Draftodil is a premium plant in Plants vs. Zombies 2, introduced in the 8.7.1 update for the "Draftodil's Defensive" Arena Season. She slows down all flying zombies in her lane, firing large gusts of wind (every 1.35-1.5 seconds) that stun zombies momentarily. These gusts of wind also have a 50% chance to blow the first small zombie they encounter off the lawn.
If planted in the same row as a Dandelion, Draftodil will cause 2 Dandelions in her lane to release multiple bombs at once, but Dandelion will be disabled for 10+2 seconds afterward. This is only applicable to Draftodil's initial planting.
Like Blover, Draftodil's air cannon is capable of propelling all airborne enemies - this includes normally grounded zombies bounced by Chard Guard, level 5+ Stallia, Kiwibeast during growth or using Plant Food, Reinforce-mint, propelled by Breakdancer Zombies or dinosaurs, zombies knocked back by Goo Peashooter and Guacodile's Plant Food effect, the Blast Back Perk’s blasts in Penny's Pursuit, Tumbleweed, Explode-o-Vine, temporarily airborne by Primal Peashooter or flicked by Power Toss. Under normal conditions, Draftodil's air cannon can blow away the following enemies:
- Seagull Zombie
- Pelican Zombie
- Zombie Parrot
- Prospector Zombie (while flying)
- Jetpack Zombie and Disco Jetpack Zombie
- Blastronaut Zombie
- Dodo Rider Zombie (while flying)
- Bug Zombie
- Balloon Zombie (with balloon)
- Swashbuckler Zombie (while swinging)
- Airborne Imps (by Imp Cannons, Gargantuars, Zombie Bulls, All-Star Zombie, or Bot Swarm)
- Relic Hunter Zombie (while swinging)
- Lost Pilot Zombie (while hanging)
- ZCorp HelpDesk (while hanging)
- Zombot Aerostatic Gondola (will only remove phase one of its health meter)
Draftodil is based on the daffodil, also known as the narcissus, a genus of flowering plants with strong historical significance in early Europe.
Her name is a portmanteau of "draft," a current of cold air in a confined space, and daffodil, the genus of flower she's based on. Her description is a play on the phrase "full of hot air," which is used to describe someone who speaks a lot, but is ultimately saying very little.
Note: The stats shown below only apply to Level 1.
SUN COST: 100
Special: Slowdown Fliers
Draftodils windmill constantly, slowing flying zombies, and also shoot air cannon blasts that knock flying zombies off the lawn.
Usage: briefly stuns non-flying zombies
Special: air cannon knocks critters, imps and shrunken zombies off the lawn
Draftodil looks like she's full of hot air, but she isn't. She's full of highly compressed air. There's a difference!
Plant Food effect
When given Plant Food, Draftodil blows strongly, blowing away all flying zombies in her lane, as well as releasing five gusts of wind, dealing 575 damage per shot in total. These gusts of wind also stuns zombie for longer and have a 100% chance to blow the first small zombie they encounter off the lawn.
When boosted by Contain-mint, Draftodil will deal an additional 150 DPS with her normal attack, an additional 255 DPS with her Plant Food attack, her stun duration is increased by 1.25 seconds, her Plant Food effect stun duration is increased by 5 seconds, and the chance of her blowing small zombies off the lawn is increased to 100%.

Draftodil is a good plant for stalling, as her air cannon stuns zombies briefly, similar to Primal Peashooter without knockback ability. However, compared with Primal Peashooter, her sun cost, damage and stun duration are lower. Additionally, Draftodil fires projectiles more often than Primal Peashooter. She cooperates well with Shrinking Violet or Enforce-mint, as they will shrink zombies, and Draftodil's air cannon is able to blow small zombies off the lawn directly. Also, Imp Pear can be used well with Draftodil, as Imp Pear turns zombies into Imps, which can be knocked off the lawn by her. Contain-mint boosts her damage and stun duration, which make her stalling ability better. A level 1 Draftodil's DPS is low, it doesn't compare with even a level 1 Peashooter, thus player should not use the only plant to deal damage. For more stalling ability, plants such as Dazey Chain, Apple Mortar, Winter Melon, Primal Peashooter or Sap-fling can be used with her. Another good strategy is to use Draftodils in mass numbers, as they can overwhelm mass numbers of zombies.
Draftodil can also be used with Stickybomb Rice or Dandelion, because the former cannot hit flying zombies and the latter will release multiple bombs at once upon her initial planting. Draftodil's projectile cannot be deflected by Jester Zombie, but can be blocked by Shield Zombie's shield and Excavator Zombie, so the player should utilize lobbed shot or piercing plants with Draftodil to take care of these zombies.
Drafodil is very helpful with plants, zombies, perks, or powerups that can make grounded zombies "airborne", since then there could be chance to knock the zombie off the lawn. Compared with Blover, Draftodil is helpful in "Don't lose more than x plants" since unlike Blover, She won't count as a lost plant when blowing away airborne zombies. However, since Draftodil can only attack one zombie at a time, don't use her with Reinforce-mint since a single Draftodil will only manage to blow away one zombie.
At higher levels, Draftodil can be useful against Chicken Wrangler Zombie and Weasel Hoarder as the guaranteed stun from her attacks can prevent the animals from being released if the zombies are killed while stunned.
In general, Draftodil is a useful assisting plant.

- Despite having a Plant Food effect, Draftodil's Mastery does not increase her chance to boost.
