Electric Peel is a premium plant added in the 11.2.1 update of Plants vs. Zombies 2. It is able to shoot a peel that pierces through all zombies in 4 tiles in front of it twice, damaging zombies along the way.

Electric Peel is also able to be planted in water, which will increase the damage its peels deal and allow its peels to extinguish fire, and cannot be planted on Lily Pads. Peels traveling in water will create electric tiles that deal damage to zombies every 0.5 seconds.

Origins

Electric Peel is based on the banana, a fruit produced by several kinds of large herbaceous flowering plants in the genus Musa. More specifically, Electric Peel is based on a "dessert banana", most specifically a "Cavendish banana", due to the elongated crescent shape and light yellow insides. It is also based on an eel, specifically the electric eel (which is actually a type of knifefish) due to its electric abilities and powers, though the dorsal fins are more reminiscent to moray eels.

Its name also appears to be a pun on "electric eel" and "peel" which explains why it's able to be planted on water.

Plant Food effect

When fed Plant Food, Electric Peel will shoot a Super Peel that is able to instantly kill zombies except Dr. Zomboss, Gargantuar variants, Cardio Zombie, Roman Caesar Zombie, Z-Mech, and #caketank, while those that cannot be instantly killed will receive 1000 damage.

Fila-mint effect

When boosted by Fila-mint, Electric Peel will deal 2x damage with both its land attack and water attack, its attack cooldown is reduced to 1-1.25 seconds (level 1-5) or 0.75-1 seconds (level 6-10), it deals an additional 100/150/200/250/300/350/400/450/500/550 damage to zombies it cannot instantly kill using Plant Food, its water electrified grid items duration is adjusted to 1/1.5/2/2.5/3/3.5/4/4.5/5/5.5 seconds, and grid item damage is increased by 10.

Strategy

Electric Peel struggles to perform well on its own. Its attack style is similar to Bloomerang, as it can hit zombies twice by sending a peel forward and back across 4 tiles. However, unlike Bloomerang, Electric Peel's damage is relatively low, and it has difficulty covering the entire lawn effectively.

Being an amphibious plant, Electric Peel has some advantages, such as reducing the need for Lily Pads in water environments. However, the damage boost from planting it on water tiles is highly situational. Water tiles are rare and primarily found in Big Wave Beach, while puddles are only created by plants like SeaFlora, meaning players are often forced to plant Electric Peel on land where it doesn’t receive the water-based damage boost.

The Electrified Condition occurs along the four tiles that the peel passes through when it travels across water, but it doesn’t provide a significant damage boost. Instead, the Electrified Condition is applied for a brief moment, and its effect is minimal, often disappointing players who expect more from this mechanic. Furthermore, Electric Peel’s slow recharge time between attacks further hampers its effectiveness, especially in early levels where the Electrified Condition is unavailable on land, making it difficult for Electric Peel to even defeat basic zombies.

Despite these limitations, Electric Peel's Plant Food ability offers a powerful attack. When given Plant Food, it releases a Super Peel that travels down the lane, dealing 1000 damage to all zombies it passes and destroying grid items like tombstones, statues, and ice blocks. While this is a strong attack, it deals a fixed 1000 damage (at level 1), which isn’t enough to immediately take down Gargantuars or bosses. However, its damage increases as the plant is leveled up, making it more effective in later stages.

Overall, Electric Peel is not a highly recommended plant. Its slow attack speed and reliance on water-based tiles limit its usefulness. There are better alternatives available, including free plants like Power Vine, Lightning Reed, the aforementioned Bloomerang, or Laser Bean, which can provide more consistent damage across a wider range of levels.

But if you still want to use it, or experience it, you can use it first in Big Wave Beanch, or Tiki Torch-er. Where you can experience its power on the water. And if it seems like a good plant to your taste, then here are some tips for you in places where there is water.:

1: If you have a vertical line of puddles covered, or the water spreads over many lines, then put the Electric Peel on puddles or where the water will be most often. But if the puddles are too close to the right side of the lawn, it is better not to put it there, or if the water limit is too low.

2: Due to its range limitations, it is good to take a long-range plant like Bowling Bulb, Cactus (if you have extra Plant Food, you can give Cactus a boost.) or Stickybomb Rice. (The cactus should be placed at the very edge, because it does not sit on the Lily pad. well, if there is little water, it can be placed in front of a protective plant so that it can additionally help Electric Peel destroy zombies in the vicinity.).

3:You should also put it in the place where Bonk Choy is usually planted. So that he starts attacking earlier and (If there is water) electrifies the cells with water.

Then, if you decide to use it in other locations, you can use SeaFlora to create cages with water, and then plant Electric Peel there. However, if you have a limited number of suns, you should not do this, since you can spend a lot of suns on creating one puddle. If you dare to do this, then make puddles in front of the protective plants, as mentioned above, Electric Peel benefits if it is planted next to the protective plant. If you manage to make 5 puddles in a row, then you can use the SeaFlora as an attacking plant.
