Gatling Pea (机枪豌豆; jīqiāng wāndòu) is a returning premium peashooting plant in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2. He rapidly fires four peas at a time, dealing damage to zombies in rapid succession.

Ten of Gatling Pea's Puzzle Pieces can be obtained by purchasing ¥168 worth of in-game items. 30 of Gatling Pea's Puzzle Pieces can be obtained if ¥298 is spent, and 60 Puzzle Pieces if ¥398 is spent.

The player now no longer needs to spend their money on obtaining ten of Gatling Pea's Puzzle Pieces.

When given Plant Food, Gatling Pea shoots 60 peas in three seconds in three lanes.

Strategies

Gatling Pea retains his role as a high DPS plant. Expensive to secure and upgrade, his raw damage can take out Buckethead Zombies easily, and when leveled up, can act as a better Threepeater. If enough stars have been obtained, the player should have a Level 3 Torchwood, which will increase Gatling Pea's power by a lot. However, it's not recommended to use against Jester Zombie, Hammer Zombie, or Nunchaku Zombie unless at Level 5, as they can send the projectiles back and potentially clear out a row due to the power Gatling Pea throws out. Shield Zombie can also negate Gatling Pea's attack.

Trivia

• He and Cattail were the only plants that could only be obtained by spending real-life money, as Cherry Bomb could be obtained by spending diamonds.
  • However, the player now no longer needs to spend real-life money on both Gatling Pea and Cattail.
• Gatling Pea and Dandelion are the only plants in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2 to have unique alternate versions exclusive to the International version of Plants vs. Zombies 2.
• He appears to fire faster than a Peashooter, but he still shoots peas every 1.5 seconds. This is because the counter resets when the first pea is launched, instead of the last.
• He, Banana Dancer and Morning Glory are the only plants to have a sun cost of 375.
  • Coincidentally, they’re all Chinese-exclusive.
• If he is placed directly behind a Torchwood, the frontmost pea will not be ignited.
• His level 5 projectile is the same as Gatling Pea's projectile in Plants vs. Zombies: All Stars.
• Prior to version 2.5.6 his level 5 projectiles couldn't be set on fire by Banksia Boxer.
• Like many returning former upgrade plants, his recharge was drastically reduced to 5 seconds.
• His level 5 projectiles can't be reflected by Jester Zombie, Nunchaku Zombie or Hammer Zombie.

• 

  Gatling Pea is a Peashooter instead of Repeater in this version

  Despite being upgraded from Repeater in the first game, Gatling Pea in this version came into existence after a Peashooter was struck by lightning due to an explosion of a research center, as revealed in his Almanac entry.
  • Gatling Pea being a Peashooter rather than a Repeater can be observed in-game by selecting Gatling Pea, then dragging Gatling Pea near his own seed packet, revealing Gatling Pea uses Peashooter's appearance.
    • Another hint supporting this is Gatling Pea's Plant Food ability in this version is akin to Peashooter's Plant Food's ability, shooting 60 peas in three seconds but with the ability to shoot in adjacent lanes as well.
