Despite their adept claims of proficiency, it doesn't convince others for a bumpy ride on their mothership.

Horsebean (蚕豆突击队, lit. "Broad Bean Commando"; pinyin: Cándòu Tūjīduì), also known as "Board Beans", internally referred to as "horsebean", is the fourth plant obtained in Sky City in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2. The beans inside the pod fly towards a nearby zombie. Then, they start shooting peas at it.

After attacking the zombie, the beans fly back into the pod and must recharge before they can attack again.

Origins

Horsebean are based on broad beans (Vicia faba), specifically horse beans (Vicia faba equina).

Strategies

While they take a while to recharge, they are a strong plant, and are good in many worlds outside of Sky City, although Sky City and Big Wave Beach are a bit more ideal due to them being airborne. Costing as much as Carrotillery, they provide more damage per second, so they are a good choice for Sky City levels, and also decent for others. Overall, they may need to get some defensive and supportive plants to work nicely.

Trivia

• In the iOS version of the game, the Almanac entry erroneously states that Horsebean can absorb thunderbolts, which is Anthurium's ability.
  • This was fixed in the Android release.
• Horsebean has the longest Plant Food duration of all plants. However, for balancing reasons do not obtain invincibility frames for the full duration.
• If the Horsebean is destroyed, so does any spawned fighters.
• Despite the fact that Horsebean are a peashooting plant, it’s impossible for Jester Zombie to avoid being damaged by their projectiles.
