage

Description: Cabbage-pults hurl cabbages at the enemy.
Unlocked: Collect 10 Cabbage-pult Puzzle Pieces, or beating Ancient Egypt - Day 1
Plant Food effect: Launches large cabbages to every zombie and/or obstacle onscreen, dealing 10 damage to each of them.
Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: Now launches big electric cabbages to every zombie and/or obstacle onscreen, dealing double the damage to each of them.

Level 2: Cabbage-pult shoots 25% faster. Level 3: Cabbage-pult shoots 50% faster.

Description: Iceberg Lettuces freeze a zombie when stepped on.

Plant Food effect: Freezes every zombie on screen for 10 seconds.
Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: Will also launch some Power Snow snowball at random zombies.

Level 2: Can now attack zombies three tiles in front of it. This attack does not slow zombies and can be deflected by Hammer Zombie. Level 3: Iceberg Lettuce can now attack zombies five tiles in front of it. The attack is slightly more powerful.

Description: Grave Busters consume graves they're planted on.

Bonk Choy
Description: Bonk Choys rapidly punch nearby enemies that are ahead or behind them.
Unlocked: 30 stars or Collect 10 Bonk Choy Puzzle Pieces.
Plant Food effect: Punches zombies around it in a 3x3 area around it, dealing a maximum of 75 damage.
Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: Will also attract nearby zombies before doing its plant food effect.

Level 2: For every 15 hits done, Bonk Choy will perform an uppercut to throw up a zombie and to put a stop on its movement while thrown up. Level 3: The number of hits needed to perform an uppercut is reduced to seven.
Level 5: After uppercutting a zombie twice, Bonk Choy has a chance of jumping and hitting the floor, stunning and causing damage to the zombies.

Description: Repeaters fire two peas at a time.
Unlocked: Collect 10 Repeater Puzzle Pieces.
Plant Food effect: Fires a stream of (90) peas followed by a giant pea that does huge (30) damage to one target.
Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: Any peas fired by Repeater with its Plant Food ability has a chance to be a burning, napalm or frozen pea.

Level 2: Repeater gains a 12.5% chance to shoot a frozen pea, and a 16.667% chance to shoot a burning pea. Level 3: Repeater's probability to shoot a frozen pea or a fire pea increases. In addition, it is now capable of shooting napalm peas.

Description: Snow Peas shoot frozen peas making it hard for zombies to advance.
Unlocked: Collect 10 Snow Pea Puzzle Pieces.
Plant Food effect: Slows down all the zombies in its lane, then shoots 60 frozen peas rapidly.
Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: It now shoots 3 big snow peas that deals 30 damage each instead.

Description: Cherry Bombs blow up all zombies in an area. They have a short fuse so plant them near zombies.

Level 2: There is a 50% chance of creating a singular cherry bomb that explodes upon contact, similar to Potato Mine. Level 3: Cherry Bomb will always create a singular Potato Mine-like Cherry Bomb.

Description: Torchwoods turn peas that pass through them into fireballs that deal twice as much damage.
Unlocked: 6 stars or Collect 10 Torchwood Puzzle Pieces.

Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: Plant Food gives it purple fire that quadruples the damage of peas.

Pirate Seas

Description: Kernel-pults flings corn kernels and paralyzing butter at zombies.

Level 2: A high damage corn rocket gets lobbed for every five projectiles lobbed. Level 3: A high damage corn rocket gets lobbed for every three projectiles lobbed.

Description: Snapdragons breathe fire that causes damage in 6 adjacent tiles.
Unlocked: Collect 10 Snapdragon Puzzle Pieces.
Plant Food effect: Breathes fire in a 3x3 area in front of it, dealing 90 damage.
Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: The radius of the Plant Food ability is increased from a 3x3 area to a 4x3 area.

Level 2: Snapdragon gains a 50% chance to spit blue flames that deal around 250% of the damage of normal, orange flames. Level 3: Snapdragon now always spits out blue flames.

Description: Coconut Cannons fire down a single lane, causing a medium explosion on impact.
Unlocked: Collect 10 Coconut Cannon Puzzle Pieces.
Plant Food effect: Fires one big coconut that pushes all zombies to the rightmost of the screen or an immobile object and then explodes.
Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: Coconut Cannon now shoots a bullet that also stuns zombies in a 5x1 area when it explodes.

Description: Squash will smash the first zombie that gets close.

