Plants vs. Zombies

Chiến thuật

Plants vs. Zombies

Khi một Gargantuar thường bị tấn công bởi một cây giết ngay (nhưng sau đó chưa chết hẳn) hoặc khi máu của nó giảm xuống còn một nửa, thì nó sẽ ném Imp ra phía trước khoảng năm ô (mặc dù trong chế độ chơi Survival: Endless thì khoảng cách này có thể lớn hơn). Trồng Pumpkin để bảo vệ các cây ở ba cột trong cùng là một cách để đối phó hiệu quả với Imp. Thậm chí cả cột thứ tư và năm từ trái sang cũng nên được bảo vệ bởi cây này vì lỡ chẳng may một cây giết ngay được kích hoạt ngay khi Gargantuar vừa mới xuất hiện trên bãi trồng. Trong Survival: Endless, Gloom-shroom bọc trong một Pumpkin có đặt thang do Ladder Zombie cũng thường được sử dụng để tiêu diệt Imp trèo qua nó mà không khiến Pumpkin bị thiệt hại gì. Một cách khác đó là thay thế Sunflower ở cột trong cùng bằng một số cây khác như Melon-pụlt và Winter Melon vì chúng có thể nhanh chóng loại bỏ lũ Imp, và thậm chí cũng có thể tiêu diệt luôn cả Gargantuar. Trong trường hợp cần nhiều mặt trời, người chơi có thể cố gắng nâng cấp Sunflower thành Twin Sunflower để gấp đôi hiệu quả cho mặt trời.

Trong các màn Puzzle Mode của chế độ chơi I, Zombie, mặc dù Imp có khả năng chống chịu cực thấp, nhưng chúng vẫn có thể được tung ra trên những hàng ít được bảo vệ để ăn Sunflower hoặc não nhờ có tốc độ tương đối nhanh. Ngoài ra thì không nên dùng Imp trên những hàng có các cây tấn công khác, vì nó sẽ ngay lập tức bị tiêu diệt và gây lãng phí 50 mặt trời.

Plants vs. Zombies 2

Imp Mummy

Nhờ có tốc độ tương đối lớn mà zombie này khá là nguy hiểm, chính vì vậy mà người chơi nên tiêu diệt nó càng nhanh càng tốt. Một cách hay để giải quyết chúng là đặt ba Repeater trên cùng hàng, hoặc cho Plant Food lên một Peashooter hoặc Repeater. Wall-nut và Tall-nut cũng chặn lại zombie này được khá tốt, mặc dù vậy người chơi vẫn cần một hệ thống hỏa lực đủ mạnh và sẵn sàng thay thế chúng hoặc cho chúng Plant Food vì Imp bào mòn các cây phòng thủ nhanh hơn zombie thường.

Imp Pirate Zombie

Cách xử lý Imp Pirate Zombie cũng tương tự như đối với Imp trong Plants vs. Zombies. Hãy cẩn thận khi zombie này được phóng ra từ thùng của Barrel Roller Zombie hoặc được bắn ra bởi Imp Cannon, vì chúng có thể xuất hiện tại những vị trí mà người chơi chưa kịp gia cố hàng phòng thủ. Split Pea hoặc Bonk Choy cũng có thể được dùng nếu Zombie Bull Rider bị ném ra phía sau, vì hai loại cây này có thể tấn công theo cả hai hướng. Một loạt các Zombie Bull, Wild West Gargantuar, và Zombie Bull Rider cùng xuất hiện có thể trở thành một cơn ác mộng đối với người chơi, mặc dù vậy họ cũng có thể xử lý hàng loạt Zombie Bull Rider bằng cách dùng Blover khi chúng đang ở trên không cùng một lúc.

Imp Monk Zombie

Biến thể Imp này nguy hiểm ở chỗ chúng thường xuất hiện từ các nấm mộ thông qua đợt tấn công bất ngờ "Chiêu hồn" ("Necromancy"). Vì Puff-shroom giờ chỉ có thể tồn tại trong một khoảng thời gian ngắn, nên người chơi nên trồng Fume-shroom, loại cây vừa có sức sát thương cao hơn, vừa tấn công được nhiều mục tiêu cùng lúc, để giải quyết lũ zombie này. Tránh trồng Grave Buster khi dòng chữ cảnh báo "Necromancy" xuất hiện vì Imp có thể trồi lên ngay sau đó và ăn mất Grave Buster.

Ở Đêm 10 của Dark Ages, người chơi cần sử dụng Plant Food lên Fume-shroom sau khi Dark Ages Gargantuar ném ra Imp của nó để các zombie khác không có cơ hội vào sâu trong hàng phòng ngự của họ. Tuy nhiên, họ cần phải nhanh tay, vì nếu không họ sẽ phải tốn tiền mua Power Ups hoặc Plant Food để qua màn này.

