Since she plants things in dirt and watches them rise, Gravedigger is the closest thing to a gardener in the zombie world. Other zombies find that a little creepy. That's why she doesn't get invited to many rise-from-the-graveday parties.

Gravedigger is a Graveyard zombie introduced in Plants vs. Zombies 3. She digs up bones that spawn gravestones on the tile it lands.

Origins

She is based on a gravedigger, a person who digs up a grave prior to a funeral service.

Her ability to dig up bones that raise gravestones is based on Tomb Raiser Zombie's ability to throw bones that raise tombstones.

Her name may have been taken from a zombie that was scrapped in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, but can be seen in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2.

Strategies

Get rid of Gravedigger as soon as you can; the longer she lives, the more gravestones she can possibly create, swarming your lawn with summoned zombies and graves. Blockbuster is a very good answer to Gravedigger, covering 3 lanes on the lawn with extra Shatter damage against gravestones; a Blockbuster on the 2nd and 4th lane protects the whole lawn from gravestones.

Plants such as Melon-Pult and Night Cap can get rid of gravestones with brute force, but will cover less area than Blockbuster against the graves. Plants with Hot type damage such as Snapdragon, Bonk Choy, and Bamboo Shoots will all work better against Gravedigger and her gravestones due to their Earthy types, while the inverse occurs for Electric type plants such as Lightning Reed, Flak Seed, and Starfruit.
