She was first confirmed in the Frostbite Caves Part 1 developer diary, and was available for purchase since February 18, 2015 for 109 gems along with the first Frostbite Caves Part 2 teaser Piñata Parties. She costs 100 gems. Fire Peashooter shares the same attributes with Peashooter, but she is also a thawing plant, capable of emitting heat every three seconds that gradually thaws out frozen or chilled plants in a 3x3 area surrounding her, as well as being immune to all freezing effects herself. She does 40 DPS to zombies. |

− | When given Plant Food, Fire Peashooter blows a fire trail for three seconds that affects all tiles in front of her, destroying ice blocks and dealing a total of 1800 damage per shot to every zombie on the trail. Prior to the Frostbite Caves Part 2 update, the Plant Food effect dealt 3500 damage per shot and had a range of only 5 tiles. |
||
− | ===Pepper-mint effect=== |
||
− | When boosted by Pepper-mint, Fire Peashooter will have an additional 240 DPS added to to her fire peas. In addition, she will have a 25% chance to shoot a napalm pea, with said napalm peas receiving an additional 330 DPS while boosted. Finally, her plant food attack will deal an additional 300 DPS per damage tick over the duration of the Plant Food. |

||
+ | Unlike in Plants vs. Zombies Adventures however, she is no longer able to instantly destroy the armor of heavily armored zombies. Her fiery peas are also unable to be boosted by Torchwood's ignition ability, due to them already being on fire. |
||
− | ==Strategies== |
||
− | While Fire Peashooter initially deals similar damage to Repeater and has a lower sun cost, the fact that Repeater can work in tandem with Torchwood makes Fire Peashooter a less desirable choice in levels outside Frostbite Caves. Additionally, Fire Peashooter does not function well in tandem with ice-based plants, and can reignite Explorer Zombie/Torchlight Zombie's torch and Prospector Zombie's dynamite stick. |
||
+ | Fire Peashooter also now has the ability to thaw out frozen or chilled plants in a 3x3 area in Frostbite Caves. Fire Peashooter herself is also unable to be frozen by any means. |
||
− | The main use of Fire Peashooter is in Frostbite Caves as a heating plant, as most other heating choices such as Pepper-pult, Lava Guava and Jack O' Lantern have a longer recharge time. This does not come for free however, as Fire Peashooter does not have as much damage potential as other heating choices. Fire Peashooter should be planted in the center of the defenses where she can help other plants quickly recover from the freezing winds. On the other hand, placing a line of Fire Peashooters on the front line can prevent Hunter Zombies from being able to freeze other plants. |
||
+ | ===Garden Warfare series=== |
||
− | Do not use Fire Peashooter against Imp Dragon Zombies as they are completely immune to fire damage. Therefore, she is not a viable option for Arthur's Challenge, as in addition to the Imp Dragon Zombies, Jester Zombies can also deflect the fire peas. Jester Zombie, however, cannot deflect Fire Peashooter's Plant Food effect. |

− | Its Plant Food effect is not the best; it can be easily outstripped by the Jalapeno, as their damage is the same and both affect the whole lane. In fact, the Fire Peashooter only attacks forward during its Plant Food effect, thus making Jalapeno a much more desirable choice. However, the Fire Peashooter's Plant Food actually does damage over time, whereas the Jalapeno's is instant. Consequently, a Fire Peashooter would be able to fry one of Sloth Gargantuar's Yeti Imps. |

