Frankentuar is an eventzombiecard in Plants vs. Zombies Heroes and a member of the Crazy class. It costs 5 to play and has 5/7. It has the Splash Damage 2 trait, and its ability gives it +1/+1 every time another zombie is destroyed. This ability stacks with each Frankentuar on the field and persists up until all Frankentuars are removed from the field.
Its name is a portmanteau of "Victor Frankenstein", the mad scientist who created the unnamed monster, and "Gargantuar", the zombie it is based on.
Its description is a reference to Victor Frankenstein's quote in the 1931 film adaptation, as well as how it is a zombie and thus, technically, undead, not alive.

Similar to Valkyrie, this zombie gets a boost for every zombie destroyed; hence swarm decks can help increase its damage. Its splash damage is an additionally lucrative benefit, helping deal damage to more plants in more lanes; though keep in mind that if there are Team-Up plants in adjacent lanes, only the front plant will take damage.
Due to Frankentaur's Splash Damage, it may be slightly difficult to trigger Frankentaur's self-buffing ability against weaker plants. Glass cannons, zombies that make other weak zombies like Zombie's Best Friend, zombies that can destroy other zombies like Fireworks Zombie, and Final Mission are the best options to supply and destroy more weak zombies for the sake of boosting Frankentuar. However, control cards and a few high-health zombies are also essential in order to stay at reasonable health until turn 5.
Frankentaur's Splash Damage is a powerful tool against swarms of plants, and so it is best placed on the ground to ensure three-lane coverage, to the left of any threats with 2 or fewer health if you wish for Frankentaur not to confront them directly. Heroes that can give Frankentaur Frenzy such as Z-Mech and Electric Boogaloo can weaponise this splash damage into plentiful potential bonus attacks as Frankentaur destroys more and more plants. If you do not need to confront a particular threat, it is best to play Frankentaur on the rightmost non-aquatic lane to get the most out of its ability, allowing heroes that lack Amphibious minions such as Professor Brainstorm and Z-Mech to indirectly confront the water lane.
Each hero has access to unique synergies and ways to assist Frankentuar:
Z-Mech can play this zombie as early as turn 3 when Gargologist is on the field and he has access to Flag Zombie who can make the cheap swarm zombies (and Frankentuar as well) even cheaper. This also puts your opponent in a small dilemma: destroy the support zombies and make Frankentuar much stronger, or deal with Frankentuar and let Flag Zombie and Gargologist keep doing their job. Z-Mech also has Going Viral/Coffee Zombie, which can give Frankentuar the Frenzy trait to support his swarms and inflict additional bonus attacks depending on how many plants are destroyed by the splash damage.
Electric Boogaloo can use this with Smashing Gargantuar or Area 22 to give it Frenzy, allowing it to destroy weak plants in front of it and next door and doing massive damage to the plant hero, as well as Supernova Gargantuar and King of the Grill to activate their abilities. However, using other Gargantuars for synergy contradicts the general idea of a swarm deck. Instead, Frankentuar would work better with a pet deck, as it, too, focuses on swarming cheap zombies. And finally, Killer Whale allows Frankentuar to be played on the aquatic lane, making it harder for your opponent to deal with it and saving a ground lane for another cheap zombie.
Impfinity doesn't have much unique synergization with Frankentuar, but like every Crazy hero, he has enough weak zombies to boost it, such as Imposter. He can also play it in Laser Base Alpha to make him a potential finisher and since it is an environment, it doesn't clog up a lane like Smashing Gargantuar when used by Electric Boogaloo.
Take note a well-boosted Frankentaur can become a priority target for Plants and hastily removed, which can easily worsen your board advantage. Use the field-clearing splash damage of Frankentaur as breathing space to reinforce your field with several other threats to ensure the loss of Frankentaur is not a major issue.
Against[]
Frankentuar has massive stats (especially health) for a 5-brain zombie and it will get even stronger as you destroy the constant flood of weak zombies that follows. Its splash damage can additionally deal with three lanes at a time, devastating grouped-up plants and providing room for more zombies to be added as potential ways to boost Frankentaur. As threatening as the swarm of zombies is, you should mainly focus on destroying or heavily damaging Frankentuar due to its high damage potential. Solar heroes can use removal tricks to destroy him easily, while Smarty heroes can Bounce him to remove his boost, although the zombie hero is likely to replay him later on.
