Garlic is an eventplantcard in Plants vs. Zombies Heroes and a member of the Guardian class. He costs 1 to play and has 1/5. He has the Team-Up trait, and his ability moves a zombie onto the lane on his left when that zombie hurts him, regardless of the zombie's position. However, if said zombie is a Vimpire or Ancient Vimpire, it will instantly destroy them instead.
His first ability to move zombies is a reference to his main use in Plants vs. Zombies and Plants vs. Zombies 2, while his second ability to destroy Vimpires and Ancient Vimpires, as well as his description is a reference to the myth that garlic is a weakness of vampires.

Strategies[]
With[]
In terms of stats, Garlic can be best compared to Wall-Nut, as both have a large amount of health for the cheap price of 1 sun. Unlike Wall-Nut, however, Garlic has the ability to divert zombies onto a lane where they can easily be destroyed. Therefore, you should not play him on the leftmost lane unless you need a high-health plant to block a zombie, as it will nullify his ability. Try to boost Garlic's health so he can divert more zombies.
This card is the best counter to both Vimpire and Ancient Vimpire, as he will destroy them whenever they attack Garlic, and only costs 1 sun. This is especially useful on missions where your opponent plays Vimpire, as Garlic can take care of him easily. However, this ability is far from reliable as not every player uses Vimpire or Ancient Vimpire, and even for those that do, there are a few ways for the Vimpires to avoid activating Garlic's ability.
Citron and Spudow can use this with Splash Damage plants such as Snapdragon and tricks such as Cherry Bomb respectively to divert zombies closer where they can be destroyed more easily.
Another use of Garlic is as an offensive tank in the early game, as Garlic can destroy 1-health zombies while surviving a few attacks. In addition, his Team-Up trait can help protect your strong plants and move any threats onto lanes for them to attack. You could also give Garlic a minor boost with Starch-Lord since he is a root plant.
Against[]
If you want to use a zombie to destroy him, be sure to remember that it will end up on the lane to the left after it attacks. While using Vimpire or Ancient Vimpire to get rid of Garlic is something you will never want to do, utilizing the Frenzy trait itself is not a bad strategy as you can take advantage of Garlic's ability with it; since the zombie with the Frenzy trait that destroys Garlic will move to Garlic's left and then do a bonus attack on that lane, it can be useful if there are threatening, low-heath plants on the left of Garlic.
A great way to combat Garlic's ability is to use cards like Terrify and Sumo Wrestler to move Garlic to the leftmost lane. This will nullify his ability, which makes him easier to destroy. If that is not an option, resort to playing tricks on him instead.

Trivia[]
Just like Sweet Potato, Garlic doesn't degrade when damaged in this game.
If there is an aquatic lane left of Garlic and a zombie hurts it during combat, that zombie will get destroyed. This can be only done in AI battles, and it only works if the zombie isn't Amphibious.
