Boingsetta is an ice plant in Plants vs. Zombies 2 introduced in the 8.5.1 update. When planted, she fires off a special attack covering the whole screen, dealing 1000 damage to grid items, while instantly destroying critters and harmlessly knocking back zombies for 1.17 tiles and chilling them for 5 seconds. Her subsequent attacks have a 25-second delay, and only affect her lane if there is a valid target.

Origins

She is based on a poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima), the plant species of the diverse spurge family native to Central America and widely used in floral Christmas displays.

Her name is a portmanteau of "boing" which refers to her ability to knockback zombies, and "poinsettia", the plant she's based on.

Plant Food effect

When given Plant Food, Boingsetta fires off an attack that deals 10000 damage to all obstacles and 50 damage to all zombies on screen, knocking them back for 1.95 tiles and chilling them for 10 seconds. Her Plant Food effect does not reset her time between attacks.

Winter-mint effect

When boosted by Winter-mint, Boingsetta deals an additional 10000 damage to grid items, and her Plant Food effect deals an additional 30000 damage to grid items as well as an additional 195 damage to zombies. Additionally, her knockback is increased to approximately 2 tiles whilst her Plant Food effect's knockback is increased to approximately 2.7 tiles. Finally, Boingsetta's time between attacks is reduced to 18 seconds, her chill duration is increased by 11 seconds, and her plant food chill duration is increased by 15 seconds.

Strategy

Boingsetta is incredibly powerful in a variety of scenarios and worlds. Just as you plant her, she is capable of destroying all obstacles, which can be very useful in hazard-filled worlds like Dark Ages, Ancient Egypt or Frostbite Caves. After she has been planted, her knockback and chill attack can be very helpful at stalling massive zombie quantities. However, this attack is only in her lane and not constant, so it is a good idea to bring other offensive plants.

Boingsetta is especially useful in Big Wave Beach when facing Surfer Zombies and Octo Zombies. Thanks to her capabilities of destroying obstacles, octopi launched by Octo Zombies can easily be nullified, while surfboards placed on the lawn by Surfer Zombies are also destroyed. Overall, this makes the world much easier. However, players have to strategize and use her carefully due to the slow recharge she has.

Similarly to Spring Bean, Boingsetta's knockback sends zombies into the water in Pirate Seas. Unlike Reinforce-mint, her knockback ability will not work with Blover, and Draftodil requires extremely precise timing to actually benefit from her attacks.

Obstacles include all kinds of tombstones, Frozen blocks, Tents, Force fields from Shield Zombie, Arcade machines, Surfboards, octopi from Octo Zombies, the stones and stone slabs from Zombie Medusas, the caduceuses from Healer Zombies, and Speakers.

Critters include Barrels from Barrel Roller Zombies, Zombie Parrots, Zombie Chickens, Ice Weasels, Zombie Doves, Zombie Monkeys, bugs from Bug Zombies, and Balloons.