− | Fire Peashooter is somewhat better than the Pepper-pult, as it fires twice as fast, costs less and deals more damage in total. However, it can't shoot over ice blocks and let the Hot Potatoes do their job unlike the pepper-pult, and does not deal splash damage. - For other uses, see Fire Pea (disambiguation).
- Not to be confused with the projectile with a similar name.
Fire Peashooter is a recurring character within the Plants vs. Zombies franchise.
Fire Peashooter is a Peashooter who launches fire peas rather than simple peas. Throughout the series, Fire Peashooter has gone through a variety of names and designs, but the basic concept has remained the same.
As of Plants vs. Zombies 3, Fire Peashooter has appeared in six games.
Origins
Fire Peashooter is based on a Peashooter, who in turn is based on Pisum sativum like other pea-shooting plants.
The "fire" part comes from her being on fire and shooting flaming peas.
History
Plants vs. Zombies Adventures (Archived content)
- Main article: Flaming Pea
Flaming Pea made her first appearance in the ill-fated Facebook exclusive 3D-tower-defense game Plants vs. Zombies Adventures. She was unlocked after reclaiming The Flaming Lot and took 6 hours to harvest.
She costed 125 sun and shot flaming peas at zombies in a 5x5 area around herself. These flaming peas dealt more damage than the average pea, and had the ability to destroy Barrel Zombie and Ice Block Zombie's armors in one hit.
She is the only normal attacking plant in the game to lack a VIP counterpart.
Plants vs. Zombies 2
- Main article: Fire Peashooter (PvZ2)
Fire Peashooter later reappeared in Plants vs. Zombies 2 as a Gem Premium plant tied to the Frostbite Caves world. Similar to her appearance in Plants vs. Zombies Adventures, she is able to shoot flaming peas down her lane, which deal double the damage of a normal pea.
Unlike in Plants vs. Zombies Adventures however, she is no longer able to instantly destroy the armor of heavily armored zombies. Her fiery peas are also unable to be boosted by Torchwood's ignition ability, due to them already being on fire.
Fire Peashooter also now has the ability to thaw out frozen or chilled plants in a 3x3 area in Frostbite Caves. Fire Peashooter herself is also unable to be frozen by any means.
Garden Warfare series
The Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare series of third-person shooter games features two types of Fire Peashooters. A variant of the Peashooter and a Spawnable Potted Plant.
Variant
- Main article: Fire Pea
Fire Pea is the fire variant of the Peashooter first introduced in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.
His primary weapon is the Fire Pea Cannon, which is similar to his normal variant's primary weapon, being able to deal an immense amount of both direct and splash damage, except it is able to light zombies on fire. Zombies lit on fire would slowly take damage overtime until a certain amount of time had passed.
Potted Plant
- Main article: Fire Peashooter (Spawnable)
Fire Peashooter is a Potted Plant exclusive to Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. Fire Peashooter works similarly to the Pea Cannon, automatically firing high-splash damage projectiles at the nearest target, but their peas will light zombies on fire, dealing chip damage until either killed or extinguished.
While not being plantable in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, a Fire Peashooter "appears" as a NPC in the Backyard Battleground. However, this Fire Peashooter is named "Fire Pea" instead and claims they are simply a normal Peashooter set on fire.
Plants vs. Zombies Heroes
- Main article: Fire Peashooter (PvZH)
Fire Peashooter once again appears in the turn-based mobile game Plants vs. Zombies Heroes as a Premium Uncommon plant in the Mega-Grow class.
Fire Peashooter costs 2 and has 3/2 stats and no abilities nor traits. With her main appeal being her strong stats for a relatively cheap cost.
Plants vs. Zombies 3
- Main article: Fire Peashooter (PvZ3)
Fire Peashooter's latest appearance is in Plants vs. Zombies 3 as a Rare Shooter plant. Her seed packets are only obtainable from the Store, purchasable with the Club exclusive currency "Club Caps".
She shoots flaming peas down her lane that hurts a zombie as well as dealing minor splash to any other zombie on the tile, similar to the interaction between Torchwood and a Peashooting plant in the original Plants vs. Zombies.
Her Plant Food effect is named Flamethrower and is similar to her Plants vs. Zombies 2 Plant Food, blowing a fire trail for 3 and a half seconds down her lane while her Tacobility effect is named Spreading Flames and increases her peas' splash damage to a 2x3 area permanently.
Trivia
- Fire Peashooter has the most variants of their name and design of any Plant. Other Plants either simply had a redesign or name change.
