Modern Day - Day 1 is the first level of Modern Day in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2. Portals make their first appearance in this level. When this level is finished for the first time, the player unlocks Moonflower.

In Normal mode, the player has to beat the zombies at Level 1.

Dr. Zomboss: Aha! Project Paradox begins...NOW!
Penny: Timeline alert, User Dave!
Penny: We have arrived moments before our departure!
Penny: If my guess is correct, Dr. Zomboss will attempt to prevent your initial taco-consumption!
Penny: Our journey will cease to exist!
Crazy Dave: NOOOOOOOOOO!
Crazy Dave: ...OOOOOOOO! Sorry, I was busy screaming "No." Did you say "taco"?
Penny: We must aware, User Dave. Dr. Zomboss will surely deploy all his time-varied zombies against us!
Crazy Dave: TACOOOOOOO!

Difficulty

This level is one of the easiest levels in Modern Day. This level features a lot less Buckethead Zombies than the international version of this level. The hardest part of the level is when the Ancient Egypt portal appears, but even then, the player shouldn't struggle too much on this level as unlike in the international version, only one portal appears in the whole level.

In hard mode, the player has to defeat leveled-up zombies.

Difficulty

All zombies in this level are at level 4. The player will need really strong attacking plants in order to beat this level without using a Cuke. Pharaoh Zombie is the biggest threat in this level.

Strategy

By Shootingstarcs Plants required:

• Grapeshot
• Sunflower Singer (for stalling)
• Electric Blueberry
• Imitater Electric Blueberry
• Hurrikale
• Chard Guard
• The remaining plants are your choice.

Note: Sunflower Singer needs to be level 4 to activate her Plant Food ability and Electric Blueberry needs to be at least level 3 to target the entire board. Firstly, put down a column of Sunflower Singers, then plant Electric Blueberries until you have at least two lines of them. In emergency situations, use Grapeshot. Hurrikales or Chard Guards are also recommended as they can push back the Pharaoh Zombie.
