*Although Gargantuar is a slow zombie, it is very strong. Because this zombie does not eat plants, it will smash plants with its weapon. Just remember that Hypno-shroom, Garlic, Wall-nut, Tall-nut, and Pumpkin are useless against them. Once damaged enough, it will throw its Imp. The player must deal with its Imp as well as the Gargantuar. Even if your defense is good on the Gargantuar, if you lack Imp defense, it will eat your plants and walk to your roof cleaners or chimney.

Level 5-8 is the forty-eighth level in Plants vs. Zombies, Plants vs. Zombies: Endless Edition, and Plants vs. Zombies: Great Wall Edition, and it is the eighth Roof level. It is a regular level. When this level is finished for the first time, the player obtains the Melon-pult.

Difficulty

 • Although Gargantuar is a slow zombie, he has a high amount of health and can instantly destroy the player's plants by smashing them. Hypno-shroom, Garlic, Wall-nut, Tall-nut, and Pumpkin are useless against it. Once he is damaged enough, he will throw his Imp. The player must deal with his Imp as well as the Gargantuar. Even if the player's defense is good on the Gargantuar, if they lack defenses against the Imp, the said zombie will eat their plants and walk to their Roof Cleaners or chimney.
 • Since no Bungee Zombies will steal the player's plants, three of them will drop additional ambush zombies instead. A Squash or Cherry Bomb is recommended to prevent them from eating the player's plants.

Strategy

Before the Gargantuar shows up

 • Plant two columns of Sunflowers on the first and second columns. Plant a Cabbage-pult or Kernel-pult once you see the first regular Zombie.
 • Plant a column of Cabbage-pults and Kernel-pults on the third and fourth columns. Once you have enough sun, you can plant the Fume-shroom and Coffee Bean. This will damage multiple zombies on your lanes.

When the Gargantuar shows up

 • It is not advised to use Ice-shrooms and Doom-shrooms with Coffee Beans, because they have very slow recharge. Instead, use a Squash and then a Jalapeno for good defenses.
 • Only use instant-kills for emergency once the Gargantuar has thrown its Imp. This is a good way to prevent very slow recharging.
 • Replace the second lane of Sunflowers with Kernel-pults. This will cause more butter to come out and stun the zombies.
 • When the Bungee Zombies drop ambush zombies, avoid using the Cherry Bomb early. Once too many zombies are close to the empty Flower Pot, use the Cherry Bomb to deal more damage to the Gargantuar and destroy all the other zombies. Then, use the Jalapeno to destroy its Imp.
 • It is recommended to use the Jalapeno after the Gargantuar has thrown his Imp, as the Jalapeno will destroy both of them.
 • A good strategy is to Pumpkin important plants that could be eaten by Imps, such as Melon-pults and Winter Melons.
 • Another way to kill the Gargantuar is to use a Squash, Cherry Bomb, or any instant-kills on the Gargantuar. Then after he throws the Imp plant a Hypno-shroom where the Imp lands, wake it up with Coffee Bean quickly, and then the Imp will eat the Gargantuar until the Gargantuar is defeated.

Instant Plant Use Strategy

Before and After Basic Zombie Shows Up

 • Plant a Column of Sunflowers, as the only zombies that attack you are the Gargantuar, Conehead, and basic Zombie.
 • When the first zombie shows up, use a Potato Mine or squash to give time plant fourth column of Flower Pots.
 • Also mixed the tips above this with Cabbage-pult and Kernel-pult.

When The Conehead Zombie Shows Up

 • Plant both Cabbage-pult and Kernel-pult in front of Cabbage-pult, tried Squash or another Instant Plant if the Conehead Zombie didn't die.
 • Fill the Fourth Collumn with Cabbage-Pults, your lawn should be like the First Column has Sunflowers, Second filled with Cabbage-pults, Third with Kernel-pults, and Fourth with Cabbage-pults Again.
 • Ignore Tips Above this if Gargantuar shows up before it's done and only focus on Gargantuar tips until the Gargantuar is killed

When The Gargantuar Shows Up

 • Try using multiple instant kill plant to kill the Gargantuar, and don't forget to use the Flower pot and an instant kill plant to kill the Gargantuar!
 • If the Gargantuar throws the Imp, try to ignore it and just replant plants if they are eaten.
