I'd highlight this thread immediately if I had my user rights with me but I can't get them back just yet.
Anyway, on to the point.
A lot of chatters do love linking stuff (most especially videos) in order to show something in public chat. However, some content that the videos may contain can make users uncomfortable, extremely shocked/surprised or might affect their health. Take note of the following:
- Flashing lights/scenes/imagery can affect people who are prone to epilepsy (or to those who simply can't handle them easily).
- Screamers, extremely loud noises, and jumpscares can hurt the ears, especially for headphone/earphone users.
- Bloody/graphic scenes can make a user extremely uncomfortable depending on how extreme it is.
- Kinky content and probably content where there swearing is inserted can greatly surprise viewers as well as mislead viewers into thinking the video is fine(?)
With that said, I think it would be nice if we add a rule in where users should warn other users of any of the aforementioned following above whenever they link a video (or even probably not just videos) in chat that contains of those content. I believe it would be more polite if we notify users what surprising stuff they may expect in every link posted in chat.
So let's get straight to voting.
Choice #1 |
Add a rule in where users should warn others if any of the all mentioned content above is present in the link they posted in chat. |
Choice #2 |
Add a rule in where users should warn others if any of the all mentioned content above is present except for (please specify what kind of the content mentioned above are the ones we don't need to warn users of) in the link they posted in chat. |
Choice #3 |
Other suggestions (if you support that we should add this rule). |
Choice #4 |
We don't need to add this rule (AKA oppose). |
P.S. - Before you might say that we already have the "Do not post a link to chat that may shock a visitor", that rule refers to the forbidden linking of shocksites (or surprise porn to put it bluntly). But Snapdragon717 was actually right about revamping that rule for about a bit though.