Imp Dragon Zombie

Imp Mermaid Zombie

These sneaky Imps will appear suddenly when the "Low Tide!" ambush goes into effect. If on levels 8, 14, or 16 of Big Wave Beach, the Imp Mermaids may appear on the back of a Deep Sea Gargantuar. Build a column a Split Peas on the tide area to defeat these Imps. You can also do the Spring Bean and Blover combo to blow away these ambush zombies and all other zombies in their first appearance.

Yeti Imp

These Imps appear via snowstorms, Sloth Gargantuars, and in Icebound Battleground, and are not very different than normal Imps aside from being immune to Iceberg Lettuce. However, they can appear in large numbers in Icebound Battleground, and up to three at once can be thrown far into your defenses by Sloth Gargantuars. It is recommended to use plants like Rotobaga and Starfruit because they can deal a lot of damage in a short amount of time to deal with them.

Leprechaun Imp

Leprechaun Imps only appeared in the St. Patrick's Day event Party. These types of Imp are dropped from the sky when the warning, "Leprechauns" had shown up. Due to having increased health, you must have a number of Spikeweeds and Coconut Cannons on your lanes. Use Plant Food on the Spikeweed to stun it for more damage. Plant Repeaters and Torchwoods next to Threepeaters for more damage. If you have used Plant Food on the Torchwood, the Leprechaun Imp will take more damage from its napalm fire peas.

They used to drop a gold coin when killed at the St. Paddy's Day Parties, but stopped doing so on the Luck O' The Zombie parties.

Flying Imp

It will be sent facing right into your ground defenses, eating any plants that it comes across and once it reaches the air, it will drop off screen via parachute. Transport boats will send them into random ground columns and Gargantuars will always throw them into the hindmost column. This is extremely dangerous as if the player does not bring any backwards shooting plants, he will hopelessly see all of his ground defenses eaten. As there are no space for backwards shooting plants and there are no aerial plants that do so, The player may choose bringing Homing Thistles in early levels, but later on they will be quickly overwhelmed by the zombies clogging the screen. Note that despite the Anthurium has two heads, it does not shoot backwards. The Player can also plant a column of Chard Guards. When the Imp is thrown, Chard Guard will throw it back.

Exploding Imp

While the function is somewhat different from Imp Punt, the Exploding Imp on the other hand is a Spawnable Zombie. When summoned, it will attack a plant with explosives with a minimum damage of 20 and a maximum damage of 50. The Exploding Imp explodes when it only attacks a plant.

• Imp has appeared in all four main games so far and has appeared in various media.
• Imp, Robo-Cone Zombie, and Barrel Roller Zombie are the only zombies that sit down when they die.
• Imp currently has the most variants out of all of the zombies.
  • These include Regular, Mummy, Pirate, Bull Rider, Feastivus, Easter, Bug Bot, Dark Ages Monk, Dragon, Valenbrainz, Kongfu Monk, Tiger, Leprechaun, Announcer, Mermaid, Yeti, Imp Punt, Exploding Imp, Long Bomb, Lost City, Porter, Summer Nights, Impunk, Jurassic, and Super-Fan. This makes a total of 24 different variants, if one does not count the Vampire Imp, Seagull Imp, and Construction Imps at the end of areas with Part 1. If you do, then there are 27 variants.
• Imps share a few relations to famous folklore creatures of the same name, namely, their small size.
  • Ironically, in most interpretations, Imps are not zombies, but their own separate species. However, in Plants vs. Zombies, they're a type of Zombie.

Specific to Plants vs. Zombies

• Imp appears to only have two fingers and no thumbs. However, in the Wabby Wabbo music video, Imp has four fingers.
• Imp is one of the three zombies with feet that do not wear shoes, the other two being Jack-in-the-Box Zombie and Zombie Yeti (this is assuming that Dr. Zomboss wears shoes, as his feet are not visible).
• If a Gargantuar that is carrying an Imp dies before throwing the Imp, the Imp will descend into the trash can it is riding in and die with it. This is similar to Dr. Zomboss hiding in the head of the Zombot when it gets destroyed.
• In Last Stand Endless, if a Gargantuar throws its Imp while mallet mode is activated and the player smashes the Imp while the Imp is in flight, the Imp will just sit down in mid-air and die.
• If a Ladder Zombie places its ladder on a Wall-nut, an Imp will not climb it, but will just pass through. This does not happen if the ladder is on a Tall-nut.
• If an Imp is thrown by a Gargantuar, it will be as slow as a normal zombie, although in I, Zombie, it is faster.
• In I, Zombie, the Imp only takes three hits to kill.
• Imp has to bite four times to kill a normal plant.
• The I, Zombie Imp is the fourth fastest zombie in the game, with the Dolphin Rider Zombie being faster (with its Dolphin intact), the Digger Zombie while it is underground, and the Dancing Zombie when it is doing the moonwalk before it summons its Backup Dancers.
• If the player uses an Ice-shroom while the Imp is in the air, the Imp will just become slowed down when it lands instead of freezing.
• On the Xbox Live Arcade version, if the Imp gets in the back door of the house, the player will hear the chomping sound and the "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" when the Imp is only halfway into the doorway.
• Imp is one of nine zombies unavailable for use in Versus Mode.
• Imp is shown rollerskating twice during the Windows Phone 7 trailer. The first time is near the beginning as the new Dancing Zombie is dancing, and the second is at the end as he rolls out of the light.

