So, this and this happened. We had this confusion recently about how this rule works:
- ’’Any user who demotes themselves or were demoted for inactivity can get their rights back after being active in the Wiki again for at least two weeks.’’
And here’s the two points about that rule that need to be figured out:
- Two weeks in a row or not in a row?
- What activity counts towards the repromotion?
The two weeks point
I personally always thought that this meant two weeks in a row and I always went with this variant. All of the people who wanted to get their rights back seemed to also go with this rule. In my opinion, two weeks in a row should be the obvious choice, but it would be also okay if a user could skip 1-4 days in that week with a valid reason. Here’s the choices:
Choice #1
Two weeks in a row, no days could be skipped.
Choice #2
Two weeks in a row, a few days could be skipped with a valid reason.
Choice #3
Two weeks in a month, doesn’t matter if it’s in a row.

Choice #4

The activity point
I also thought that it would be obvious for that rule that a user needs to be active in the place based on their rights (for example rollback in mainspace). I would honestly make no sense if a user was active in forums just to get their rollback rights back. Here’s the choices:
Choice #1
User who wants to get their rights back has to be active in the place based on their rights every day.
Choice #2
User who wants to get their rights back has to be active in the place based on their rights, but can skip a few days and not edit in the “correct” place.
Choice #3
User who wants to get their rights back doesn’t have to be active in the place based on the rights they want to get. They can be active anywhere.
Choice #4

- Note: In order to be able to vote on mainspace related voting threads, you need at least 25 mainspace edits and you must have been on the wiki for two weeks. For any other topic, you must have been on the wiki for four weeks. If you do not follow these rules your vote will be disqualified. If you do it repeatedly, you will be given a forum warning. Thank you.
