Citron Ball is an ability for Citron in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2. When used, Citron will curl up in a ball and move at a faster speed than usual, but will be unable to attack. Spin Dash, Hyper Ball and Assault Mode are available to use whilst in this form.
Who wouldn't want to transform into a ball and roll past all of life's problems? The Citron doesn't just roll, he dashes into foes and rolls with super speed and super style.
Due to the speed increase, Citron Ball can be easily used to quickly move to targets, such as the Graveyard in Herbal Assault. Additionally, the player will receive no knockback damage in this form, so it can be used to stay in objectives, such as the garden in the Sasquatch Boss Hunt, without being potentially knocked back.
However, staying in this form is not recommended, as the player will not be able to deal any damage without the usage of Spin Dash. Switching back to Assault Mode should be done as soon as the player reaches their destination.
As switching back to Assault Mode is done via an ability, shutting it down via abilities such as Sonic Grenade and Gravity Grenade are viable options so that the Citron can be freely attacked without fear of retaliation.
- It seems to be a reference to the Morph Ball from the Metroid series.
- Party Citron's ball ability is actually replaced by the Party Citron Ball, similar to how the Explosive Escape is replaced by the Explosive Party for the Party Mech.
- In Pre-Alpha, it went under a different name: Citron Mode.
- It is the only plant ability that can knock back zombies.
