Asparagus (芦笋战机, lit. "Asparagus Fighter Plane"; pinyin: Lúsǔn Zhànjī) is the second plant obtained in Sky City in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2. He shoots asparagus seeds at a zombie either on his lane or the lanes adjacent to him. After attacking seven times, he rests for a second by pointing down and closing his eyes, whilst smoke pours out of his mouth.

Origins

Asparagus is based on the real life plant of the same name (Asparagus officinalis), a spring vegetable and flowering perennial plant species in the genus of the same name.

When fed with Plant Food, Asparagus gains a helmet and fires at all spaces in his range, dealing 800 damage to zombies.

Strategies

Asparagus is a really useful plant to use early in the game, as he's one of the only multi-directional plants the player can obtain easily. He can attack in the lane above or below, and when stacked he can easily kill many weaker zombies. However, his random targeting (only hits one lane at a time), inconsistent AOE damage and attack cooldown (equivalent to his normal attack duration) might make him less viable.

Asparagus can be useful for Ultimate Challenge levels, as his Plant Food ability can inflict extreme damage to bosses. He can make a huge difference on the likes of Big Wave Beach's Ultimate Challenge or Dark Ages's Ultimate Challenge.
