The Devour Tower was a game mode in the pre-2021 version of Plants vs. Zombies 3 where were the player could unlock plants, encounter new zombies, obtained abilities, unlocked buildings, and, ultimately, level up and progress through the game.

The Devour Tower was divided into floors, with each floor having a certain number of stages. Beating a floor earned the player rewards. The higher up the player went in the Devour Tower (by beating floors), the more challenging the floors became and the more stages per floor (Until five stages). However, better/more rewards were given.

Mechanics

Mastery Reward

• To win the Mastery Reward, the player needed to beat the floor without losing any hearts.
• If the player wanted to obtail the Mastery Reward even with lost lives, previous floors could be replayed.

Fight

• On each floor, the player needed specific plants in order to defeat certain zombies.
• When: Power of Plants < Power of Zombie, the player could still play, but with more difficulty;
• If the player wanted to make their army of plants more powerful:

1. Level up their plants
2. Try out different combinations.

• After winning the floor, the game leveled up the player's account to allow for unlocking plants, blueprints, abilities, and pinatas (Mastery Reward).
• After defeating the floors numbered in pair except for 2, the zombies got stronger when more floors were defeated.

• The banner promoting the 2022 Lawn of Doom Thymed Event from Plants vs. Zombies 2 featured a cameo of the Devour Tower in the background.
