- Not to be confused with Underwater plants or Amphibious plants.
Aquatic plants are plants that can only be planted while having direct contact with a body of non-scenery water, which only appear in the Pool and Fog levels in Plants vs. Zombies and the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2, Big Wave Beach in both the International and Chinese versions of Plants vs. Zombies 2, and levels with puddles.

- In the Zen Garden, the aqua pot for the aquatic plants is bigger than the Flower Pot for the non-aquatic plants if grown at least once by fertilizer.
Specific to Plants vs. Zombies 2[]
- Lily Pad was an aquatic plant before Patch 11.3.1 and the only aquatic plant to not despawn during low tide in Big Wave Beach.