Plant Food effect: Squashes two random zombies then returns to where it was planted, squashing any zombies in that tile.
Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: Squash now targets three random zombies on the screen instead of two.

Level 2: Squash gains a 20% chance of staying in the lawn and can attack zombies in longer distances. Level 3: Squash gains a 50% chance of staying in the lawn, making it more usable.

Description: Split Peas shoot peas forward and backwards.

Plant Food effect: Shoots many peas forward and backward, the back head shooting a big pea afterwards.
Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: Plant Food ability can shoot 60 peas each head, then finally a giant fire pea (forward head) and big snow pea (backward head, 30 damage).

Description: Lightning Reeds shoot lightning at the nearest zombie up to one lane away. The bolt will then arc and hit other zombies.
Unlocked: Collecting 10 Lightning Reed Puzzle Pieces, or beating Wild West - Day 9.
Plant Food effect: Makes a storm cloud that strikes lightning at a random zombie in the lawn, moving to another zombie upon the previous zombie's death.
Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: Lightning Reed unleashes a huge lightning cloud that can target mulitple zombies on screen.

Level 2: Lightning Reed gains a 15% chance to release a red, high voltage lightning that can stop zombies for a short while. Level 3: The chance of releasing red lightnings is increased to 30%.

Description: Jalapenos destroy an entire lane of zombies.

Description: Pea Pods can be planted in the same space for up to 5 times the destruction.
Unlocked: Collecting 10 Pea Pod Puzzle Pieces.
Plant Food effect: Turns into a giant Peashooter that shoots five giant peas.
Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: When fed Plant Food, it shoots five big fire peas. If the big fire peas pass over a napalm Torchwood, the peas will turn into big napalm peas.

Description: Winter Melons do heavy damage and slow groups of zombies.

Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: It can now launch "flaming frozen melons" that deal quadruple the damage of a frozen melon.

Level 2: Winter Melon has a 7% chance to freeze zombies when it deals damage. Level 3: Winter Melon's chance of freezing a zombie will increase to 14%. Any zombie that gets caught in its splash will also get frozen solid.

Description: Radish cannot be pulled by Qigong Zombie or sucked by a wormhole, and protects plants behind it as well.

Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: It now creates two Radishes.

Description: Fire Gourd breathes fire that deals moderate damage, but its attack is short-ranged and sleeps after being tapped on.

Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: It now spits a powerful dragon-shaped flame down its path.

Description: Heavenly Peach heals other plants that surrounds it.

Costumed effect: Upgraded plant food effect: It fully heals plants as well, especially defensive plants such as Wall-nuts.

Description: Bamboo Shoot attacks zombies up to four tiles in front of it.
Unlocked: Collecting 10 Bamboo Shoot Puzzle Pieces
Plant Food effect: Hits the last zombie in each lane and any zombies very close to it, flinging them off-screen if they are weak enough.
Costumed effect: It flings one extra zombie off-screen.

Description: Blovers blow away all zombies in the air.

Description: Citrons shoot powerful balls of plasma.

Plant Food effect: Shoots a giant plasma ball that kills every zombie it hits and instantly kills the first machine or Gargantuar it hits; doing so stops the plasma ball.
Costumed effect: Citron now deals higher damage and produces chains of electric current to attack zombies.

Description: E.M.Peaches explode and disable all machines in an area.

Plant Food effect: Pyro-shroom instantly grows to full size, and then burns a random column for ten seconds. Any zombie that steps on the fire will be trapped in it and damaged.
Costumed effect: It explodes and deals damage in a 1x1 area when the fire ends.

Level 2: Pyro-shroom grows 50% faster and its damage is increased by 15%. Level 3: Its growth is doubled and damage is increased by another 15% (30% of initial).

Description: Throws pumpkins, that controls a normal zombie, when the pumpkin exists to fight for you.

Plant Food effect: It throws five blue-eyed pumpkins to the zombies. Any zombie hit by these pumpkins will turn into a zombie with a blue eyed pumpkin on its head that has increased toughness. After launching, it needs to recharge for six seconds before being able to attack again.

Description: Sings sun and encourages plants increasing their attack power and shortens the cooldown period.

Plant Food effect: It begins to sing and makes every plant dance and forms sun into a heart shape and later a "2" shape. After the sun falls onto the ground, it gives the player 280 sun. The effect also stuns zombies. Some plants have special abilities that activate only after dancing.
Costumed effect: While singing, it makes other Sunflower Singers produce 50 sun. This has no extra effect on plants with Special Abilities.
