Chinese English 小板栗们最喜欢住在一起生活，当有人问起原因时，他们就会跟对方自豪地讲述一群刚毕业的小板栗挤在一栋小屋内艰苦奋斗，互相扶持，誓要出栗头地的故事。当然在故事的最后他们还会不忘小小地抱怨一下某个外号“靓仔”的小板栗挤占太多空间的不良行径……而跟他们认识了很多年的毛竹同学一句话道出了真相：“他们不过是没钱付房租罢了。” These little chestnuts prefer to live together. When somebody asks them why, they'll begin sharing their story with pride——A group of chestnuts who've just graduated crowded into one small room, worked hard, supported each other, wanted to be great out of its kind. And, at the end of the story-telling, they never forget to add a tiny grumble about a chestnut nicknamed "Handsome Boy" occupying so much space that's a bad behavior... However, an old classmate, Mao Bamboo, revealed the true cause merely in a word: "They just can't afford the rent of a larger room".

Chestnut Squad (板栗小队, lit. "Chestnut Squad"; pinyin: Bǎnlì Xiǎoduì), also known as "Chest-nut", internally referred to as "chestnut", is a plant in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2. Chestnut sends seeds 3 out of the shell that will headbutt zombies. They can go to attack zombies that are far away while acting as defensive plants at the same time. Zombies will attack the seeds first instead of the plant on the tile where the seeds are located.

Once one of the seeds is eaten up, another new seed will soon come out from the shell to replace it. If the zombies get behind them, they will follow those zombies and keep attacking.

The chestnuts are also semi-defensive similar to Strong Oleracea, Pea-nut, Red Stinger, both Endurians, and Kiwibeast.

When fed with Plant Food, Chestnut Squad creates a group of chestnuts to attack zombies ahead of them.

It summons a big chestnut after the small ones, which instantly kills the zombies on the path.

	Rage Squadron 愤怒中队	Chestnut turns red, the attack power increases to 20, and the HP increases to 3000. 小板栗变成红色攻击力上升至 20，生命值增加至3000。

Strategies

This is a really versatile and decent plant which is able to damage and defend at the same time. Its costumed Plant Food can instantly kill zombies , being one of the few able to do that. The plant itself is really good for a solid 175 sun and a sluggish recharge. It is not recommended to use it in Big Wave Beach or Sky City since chestnuts need lily pads to cross water tiles and no option is available for chestnuts to cross air tiles and chestnuts can't attack flying zombies.

Advisable to be used with Laser Bean or Winter Melon. No need for a defensive plant, as this already is one. Handle with care, as this plant can be overwhelmed, as it’s not the most defensive of them all. It is advisable to have it with a Heavenly Peach or Aloe to guarantee it to survive later waves.

It’s able to counter All-Star Zombie and Gargantuar (PvZ2) pretty well since there are alot of chestnuts.

Trivia

• The eyes of the green shell are actually the eyes of one of the chestnut seeds inside the shell.
  • If the shell is not creating new chestnut seeds, it will perform somersaults in place.
• The chestnuts can move to another tile if they are attacked.
• When the chestnuts attack a Mecha-Football Zombie, they will move with it.
• Each chestnut can take a Gargantuar hit, leaving the other chestnuts alive but zombies like Barrel Roller Zombie that crush any plant on a tile kills every chestnut.
• The chestnuts cannot go over the water in Big Wave Beach unless there are Lily Pads for them to cross.
• The almanac entry of Chestnut Squad is a reference to typical Chinese citizens' life especially in first-tier cities, where housing is usually considered to be dramatically difficult.
• The chestnuts can be moved by Escape Root but only one at a time.
• The chestnuts can be moved around on mine carts.
• The chestnuts don't count towards the plants loss and plant limit objectives.
• It’s impossible for all three of the Wizard Zombies, Octo Zombie, and Riot Police Zombie to disable the chestnuts that come out of the shell. Wizard Zombie will attempt to transform the chestnuts into sheep, but will fail every single time.
• There is an animation error that shows it's costume in red for 1 second. This didn't happen until they added a costume.
• It’s impossible for the chestnuts that come out of the shell to be frozen.