"Imp shot" Practice

• Imp will disappear in mid air if a Jalapeno is used at the Gargantuar who threw it. The same thing happens with Pole Vaulting Zombie in the air. This also occurs when another instant kill explosive is used on it, such as the Cob Cannon, Cherry Bomb, or Doom-shroom.
  • This happens possibly because when the Imp is in the mid air, it will become a flying zombie.
• Imp is one of the few zombies in this game without the word "zombie" in the name, the others being Gargantuar, Giga-gargantuar, Backup Dancer, Dr. Zomboss, and Zomboni.
• In the Wabby Wabbo music video, an Imp appears with a yellow shirt that says "SHORTY", and it has a "lazy eye". You can tell because only one of its eyes moves around like crazy while the other one does not. One might find it either funny or creepy. Not to mention it sings "Crazy Dave".
• Imp, Backup Dancer, and Zombie Bobsled Team are the only zombies that depend on other zombies to be able to attack on your lawn.
  • However, in Bobsled Bonanza, ice is already on the lawn, so Zombie Bobsled Teams can attack.
• Imp, Dr. Zomboss, Money Bag Zombie and Jack-in-the-Box Zombie are the only zombies to have a smile on their faces, albeit an evil one.
• According to Imp's Suburban Almanac entry, Imp loves fighting, as well as playing a musical instrument, though he's not shown doing any of those things.
• No other plant or zombie plays an instrument (unless counting the Jack-in-the-box) or mentions playing an instrument in its Almanac entry.

Specific to Plants vs. Zombies 2

• Imp Mummy looks like a cat, similarly as how the Tomb Raiser Zombie acts like a dog. In Ancient Egypt, cats were worshipped and sometimes they were even mummified.
  • Imp Mummy's Almanac entry refers to a cat's habits, like scratching and coughing up hair balls.
• If an Imp is hit by a butter that came from the Kernel-pult while in mid-air, the butter is not shown. Charring it with plants like Cherry Bomb while in mid-air will display its burning animation in the mid-air as well.
• If the Imp Cannon is glowing with Plant Food, the Imps inside glow, but when fired onto the lawn they do not glow anymore.
  • This is probably so the player does not easily get large amounts of Plant Food.
• The "time to steal some booty" is Imp Pirate Zombie's catchphrase refers to an attempt to steal a treasure.
• If the Zombie Bull or Gargantuar is killed before throwing the Imp, it will simply drop onto the ground in the same position if an Imp was killed. Zapping the Zombie Bull on the other hand will unusually also make the Zombie Bull Rider disappear.
• Similar to an Imp Cannon, Zombie Bull Rider turns green if the Zombie Bull is holding Plant Food.
• There is a golden tooth on most of the Imp variations. Therefore, besides the Imp Pirate Zombie, the Imps are the only non-Pirate Seas zombies in the entire game with a gold tooth.
• Now, each Imp has four fingers, but still no thumbs.
• Unlike in Plants vs. Zombies, Imps still appear on the charred Gargantuar when blown/electrocuted even if the Imp was already thrown.
• Imp is one of six zombies to have a new look during the first Feastivus Event, the others are Swashbuckler Zombie, Poncho Zombie, Pianist Zombie, Camel Zombies, and Gargantuar.

  • Dark Ages Imp Monks appear midway or close to the house in Dark Ages gravestones in the "Necromancy!" ambush. They are also launched from Dark Ages Gargantuar's back.
  • Kung Fu Monks are shot into the player's defenses.
  • Tiger Imps fly quickly above them, and then run very quickly to the player's plants. They are also the first interactive zombie introduced in the Chinese version, the second being Missile Zombie.
  • Leprechaun Imps appear from pots of gold that land on the lawn.
  • Imp Dragons appear in fireballs shot by Zombot Dark Dragon or appear on their own.
  • Imp Mermaid Zombies appear in an ambush called "Low Tide!" or appear on their own.
  • Yeti Imps can be thrown by Gargantuars, brought by snowstorms, be frozen in frozen blocks on the lawn, or appear on their own.
  • Every Imp variant after Yeti Imps except for Imp Porter appears on their own or are thrown by Gargantuars.
