Burdock Batter (牛蒡击球手; pinyin: Niú​bàng Jī​qiúshǒu) is melee plant in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2 introduced in the v3.0.6 Arbor Day update. Burdock Batter can melee zombies with its leftmost head when they get into its melee range. Its melee attack knock back zombies by a small amount and can also attack backwards. When a pea passes by Burdock Batter, it has a chance to do either one of two hits; a straightball hit and a curveball hit.

When Burdock Batter hits a straightball, the pea hit will travel faster and deal more damage to the first zombie it hits. When Batterdock hits a curveball, the pea will be lobbed to the farthest zombie in the lane and stun upon impact. Burdock Batter hits occur in intervals and not all peas that pass by it will effected, nor will it boost peas when using melee attacks.

Origins

Burdock Batter is based on the root of a burdock plant, plants in the Arctium genus of the family Asteraceae, a root with a long history of usage in cuisine and medicine in East Asia.

Plant Food effect

When fed Plant Food, Burdock Batter will fire up and will preform one of two attacks depending on its circumstances. When zombies are near Burdock Batter, it will knock them away with a powerful melee attack. When a pea passes by Burdock Batter, it will hit a straightball that knocks away all zombies ahead of it. If a zombie is too big to be knocked away, both attacks will do heavy direct damage and stun them.

Costumed

When Burdock Batter is wearing its costume, its straightball attack will split the pea into three, affecting zombies in three different directions. Burdock Batter’s melee attack is not changed.

	Walk-Off Home Run 再见本垒打	10% chance for a home run which produces a pea meteor that targets the leftmost zombie, causing 5x damage in its tile and stuns for 4 seconds. 击球时有10%概率打出本垒打，豌豆子弹会飞出场外，随后变成陨石砸向最左侧的僵尸，造成单格的范围的、豌豆子弹5倍的伤害并眩晕4秒。

Trivia

• Burdock Batter is the second support plant that exclusively buffs pea shooting plants, with the first being Torchwood.
• If Burdock Batter encounters a pea coming from the left (Split Pea, Gatling Pea Zombie, etc.), it will still shoot the pea to the right.
• It reuses the sounds Hammer Flower uses.
• In the trailer it was revealed in, it uses Hot Date's audio but lower pitched.
• The left head resembles Morty Smith while the right head resembles Rick Sanchez, both from the Rick and Morty television series.
• It’s possible for them to survive Cavalry Zombie’s lance.
• It’s possible for their melee attack to see and damage invisible Bandit Zombies.
